Its the beginning of December, where we see christmas lights everywhere and Christmas tunes every where we go and I just love this time of year. Its so cheerful and happy. And there is so much fun things to go and do so today I wanted to share some books that bring about some good “cheer”. I found this tag originally at Book Snacks. So for this book tag, I decided to choose books solely read in 2018!
ON THE FIRST DAY OF CHRISTMAS, MY TRUE LOVE SENT TO ME: A PARTRIDGE IN A PEAR TREE.
The partridge stood alone in the pear tree. What is your favourite stand alone?
I had such a blast with this book and this was also my first Mariana Zapata read and fell in love. This does have some MC elements, but they are pretty light, the focus of the story is the romance between Dex and Iris. There is complexity and strength in both of the characters. Five Star Read!!
ON THE SECOND DAY OF CHRISTMAS, MY TRUE LOVE SENT TO ME: TWO TURTLE DOVES.
Love is in the air! Who is your one true pairing?
I love all of these pairing,and they are all brilliant!!! Embers is a four book series, and boy this pair packs such a punch. I couldn’t put them down, they are like magnets and both kick ass. Brooklynaire, is a couple that we see build up throughout a whole series and seeing them finally get their story is truly epic. In Blood Cure, we have a three book series which features Beckham and Reyna. Its a vampire romance and such a well written on the edge of your seat type of trilogy. These two just stick with you. In Serpent, we have a story that is truly epic in many ways. This is one of my favorite medieval historical’s that I have ever read. Those you have read this book know what I mean by listing this book as one of my favorite pairings for the year. Mafia and His Angel is a trilogy that is a dark romance, but what I enjoyed about this couple is that there is so much goodness and light in their relationship but outside forces is what makes it a dark romance. I love the relationship that forms between them and its such a memorable one. Then finally we have my most recent read Texas Legacy, I adored this book so much and I have been waiting over ten years for this book. This is Rawley and Faith’s book. Faith and Rawley grew up together, and they come from one of my favorite couples of all time—Dallas and Delia. We see this fun family, we see Faith and Rawley finally get a chance for their HEA. So satisfying and worth the wait.
ON THE THIRD DAY OF CHRISTMAS, MY TRUE LOVE SENT TO ME: THREE FRENCH HENS.
In the spirit of threes, what is the best trilogy you have read?
For this year, this is definitely the best trilogy I have read ALL year. I can’t tell you all how much I adore Beckham and Reyna….they will devour your thoughts for a long time and the are one of those couples that just STICK!! I love how compelling and true they are and how they fight the good fight together!!!
ON THE FOURTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS, MY TRUE LOVE SENT TO ME: FOUR CALLING BIRDS.
Since series usually consist of four or more books, what is your favourite series?
So for this past year, I would have to say that my favorite series that I have read would have to be the Dream Man series. This is four books but really I wish it had been more. But it is connected to the Chaos series which I loved. All four books are connected, we have the men in the series that work together variously thoughout the series and love seeing them find their own happy endings. These are some of my favorite alpha males I have ever read and a very diverse group too. I just adore Kristen Ashley (I know she doesn’t work for everyone, you either love her or hate her) but I LOVE how she writes her alpha males and I like her heroines because they are flawed and they make mistakes and I relate with them in many ways.
ON THE FIFTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS, MY TRUE LOVE SENT TO ME: FIVE GOLDEN RINGS.
One ring to rule them all! Who is your Favorite Villain/Antagonist?
I simply had a blast with this book and of course it is Grace Draven and I love everything that she writes. But in this book we see one of the best villains or group of villains. There is an evil king and queen who rule the land and they are both evil and truly insane.
ON THE SIXTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS, MY TRUE LOVE SENT TO ME: SIX GEESE A LAYING.
Creation is a beautiful thing. What is your favourite world/world-building?
I have to say that this epic fantasy world that Kristen Ashley has created is one of the best out there!! I loved everything about it and she did such a superb job in writing a fantasy romance at its BEST!! Every book I have read in the series so far has been amazing and I love the detail, the magical elements, and the swoony love stories she spins.
When it comes to medieval era romance, Kathryn Le Veque is one of the best out there. Do NOT let the covers fool you (because they did for me, which is why I took so long in reading her) however I simple adored this book and every book she has written since. But what I love the most is the detail and historical authenticity. Anyone that knows my reading preference in historical romance knows that I need it to feel REAL and Le Veque does this so very well. I love the rich details that she gives out and more authors could learn from her because she does her research and she knows her stuff.
Gena Showalter always creates the most EPIC and INTENSE world building out there in the genre. I always know I am in for a wild ride when I pick up one of her books and I ADORED Shadow and Ice. Now I know this one has many mixed reviews and this book is brutal think….Hunger Games for Adults so it can get pretty intense but my goodness I loved how she built up the world building in this one. SO WELL DONE!!
So this isn’t my first Larissa Ione, however this is the first book I have read from this world that Ione has created and boy was it so so GOOD!! I didn’t know what to expect but it was very unique and her spin on this paranormal world is different from anything I have read before and it has DEMONS galore. I do love a good demon romance, been reading quite a few lately. I can’t wait to delve deeper into this series of course because I love the way this author spins a story especially in this Demonica world.
ON THE SEVENTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS, MY TRUE LOVE SENT TO ME: SEVEN SWANS A SWIMMING.
Who needs seven swans when all it takes is one good animal sidekick? Who’s your favourite animal sidekick?
There is a creature in this series, that the heroine in this book takes care of and he is such a great companion for her.
ON THE EIGHTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS, MY TRUE LOVE SENT TO ME: EIGHT MAIDS A MILKING.
Milk is so 18th century. Which book or series takes beverages/food to a whole new level?
Seriously this book will make you want BERRY PIE right away…or really any kind of pie but anything with blueberries will make you hungry. Seriously while I listened to this book I went to the store for a berry pie because I couldn’t resist and only make it homemade when the berries are more fresh in summertime or early fall. But yeah, be careful because this one will make you hungry!!!
This book especially makes you want to visit your favorite restaurant. This series is about five women that start a sexy restaurant and boy I wish a place like this was REAL!!!!
Okay….so this book is based on a MMA fighter, and seriously you will WANT to eat healthy. I can’t tell you how every time read a MMA fighter romance I want to just eat lots and lots of healthy foods. I just wanted green smoothies, steamed veggie stir fry, lots of meat and MILK
I would recommend while reading or listening to this book that you make sure you go to your favorite local cupcake bakery and grab some because you will WANT some….I guarantee it. I don’t eat too much sugar anymore, but boy I was craving cupcakes so badly.
ON THE NINTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS MY TRUE LOVE SENT TO ME: NINE LADIES DANCING.
Dancing is just one skill of a Lady! Who is your favourite kickass female lead?
I just adore CASSIE so much, she is one of my favorite characters from this whole series but series in this book I loved seeing her fight for her own HEA. We see some difficult issues in this book that we don’t see in previous books that makes the breed society look horrid and yeah in how they treat her is bad. But I love how strong and resilient she is, a fighter, intelligent and kicks ass when its needed even if the ass kicking is her own mate hehe
ON THE TENTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS MY TRUE LOVE SENT TO ME: TEN LORDS A LEAPING.
How about your favourite leading lad?
I love how multi layered of a hero that Lucien is. He is such a scoundrel at times…..think regency rake who lives in modern times because that is how his character portrays. He has a great sense of humor, superb in bed and is so sweet at the most unexpected times.

What is your favourite book or bookish thing with musical influence? (It can be about music, reference music a lot etc.)
I really do love this book so much and music is a primary focus of the story which I dearly loved. It really makes you want to visit local bars for live music!!
