As the year 2022 starts to come to a close as we reach the first week of December, it’s time to look back at all the amazing books that have been released over the past year. This is where we showcase all the best books that romance has to offer!
So the Romance Choice Awards is a feature I do every year. Over the past few years, I have been very disappointed in the Goodreads Choice Awards that they release, because I feel like they only feature a specific selection of romance, and ignore all the rest. (the romance genre alone is a billion-dollar industry, and it’s massive so it tends to be so neglectful of the genre as a whole and is criminal in my opinion) so I do my own feature here, I share the year’s top picks of releases, organized by subgenre and then you can vote your own choices. These books are from December 2021 to November 2022. The rules are you can vote for as many as you would like or even enter your own choices within the form available at the bottom of the post. And then towards the end of the year, I will post the results and you can see if your favorites have won! My only exception is that I know COHO was big this year like she is every year, however, many don’t consider her romance, and we all know she will win the GR awards haha I wanted to give the other romances a chance as I feel like the titles that are below are more reflective of the genre as a whole.

Love this because I agree, the Goodreads awards are sorely lacking! I feel like the nominees are just nominated off who had the most sales. How can it be that Ilona Andrews and Patricia Briggs weren’t in the nominations?!

I voted but there are so many books that I haven’t read from your list. I think that a lot of the romance that I read this year was published in earlier years.
Wow! That’s a lot of books! I’ve read a few of those. I’ll have to go back and look at my list from this year. Right now no one or two books stands out as best for me. But I can’t remember what I had for breakfast, either. lol

As someone who for the past 3 years did my own version of a reader’s choice awards because Goodreads’ is suspicious as heck: I salute you for all the work that goes into this! I couldn’t do it again this year but really love all the community-driven ones.
I read more romance this year than ever before! Happy to see Hook Line and Sinker there because I recently read and loved it.
