I will say that I have mixed feelings on these books and the movies. I do want to applaud Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson on some marveoulous acting, they are both superb. I have admired that Fifty Shades have inspired reading especially among women. However, I will say that even though I ‘liked’ these books the first time around, I have definitely changed my views since and I honestly can’t read them anymore. However the one aspect that I have enjoyed the most, is the emotional intimacy that builds between Christian and Ana and we get to see the final installment to the story.
In Fifty Shades Freed, Christian and Ana have married and we see them go on their honeymoon through Europe and deal with Ana building her character as a fiction editor, and a danger from an enemy and an unexpected surprise.
There were pros and cons I found to this movie. There was a bit more emotion in this movie than in the second movie. I was honestly tearing up in the end, which shocked me since I didn’t expect it. And I always love feeling a more emotional connection in a romance. I did feel that the sex scenes were a bit too much for my taste to be honest. It just started to feel tedious and there were quite a few of them that I almost wanted to roll my eyes. I honestly am not a fan of how they have done these sex scenes, and I may be the only one that has issues with that, but they just don’t work for me that much.
I also felt that there were certain scenes that were too short and felt too rushed. And if you haven’t read the books, you might get a bit confused at times. I really wish we had seen more of the wedding, the honeymoon and the ending wasn’t my favorite at all. But I did like the way they handle the “suspense” side of the plot of the story. I felt that was probably one of my favorite parts.
I would like to say that I loved this movie especially since I was curious to see how they would handle certain aspects, and even though I liked it and it had its endearing moments, I didn’t love it. But it was a nice diversion from reality. I will say that if you have enjoyed the previous two movies, than you will love this one.
