A woman who defies her time
Dr. Garrett Gibson, the only female physician in England, is as daring and independent as any manโwhy not take her pleasures like one? Yet she has never been tempted to embark on an affair, until now. Ethan Ransom, a former detective for Scotland Yard, is as gallant as he is secretive, a rumored assassin whose true loyalties are a mystery. For one exhilarating night, they give in to their potent attraction before becoming strangers again.
A man who breaks every rule
As a Ravenel by-blow spurned by his father, Ethan has little interest in polite society, yet he is captivated by the bold and beautiful Garrett. Despite their vow to resist each other after that sublime night, she is soon drawn into his most dangerous assignment yet. When the mission goes wrong, it will take all of Garrett’s skill and courage to save him. As they face the menace of a treacherous government plot, Ethan is willing to take any risk for the love of the most extraordinary woman he’s ever known
Why Hello Stranger?
I am pretty sure that this cover was recently revealed and what a gorgeous cover. I just LOVE the pinks and purples with her black and white dress. Although its a contemporary style dress, I still love the cover ๐ Although the model is exactly how I picture the heroine here so that is definitely icing on the cake too.ย I just can’t wait to see what the stepback looks like though.
I love the pink background, but I dislike her dress. It looks so awkward. Since she’s a doctor, how awesome would it be if she were wearing medical-friendly clothes! ๐
I’m so excited to read it though!
Yes the pink background is lovely isn’t it? I think with the dress they were just trying to match it with the previous title Devil in Spring. But since the heroine is a doctor…she definitely wouldn’t be wearing that dress treating patients would she? And its definitely not from that era either. But I have noticed that about the covers for this series, not very realistic except for book one. I can’t wait till it comes out though. I just love both characters in previous books so it will be interesting to see how they do together right?
Those colors are gorgeous together and love the font!
oh yes…the font is so pretty right? and I do like the mix of pink and black and white even if its modernized.
That is a beautiful cover! I love the colors and her dress is so pretty.
I actually do not like this cover. ๐ It’s not historically accurate at all, and the dress looks so strange. It’s a historical romance novel! I know the designers are probably going for a modern feel for Kleypas, but it’s just so inaccurate and anachronistic. These things… kind of matter? The cover is gorgeous and I love it but not for a historical romance novel. *sigh* The same could be said for the third book in this series. The first two books’ covers… meh? Could be inaccurate too. Idk. I’m just bitter. Avon has always done such a lovely job with making covers *seem* historically accurate, even if they might not actually be. Oh well!
Have a lovely week, Renee. =)
Alyssa @ The Eater of Books!
Yeah I know….so NOT historically accurate. I think all covers except book one are like this. I understand that they are just trying to keep up with the theme of the covers of the series. I think the cover itself is gorgeous just doesn’t work in the historical romance genre. I do wish they had done the covers for this series differently though. It just doesn’t portray the stories as they are….maybe trying to modernize them a bit. Thankfully Kleypas can still write a authentic historical. But I just had to share it because it is pretty and pink and very new!!
I love this!! Although, the dress doesn’t seem ‘period’ to the time, which I think is a little confusing. But, the character is ahead of her time, so there is that.
Like the other covers in the series though this is so eye catching and stunning I can’t stop staring!
Yes all of these covers for this series are very eye catching. If too contemporary for a historical.
Haha, I knew this cover would be in the bunch somewhere! ๐
I cannot wait for this book! But I must say . . . I’m disappointed in the cover. The modern dress like many have pointed out, sure, but it’s more of the way her body is posed in front of the backdrop — it just looks awkward and a bit like cheap Photoshop (though it’s not — at least I hope not, considering it’s Avon and a big Kleypas title!). But I do like the colors used and seriously, regardless of what the cover looks like, I just want the damn book right now! Ha ๐
haha yeah you know my love affair with Kleypas.
Yeah the covers for the series are gorgeous but they aren’t historical type covers at all. And I can’t wait for this book either. I love both Ethan and Garrett. I can see them making a good couple right?
Definitely! It’s going to be amazing. Plus I just love Garrett and I’m so thrilled she’s getting a story.
I love the coloring in this cover as well, it’s so eye catching ! As some others have mentioned in the comments I have started to noticed some of the dresses on historical romances look a little less of the time, it’s like there is less corset shown.
Since the stepbacks generally have a shirtless guy, I look forward to that, too. LOL. This cover is gorgeous, though the black & white is not my favorite color choice. Winterborne’s book is my favorite of the series, so far. But I am with you guys & can’t wait to read this book!
oh I agree Sharlene, Winterbournes is the best of the series in my opinion. As much as I liked Devil in Spring, the romance and the couple in book 2 wins!! So I am interested to see how Kleypas writes this book here.
Even though they’re not always historically accurate, I think Kleypas has some beautiful covers for her novels. I can’t wait to start reading this one!! *grabby hands*
I agree, she always has pretty covers!!!
That is very eye catching!
It does draw the eye doesn’t it?
I really like this cover too. And even though the dress doesn’t quite work for the time period, I don’t really care. And that pink background – I love it so much!
oh yay…I was hoping you would love it too. But I think the dresses for the whole series aren’t historically accurate but they are pretty and elegant….oh well. ๐
Quinn’s right, the dress isn’t accurate for the time period but it is lovely. I love the bright pink and purple. It’s the perfect backdrop for that lovely dress. I can’t wait for this book.
I couldn’t quit looking at this cover as soon as I saw it…plus it is Kleypas. Definitely need this one in my life.
I love the pinks in this one.
That sure is a stunning combination of colors, the pink of the background with the black and white of the dress.
