Elite New To Me Authors of 2021

by | Dec 16, 2021 | End of Year Survey | 6 comments

Welcome to the next segment of the Elite Romance series of 2021.  This post is where I am going to list my TOP reads of the year, which wasn’t easy to narrow down. I have had a decent reading year and I am thrilled to be able to share all the delicious reads that I have here.

In this segment of this series, I am going to share all the great authors I was able to discover and I discovered so many good ones so it was difficult to narrow down this list. But these are my top picks of the year.

TJ Klune is one of those authors that everyone raves about and one I was so nervous about. Honestly, I blame the booktube world for convincing me to read this author. I just love paranormal romance and especially shifter romance, with a M/M connection isn’t common and I heard this book was amazing and surprisingly this book and this author’s writing style just worked so well. I can’t wait to explore more of his work.

This is an author I have seen around the book community for years, but never got the courage to read her. However, when I saw so many good reviews for this series, I knew I needed to try her out. There is such a deep complexity to her writing that just pulled me in so completely. She is easy and quick to read but also leaves you with surprises along the way.

This author blew my mind away and I wasn’t sure that this book would end up being for me but ironically it was and it shocked me. I just saw and read so many raving reviews featured around this one here and I knew that this was one that I needed to try out. And I loved his writing. Very addictive style of writing, and after the first scene you would never expect this author to make you fall so hard but this author is so talented and deserves more love.

K Webster is a author I was on the fence about for a while. She writes really gritty dark romance. And this trilogy was my weakness. I really respect this author’s writing and be able to write such a story that will work for you despite its troubling content that may seem conflicting at times but also is deeply intricate.

I had heard about this author for years, and she is known for writing unconventional paranormal romances and I just found the story line to this one to be so unique but fun dynamics that made for a fabulous adventure.

This author was one I didn’t think I would enjoy as much as I did. This book was one of those backlisted netgalley reads and I found this book to be colorful, rich and impressionable. I can’t wait to see more of this author’s work .

Giana Darling is an author that I wish I could recommend to everyone. I just love her books so much. I was first drawn to her when I saw an interview she did (I recommend watching because she is such a sweetheart—via The Book Refuge’s youtube channel) her books are dark romance, featuring motorcyle clubs but they also have so much heart and she really delivers on such a deep emotional level.

This is an author I have had on my TBR for years, when these books came out years ago, they were pretty popular. This author writes a mix of erotic romance, with historical and mythological fantastical elements. And this author really surprised me in how much this one worked for me. Her writing style was so fascinating.

This is an author I probably never would have picked up until I started to see so many good reviews on Instagram and youtube so I picked her up and WOW!! I became so impressed. The way she builds her world and the quick easy writing is highly addictive. I binged on this whole series so quicly. I can’t wait to explore her work further.

Aja James is an author I have been so many raving reviews for on Goodreads for the past year or so and I just had to see what all the hype was all about. And I LOVED her work so much. Her writing is a unique mix of paranormal mostly with a touch of mythological fantasy ….I know that blend sounds different, but I guarantee you will fall in love with it. It just worked so well and I am excited to explore more of her work.

I don’t read too many romantic comedies lately, but I just had to see what the hype was featuring this author and she is one of the few rom-com authors left that hasn’t switched to illustrated covers. And I ADORED this book so much, it just had everything I would come to expect in an authentic romantic comedy and more.

Pam Godwin is an author that I just know with this one book that she will soon become one of my favorite authors. There was so much goodness in this book and this author sweeps you away so deeply in the emotion and the magic of the moment that you can’t help but be enthralled by her work.

I’ve had several of Giana Darling’s books on my TBR for ages. I need to make those a priority next year!

Sam Mariano was also new to me this year. I’ve now read 3 by her and enjoyed them all for different reasons. If you liked K. Webster, I enjoyed Sundays are for Hangovers. She wrote that one with J.D. Hollyfield. It was so fun! I know I’ve read others by her, but can’t remember what off the top of my head. Emma Hart is also fun. Miss Fix It is still my favorite by her, but I’ve loved so many.
