Paradise, love, power…and a prophecy with a price.

Most people believe Eden no longer exists. Lexi Merrill’s about to learn they’re wrong. A hard-working bartender with a self-sufficient backbone and a wary nature, she knows pickup lines like a second language. So, when Eryx Shantos barges into her world with too-smooth words and a body to back it up, she locks up her libido and vows to keep her distance.
Eryx has other ideas. As king of the Myren race, Eryx is duty-bound to enforce the laws preventing exposure of their existence to humans. Yet The Fates have led him through his dreams to Lexi, a temptation he doesn’t want to resist. The question--is she Myren, or human, which makes her forbidden fruit?
When Eryx’s nemesis tags Lexi as his next target, Eryx insists on taking her home where he can keep her safe. Lexi had no idea “home” would mean the one-and-only land of creation…or that she’d trigger a prophecy that could doom her newfound race.

My Review UpdatedSummary

Lexi Merrill is working as a bartender, but when a handsome stranger walks through the door wanting her attention—she avoids him. He is different from most men she comes across with her job, and the last thing she needs is a distraction like Eryx Shantos. But Eryx, is a man and king of his people and he knows that Lexi is his mate. He has dreamed of her and is planning on keeping her, even if he has to court her and prove to her how genuine he is in his feelings for her. Lexi is thrown off course upon learning the truth of who she really is, and even though it seems fast she has never felt anything more right than giving Eryx a chance. But time is running out for both of them, because Lexi’s life is in danger by Eryx’s greatest enemy. He takes her to Eden, where she will be protected. Lexi and Eryx soon learn that falling in love was the easy part…now they will have to fight to keep it!!!

The Hero

Eryx Shantos, was anointed as King of Eden and does everything in his power to do what is right for his people. When he realizes that his mate might be one of the “lost ones” he goes in search of her. Along with his trusted bodyguard, Ludan. Eryx is a man of power but he is also a man who is compassionate, understanding and mischievous at times. He is possessive especially when it comes to Lexi. In this story, we see our hero learn some painful lessons. Lexi isn’t your typical mate, and is a fighter and he will have to learn to be fully honest with her and trust in her abilities. What I truly enjoyed about Eryx is how he treats Lexi. He is very respectful of her boundaries, but at the same time isn’t going to be a passive puppy either.

The Heroine

Lexi Merrill is a woman who is passionate and fierce….but only sees herself as average and boring. Lexi’s life is turned topsy turvy when she learns of her true heritage. She never imagined that her once simple existence would be changed with the appearance of one man. But as she finds herself falling in love with him and when she learns the real truth of who Eryx is. Lexi has to face her fears and reservations about herself, and hold true. Lexi was a quirky and fun heroine you could get behind!! I really loved her character because she is perfect for Mr. King here. I did enjoy seeing her character blossom in the story. We see her strengths and some of her weaker points change into something stronger!! I love the growth of our heroine and seeing how the people of Eden slowly fall in love with her.

Plot and Story Line

Unexpected Eden is a book I have had on my kindle for the longest time. I bought it almost a year ago, and I figured it was time I read Eryx and Lexi’s story!! And man it was so worth reading and I just read it too fast, it was so good. I had a blast with this story and after seeing this couple interact in the later books I knew I would fall in love with them and I so did. This is the type of story you love having the chance to read. Where we have typical “middle class” , a regular person who just lives day by day be thrown into circumstances that are tough but seeing them blossoms under the radar despite the pressure they are under. Lexi is the perfect heroine, because she is fiery yet suffers from self doubts just like most “normal” people do. I felt like I could relate with her in so many ways because she felt so normal. I was very intrigued by how the story starts off. We have an entertaining scene upon their first meeting in a bar where she works. Now Lexi, shrugs Eryx off…and that was fun. Because Eryx, as much as I love him…is too cocky for his own good. She really humbles him in the beginning here and he has to work for it to even gain her notice. LOVE this scenario here. Seeing some alpha type male, grovel and court which Lexi definitely deserves especially when we learn about her past and what she has overcome. Then we are taken to Eden, where their relationship has definitely changed. We see her deal with new experiences and see Eryx struggle with balancing his duties as King (and trying to keep it from her) now thankfully she learns the truth not too far in the book, so it wasn’t dragged out too much. But Lexi is so understanding about it all. Even though she is overwhelmed and a bit pissed off for being kept in the dark about it, she isn’t a “harpy” about it at all. I loved the way she works through challenges and was quite refreshing in many ways. This is such a wonderful story that sets the tone for the rest of the series!!

I want you as my baineann, Alexis. I’ve wanted it from the first time I found you in my dreams. I’ve wanted it since I first saw you in the flesh. I want you in a way a starving man wants food. In a way that is completely irrational and insane

The Cover

What a cover…I just love the toned muscle and the metal band around the arm….it just draws my attention!!

Overall View

Unexpected Eden is a romance that packs a punch and it pulls at the heartstrings in ways you can’t imagine!! A fast paced story that delivers!!!

About The Author Updated

About Rhenna Morgan

Rhenna Morgan writes for the same reason she reads—to escape reality.

Yes, her life rocks—two beautiful little girls, a great husband, a steady job, and the kind of friends that would take you out back if you hurt her. But, like most women, she’s got obligations stacked tight from dusk to dawn. So, when the world gets her down, she slips into something…less realistic.

Romance is a must. So is a steamy romp (or four). Nothing thrills her more than the fantasy of new, exciting worlds, strong, intuitive men, and the sigh of, “Oh if only that could happen to me.”

So, if you’re picking up one of her books, expect portals into alternate realms and men who’ll fight to keep the women they want. Romantic escape for the women who need it.
