All she has to do is figure out the science necessary to save his life, and she's done. Something isn't adding up, though, and she won't rest until she uncovers the truth-even if it's buried in his deep, dangerous kiss.
A passion she can't resist...
Jory will do anything to reunite with and save his brothers—even kidnap the gorgeous woman who's working to deactivate the deadly chip in their spines. But the forces determined to destroy his family won't let them go so easily. Keeping Piper alive is more than he bargained for—and so is his burning desire for her. But with every second bringing him closer to certain death, can he afford to lose himself in her hot and willing embrace?

My Review

Summary

Jory Dean has been imprisoned for two years. After being shot, he was in a coma for months, and now is working on building up his strength and resistance. He knows that he needs to escape and soon, because its not just his life on the line, but its also his brothers lives on the line. Jory and his brothers were genetically engineered as a military experiment to create the perfect soldier. There is one down side, when they escaped five years previous, they have a kill swith and it goes off within one week. Jory knows that he is running out of time, he needs to find a way to escape and get to his brothers before its too late for all of them. The commander has ordered a new computer whiz to work on the chips and the coding. Piper Oliver has worked hard to become the talent with a computer as she has become. She wants to build a relationship with her father who is the commander and so takes on this job. As she converses with Jory, she starts to become confused, she doesn’t know who to believe her father or this sexy man that make her yearn for more in her life. When Jory escapes and takes her along, she finds herself unable to resist her attraction to Jory, but soon Piper will have to make a choice….stand by the man she loves or by a father who has never been there.

The Hero

Jory Dean is a hero who just come to love. I have been waiting for his story ever since I started this series. Jory is the youngest of the brothers. When they were first created, he was considered the “weak” one, didn’t come into his strength until later.

Even the smallest lion can have a big roar.

His strength came first in his brain. Jory has always been a bit of a geek especially when it comes to anything electronic. Eventually, Jory came into his own physical strength and became just as formidable as his brothers.

I’m a fucking killing machine, and you’re a sweet little hacker who likes to flirt with danger. Baby, I am danger.

After being captured while on an undercover mission to save himself and his brothers, he is shot and almost dies. But one of the bullets that pierce him, damages his chip and he knows that he will not survive. But he has always felt indebted to his brothers for protecting him and keeping them together. He will do everything in his power to save them even if he can’t save himself.  Jory was such a unique character, and I love the geeky but sexy ones. They just are perfect for me because I love a man that uses his brain.

The Heroine

Piper Oliver was raised with a loving mother. After she graduated college and started working with the NSA, she went searching for her father, a man her mother was highly intimidated by and would never speak of. Piper wanted to know why he was so bad. So looking for more information on her father, she hacks into his company and almost gets put into jail, but then her father rescues her and offers her a job. She is more than willing, wanting to believe everything that her father tells her about what he does and most especially about Jory. Piper is a computer analyst and quite a genius when it comes to computers. She can hack just about anything. What was most fascinating about her character was seeing her battle through her emotions and trying to decide who to trust. From her point of view she doesn’t see who her father really is, and maybe on a deep level is in denial through much of the story, because of her desire to have a father in her life. I enjoyed the heroine quite a bit, but her being in denial for so much of the book, got a bit annoying at times, but she does follow through and stands with the man she loves, and that action definitely redeemed her in my eyes.

“I’ll do my best to get back to you.”
“I’m coming with you.” She leaned in and licked his right nipple.
He shivered. “No.”
She nipped. “Yes. I’m the hero of my own damn story, Jory Dean. Protect me all you want, but this once, I’m needed with you.

Despite a few of my reservations about her character, I couldn’t help but admire her wit and strength.

Plot and Story Line

Total Surrender is the fourth book, and I am not sure if its the last one, I am hoping we will have more since the ending did leave us with a bit of a teaser for another book. This is a book I have been looking forward to seeing book one. In books one and two I suspected that Jory was alive and was really hoping he would be alive and boy was I glad to see that he was. We really sense how much the other brothers love Jory and will do anything for their baby brother. We get a beginning scene of when they were kids, and oh my goodness, it just about made me cry. Jory is the heart of the family, and he gets what his brothers really need before they do. I loved how honest and true he is. He has been protected by them and feels he owes them a debt for all that they have sacrificed for him. His situation was so heartbreaking because he believes he won’t survive due to his damaged chip. He then escapes and kidnaps Piper, he is drawn to her, but he senses that she is the key to saving his brothers. And then the sweet reunion that we have between the brothers, I will admit I became quite emotional because you just see how much they love each other and not a dry eye here.

No more fucking good-byes. I am so done with that shit and with all of us sacrificing our lives. We’re fucking done, and we’ll all fucking live. The first guy who tells me good-bye ever again, even if he’s just going to the fucking grocery store, gets a fist planted in his fucking face.

It was so perfect in the way it was executed and BRAVO to Rebecca Zanetti. Then we see the brothers working together, all four of them to survive and live that happily ever after that they have all fought so hard to find and achieve. Now lets talk the romance that we have here with Jory and Piper. It was simply wonderful, what more can I say. It only lasts about a week, but boy what a week. Its fiery hot but powerfully tender. I adored seeing how these two fight for one another, and fight for their lives alongside the other brothers and the women that stand beside them.

Jory gripped her chin, turning her to face him. His jaw hardened, and he tried to remain gentle. “Time to make a choice, sweetheart. Please. Choose me.”

Things tend to get pretty intense toward the end, with each chapter in this book, the plot escalates in action and dramatic effect, but so many more revealing things….three more brothers or more!! In fact, one of my favorite new supporting characters was Chance, he just won my heart over instantly. He is very much like Matt, which was fun to see the common denominators between them. I love how this family with their spouses and a few others, create this family unit. The ending especially was so fabulous and just had me in tears. If you read the series in order, we see how each book has been building up to this moment and it was…Voila….PERFECTION!! I want more and more of these Sin Brothers. If you love romantic suspense with a hint of paranormal elements….this is a MUST READ SERIES!! Top favorite books of all time.

The Cover

I love love this cover. I like a good strong back and boy this is too good to look at. And with the blue background…just the perfect touch to a great story.

Overall View

Total Surrender is a truly magnificent tale, with its fast-paced plot, captivating characters, unique twists to blow your mind, and enough sexy action to keep you flipping those pages!! Highly ENTERTAINING!!

About Rebecca Zanetti

his theme of romance has been carried through Rebecca’s works until present time. While today’s heroine may have a medical degree, black belt in Karate and her own 401K, she’s still after that happy ending. And today’s prince may have fangs and wear a black hat, but hey, a modern princess likes a guy who bites.

Rebecca attended Pepperdine University, earning a bachelor’s degree in Journalism with a Political Science emphasis. While there she worked as the Editor-in-Chief of The Graphic newspaper, a member of the Pi Phi Sorority and an intern for President Reagan, who still gave 3-5 speeches a week, even though he was no longer president.

After college, Rebecca worked as an art curator and a Senate aide before heading to law school, where she received her Juris Doctorate from the University of Idaho. She married Tony Zanetti in the middle of her second year of law school and became pregnant with their first child during the third year. She graduated law school, gave birth three weeks later, and took the Bar Exam three weeks after that. All she remembers about the bar exam is that it was so quiet in the testing room, she thought about taking a quick nap. But she continued on, passed the bar and became a lawyer. She worked for a large firm, then a small firm, then the county while also teaching legal classes at her local community college. Now she writes romances about vampires, cowboys, and soldiers.

Growing up amid the glorious backdrops and winter wonderlands of the Pacific Northwest has given Rebecca fantastic scenery and adventures to weave into her stories. She resides there with her husband, children and extended family who inspire her every day. Rebecca has completed several manuscripts, winning award throughout the writing industry for her work. She is currently writes the Dark Protector series for Kensington Publishing, the Maverick Montana series for Entangled Publishing, and the Sin Brothers series for Grand Central Publishing.

I was super excited to finally see the brothers together. Yeah, that early scene choked me up, too. I really do hope she pursues those other possible threads. What a surprise that twist was there in the end.

This is the last one in the series, Renee, apart from if the author suddenly decides to write one more for us 🙂 I loved Jory, just as I loved the other brothers in the books before this one 🙂
I’m glad you had such a good time with this whole series!
