The bride and groom cordially request the presence of...
The bride's sister, Delilah, the very proper widowed Lady Hargate, and Samuel Russell, the groom's friend, a very eligible, slightly improper bachelor, at their upcoming wedding.
Lady Hargate and Mr. Russell, previously acquainted during one unforgettable night in New York City when caution--and clothing--were thrown to the wind will choose to pretend they have never met before.
The lady plans to avoid love and its complications at all costs. The gentleman intends to change her mind.
Guests are invited to enjoy the many diversions of Millworth Manor--delightful grounds, lavish drawing rooms, secluded corners--and the chance to discover that one night may have been only the beginning. . .

Lady Delilah Hargate, lives for propriety and tradition. Born and raised in England she has always wanted to follow the rules and do the right thing, until she visits America, and meets the dashing Mr. Russell, where they engage in a sensual adventure. But once she returns to England, she puts the incident from her mind, even though she never felt so free as she did then in Samuel’s arms. Now her older sister Camille, is getting married, and one of Gray’s closest friends happens to be the one and only Samuel Rusell, and no one is more shocked than Delilah Hargate. At first Delilah reacts to his appearance with rudeness and cool demeanor. Then she discovers that the feelings she once had for him come tumbling back, and she can’t resist the temptation of being in his arms. She wonders how she will keep Sam from breaking her heart as her late husband once did. Will Delilah choose love over what she believes is right, or is Samson perfectly right for her?

The Scandalous Adventures of the Sister of the Bride (Boy is that a long title or what??) is the latest installment in the Millworth Manor series. As much as I adore Victoria Alexander, I do feel that her writing has faltered a bit in this one, or maybe it is just me. Her earlier books are absolutely wonderful and some of the best romance novels, but this one I had the hardest time getting into, so hard, I almost gave up on it. But I decided that I needed to try to make it halfway, and if I wasn’t into it by then I would put it down. But since it is a ARC I always try to finish them if I can, and I am glad I did. By the last third of the book I could see the true writing of Alexander, I am just a bit sad it took so long to get to that point before I really started enjoying it. Now that I have read the story, I feel like it didn’t have much consistency that I am used to from this author. It was almost like riding that roller coaster that has never ending twists in its flow that keep you from fully getting immersed in the story. Now having said that, I will say that I really enjoyed the basis of the story and the characters were fun and infectious.

There was quite a battle of wills going on between Samuel and Delilah, and at times it was very entertaining, however Delilah grated on my nerves from beginning to end. Samuel is a saint with all of his patience, he could be like Job for all he had to endure from Delilah, and I felt so bad for him. He definitely didn’t deserve her manner towards him which was very rude mostly. I do love a heroine who is a fighter, but you start to definitely feel as if you are in a tug of war. I did love it when she finally eases up on him, and then that is when their relationship starts to really flourish and I really enjoyed seeing these two together. The other sub characters were such a treat to see, and I have loved this family. Each member is so unique and different, and you wouldn’t think they are part of the same family since this family is packed with different spices of individuals but in the end make a tasty treat.

Overall a fun and enjoyable read, takes a while to get into, but once you are fully involved in the story, it will be impossible to not laugh your head off seeing these two make a relationship work!! Loved the tension and the sensual connection. Steamy and sexy and loved the little elements that made this a solid romance. I can hardly wait for the next book!!
