Miranda MacDonnell is on the run. When she inherited a mysterious relic from her mother, she had no idea the dangers it would bring. Now hunted by a relentless foe who will stop at nothing to find her, she has one choice: stow away on the ship of the notorious privateer, Black Hawk.

Rob Hawkins, the half-English privateer known as Black Hawk, has a mission from the Tudor king to find and kill the rogue commander, Sir Ralph Evers. To complete his quest, Hawk must find Miranda, a young woman Evers is pursuing. Caught in a tempest, he is shipwrecked with a "boy" who demonstrates an uncanny ability for saving him. Cast away on the mysterious Isle of the Dead, Hawk realizes that the "boy" traveling with him is actually Miranda MacDonnell and having her means that Evers will come to him. What begins as a ploy —using her as bait—soon changes, however, as he falls in love with her.

Ancient forces are at work, drawing the four possessors of the relic’s power to the Isle of the Dead in the Outer Hebrides for a final battle where good must overcome the forces of evil in this spectacular finale to the Scottish Relic Trilogy.

Summary

Miranda McDonnell is forced to flee and go on the run with her mother’s precious relic with her and the curse that comes along with it, horrible visions of the future. She stows away on a privateer’s ship “Black Hawk” and poses as a boy. But when a terrible storm hits the ship and Rob Hawkins, the Captain also known as the Black Hawk is thrown overboard, she goes after him. They both end up on a deserted island and Miranda knows that she needs to keep up the pretense of her disguise, because if he discovers the truth than she might not be able to save him in the future. Rob Hawkins, has lived his life at his own pleasure, doing what needs to be done to get out of his fathers thumb and carve his own path in life. What he never expected was a boy saving his life multiple times, or that he would discover the “boy” true secret and fall in love with her

Plot and Story Line

Tempest of the Highlands continues off from where book 2 ended. Our two couples are on the search for the missing piece, the relic that will tie everything and all of them together. It starts off with the attack on Miranda’s home, and being forced to flee. Miranda has always had special “gifts” and has felt fear and sacrifice all of her life. She is being hunted and so she disguises herself. This was a short and quick read, you could easily read it in one sitting. I really like that all three books are tied together, and in Tempest Of The Highlands, it brings it all together and the pieces just fall into place. I did feel like the romance felt a bit too rushed at times. Which makes sense since it didn’t feel the length of a full novel. But everything else was simply fantastic. We have a plot that is exciting, keeps you on edge, and has plenty of mystery and magical tones that keeps the reader in suspense. The way that Miranda and Rob join forces together was fantastic, and this story was a whirlwind of adventure, mystery and danger. This couple writing pair certainly knows how to write a story to entertain.

I love you more than it’s imaginable to love any person

The Cover

I really like the white roses at the center…so classically pretty and looks well with the blue plaid behind them.

This sounds like a fun story, Renee 🙂 I guess I will just have to add it to my TBR shelf, eh? I especially like that the heroine is pretending to be a boy 🙂 On a deserted island, no less 😀
