When old friends become new lovers...anything can happen.

Sexy, gifted, and loyal, PI Jacob Decker is a tall, cool drink of perfection who had Emmanuelle Holmes at "hello." His relationship with Emme's best friend kept them apart for years, but things have changed. Now that a case has brought him to Gnaw Bone, Colorado, the road is wide open for Emme and Deck to explore something hotter and deeper than Emme dreamed possible. So why is she sabotaging the best thing that's ever happened to her?

It isn't easy to catch Deck off guard, but Emme does just that when she walks back into his life after nine long years. The curvy brunette had her charms back in the day, but now she's a bona fide knockout . . . and she wants to rekindle their friendship. Deck, however, wants more. Emme's always been the one; she excites Deck's body and mind like no other woman can. But a dark chapter from Emme's past overshadows their future together. Now only Deck can help her turn the page-if she'll let him . . .

Kaleidoscope is the fifth book in the “Colorado Mountain” series that Kristen Ashley has done, which is set in Colorado in rural areas. I am in love with this series so much, I am very impressed with how well this series has developed and within each installment you fall in love with these towns and such a diverse fast of characters that we are introduced to. In Kaleidoscope we have a second chance romance that has a unique twist to the story that I really enjoyed seeing come to fruition.

Kaleidoscope begins with our hero, PI Jacob Decker, who has come back to Gnaw Bone, for a job and realizing he wants to settle back here again especially when he sees a woman he hasn’t seen in years, and a woman he has been in love with for many years. But there were other facts involved in their past that kept them from being together. But now his new mission, conflicts with his love interest and a woman he would trust with his life. Because Emme’s current boyfriend is suspected of criminal activity and Decker will have to prove that Emme is innocent and bring down the man that she is with because he is certain he is guilty of his crimes. But when he and Emme meet up again, it only confirms his realization that Emme is innocent and her relationship is now at all what it seems. But as Decker and Emme get to know each other again,  they will need to face up to their pasts and the love they have always had for each other.

I fell in love with this book so much and Kaleidoscope was a beautiful romance in only the way that KA can do. I was really curious about this one and I am happy that this was a another winner for me and so happy to finally have had Decker’s book because I have been waiting a while for his story and it was everything I could have hoped for. This was a mix of second chance, unrequited love and friends to lovers. Both the hero and heroine grew up together, So I really loved seeing how they reconnect so quickly. Now I do want to point out that there is no CHEATING. Yes the heroine is in a relationship in the beginning of the story, but her heart isn’t in the relationship and has felt uneasy with her boyfriend and hasn’t given him full comittment yet and isn’t even sure she wants to. But nothing happens between Decker and Emme until her current relationship is over and I like how they both respect that and wait for that. We see so much connection that these two have with each other and their romance is so beautifully done. I really loved how they reconnect and the intimacy between them is very detailed and sweeps you off your feet.

Now there is a level of suspense that is included, which is no surprise as we have seen that in previous books, but its not a strong element. It doesn’t take over the romance and I really loved seeing how much these two just fit perfectly for each other. Decker is the type of alpha male that I love to read, where he likes control and all that and does have some possessive qualities but only takes control in the relationship when he is worried for Emme’s safety but other than that I love how he does respect her opinion even if he doesn’t agree with them.

About Kristen Ashley

Kristen Ashley was born in Gary, Indiana, USA. She nearly killed her mother and herself making it into the world, seeing as she had the umbilical cord wrapped around her neck (already attempting to accessorise and she hadn't taken her first breath!).

Kristen grew up in Brownsburg, Indiana but has lived in Denver, Colorado and the West Country of England. Thus she has been blessed to have friends and family around the globe. Her posse is loopy (to say the least) but loopy is good when you want to write.

Kristen was raised in a house with a large and multi-generational family. They lived on a very small farm in a small town in the heartland and existed amongst the strains of Glenn Miller, The Everly Brothers, REO Speedwagon and Whitesnake (and the wardrobes that matched).

Needless to say, growing up in a house full of music, clothes and love was a good way to grow up.

And as she keeps growing up, it keeps getting better.
