Live hard, f*ck harder and follow only their own rules. Those are the cornerstones the six men of the Haven Brotherhood live and bleed by, refusing to conform to society's expectations, taking what they want and always watching each other's backs.
Trevor Raines lives on the edge of legal. A good guy doing bad things to save lives, the only rules he follows are the Brotherhood's, and there's nothing in the world that will change that. Until Natalie Jordan walks into his life…
Natalie's only interest is in making a fresh start. She's a woman with a plan, and the plan doesn't include a man with secrets, no matter how kind—or intoxicating—he is. But this cowboy is determined to break down her walls, keep her safe and make her his.
Trevor had no interest in settling down, but there's something entirely too appealing about the woman he can't stay away from. There's only one thing to do—change his plans…and hers. When Natalie's ex resurfaces to threaten her new life, Trevor will move heaven and earth to make sure the bastard can't hurt her again. Except saving Natalie means outing his own secrets—and it could mean losing her forever…
Summary
Trevor, along with those of the brotherhood, live on the edge, saving lives when he can even if it means being on the edge of the law but he has never regretted the chance to make a difference in others lives. His ability to protect others and sense a certain danger extends even to those that work for him. One of the business that he owns and runs, a bar the center of Dallas, one of his waitresses, is having trouble with her ex who is causing serious problems for her and her son and his protective instincts go haywire. Natalie main concern is making a fresh start for herself and her seven year old son. She has come back from a painful marriage, and marriage which only good thing was her son, Levi. She is working hard to get her nursing license again, working two jobs and still spending as much time as she can with Levi. She never expected that her boss would be a knight in shining armor, giving life back into her son or making her feel desired and cherished. But her ex husband will prove to do everything he can to make sure they don’t have a future together…
The Hero
Trevor was a hero that I just liked from the very beginning. He makes the best book boyfriend and so swoony, I just fell in love with him from the beginning and he is a cowboy to boot…so I fell for him pretty quickly. He is wonderful with kids, and most especially with Levi. I love how protective and caring he is of Natalie and her boy. I think what impressed me most is seeing the way he cares about others and that he takes action. And yes sometimes its on the edge of the law, but he tries to help those in need.
The Heroine
Natalie once thought that she was in love when she married, but the moment she gave birth to her son Levi, her husband changed into a man she didn’t recognize. And the moment he started to get violent with her son, she left and they divorced and now she is working hard to rebuild her life. To get back her nursing license again, working two jobs, while having to share custody of her son despite the fact that he was abusive and doing her hardest to keep her son happy and upbeat. Natalie was a heroine I really admired, She is put in a terrible situation and I did like seeing her courage and fighting spirit especially when it came to her son.
Plot and Story Line
Claim and Protect is the third book in this latest series by Rhenna Morgan and I can honestly say that these are some of the best books I think this author has written. There is something so unique and wonderful about this brotherhood and I fall in love with this series even more. In this book we have Trevor’s story, whom we don’t really see all that much in the previous two books and boy did I love seeing a deeper side to him. We get some fun interactions between Trevor and other members of the brotherhood, although not as much as I would have liked, but that is alright, since the romance is what blew me away with this book. It doesn’t start out with them straight into a relationship. Its more they slowly ease their way into it, at first its some great chemistry and there is a good connection between Trevor and Natalie’s son Levi. Now Levi was such a charming character, and probably one of my favorite side characters in this series so far. He is the most adorable little boy, especially in his excitement over being a “cowboy” just like Trevor. He has the exuberance of a child, but he also is very wise at times, with what he has gone through with his father makes sense. I did enjoy the way that responds so well to Trevor and wants his mother and Trevor to be together. I felt that the relationship between Trevor and Natalie was smooth and slow, how they slowly get to know each other. It was pretty wonderful to see the way they connected and the truly tender moments. Its what makes this book so powerful, is seeing them working through their issues without even fully realizing it, building trust and intimacy and it was so sweet and endearing yet powerful too.
You don’t have to prove anything to me, Trevor. You do that every time you look at me. Every time you smile or touch me.
The Cover
I think this might be my favorite of the covers so far, has a more realistic rustic effect to it, and I like how the sun is shining behind the model, and his EYES….love it and he is exactly how I picture him in the book so it works for me.
Overall View
Claim and Protect is a thrilling and stunning romance, with a swoon worthy hero, a endearing heroine, a little boy that charms your soul, and a romance to make you smile and a story to melt yourself in!!
Trevor sounds dreamy and I do love a good book boyfriend and hero! Great review!
Gosh! Trevor sounds so amazing! I’m already a little bit in love with him. I feel for Natalie, and she sounds like a really great heroine. Her relationship with Trevor sounds exactly the kind that I like.
Adding this series to my summer TBR! 🙂
I am such a sucker for nice-guy heroes, and it really sounds like Trevor is that. I realize that he skirts the law, but he seems kind and caring and that is sooo up my alley, these days. Great review, lady! I’m adding this to my ever growing TBR.
Honestly that first sentence in the blurb makes me think of him as an ass
In the end, “swoony book boyfriends” is all romance readers could ask for, isn’t it? 😀
okay for some reason I thought this was a MC romance? I love that the hero treated the little boy well. so looking this up
I’M GOING TO READ THIS BOOK!!! Yay, sounds AWESOME. Thanks for sharing, honey. Fantastic review. Love it! ????❤️
I haven’t checked out this series yet but it looks like I need to! 😉 Sounds like a fantastic read.
I clicked on this book mostly because of that that jawline and scruff. 😀 😀 😀 😀 Mmmm, cowboy, I don’t read nearly enough romance novels featuring a cowboy. Usually I don’t like to read romance novels with kids, but this one sounds okay. I’m glad you enjoyed this book, Renee!
Have a wonderful week. =)
