After her husband’s death, widow Laurie Spencer is left with nothing but the money she finds in the saddlebags of a dead soldier. Determined to be independent, she invests it in a ranch with Jared Smith, but when she doesn’t have enough for a full partnership, she reluctantly throws herself in as part of the deal.
Playing housekeeper means plenty of time in close quarters with the sexy cowboy. Soon, they’re in each other’s arms, but personal demons keep Jared from admitting he’s falling in love. When he finally sees what was right in front of him, it’s going to take more than a lasso to get her back into his arms where she belongs.
Why To Love and To Cherish?
I really had so much fun with this one, and I wanted to give a shout out to this one since the number of ratings are pretty low. Leigh Greenwood is one of the most talented male authors I have ever read, and boy does he write a great historical romance. The spin of a people where there is a sense of family, a town that came out west together on a wagon train, and now are helping each other build a community. The chemistry between Laurie and Jared is pretty powerful, and this author brings to life this fabulous western that is riveting, emotionally driven and packs a punch.
It’s great to see a male author in this genre. You’ve piqued my interest. 🙂
It is…especially since its so rare to find a talented male author.
I’ve looked at his books for years but never read one. Crazy I know.
haha maybe you should!!
I don’t think that I have read his work before. I just recently found out that it was a male author which did make me a bit more curious. I know that I have several of his books on my kindle so maybe I will try to work one in soonish.
oh you definitely should pick him up, I just know that you would like his work. He is very talented.
This sounds good. I love when you find an author that really works for you 🙂
It is isn’t it? I have enjoyed this author for many years.
I have read so few male romance authors. I will have to check out Greenwood’s books. (based on the way he spelled Leigh, I thought it was a girl! Interesting that being a girl might have gotten him more sales in the romance genre. I know lots of women don’t care for male romance authors!)
haha you know, I have read him for fifteen years, and until a few years ago I honestly thought he was a girl hehe Mostly because his writing doesn’t seem like a male author.
Oh I feel like I don’t read a lot (or enough) male romance authors! This sounds like a great story! Glad you loved it! Thanks for sharing (:
If you haven’t picked up this author, you definitely should. I have loved him for years.
You remind me, I’ve been meaning to go back for this one and book two. I read book three. Agreed, Greenwood’s books are fab.
This does sound good. It always makes me sad when books I really enjoyed have so little reviews or ratings.
I’ve really got to try him out!
