Emma Cane welcomes you to Fairfield Orchard, where new love blooms and romance is always in season.
For Amy Fairfield, the family orchard is more than a business. With its blossom-scented air and rows of trees framed by the majestic Blue Ridge Mountains, it’s her heritage and her future. But right now, it’s also a headache. Putting a painful breakup behind her, Amy has come home to help revitalize Fairfield Orchard. She doesn’t have time for the handsome—distracting—professor who wants to dig into her family’s history for his research.
Jonathan Gebhart knows he needs the Fairfields’ cooperation to make his new book a success. As for Amy—nothing in his years of academia could have prepared him for their sudden and intense attraction. He doesn’t want to complicate her life further, especially since she seems uneasy about his poking around in the past and he knows he’s not the sort of man built for forever. But some sparks can’t help but grow, and Jonathan and Amy may just learn that unexpected love can be the sweetest of all.

My Review Updated

Summary

For Amy Fairfield, coming back to the Orchard isn’t her dream come true. She has just come back from a painful breakup, and with her parents retiring, taking over with her siblings to make the Orchard prosper again is a way to give back energy and happiness she lost over the years with being with a man who was abusive in different ways. She is hoping that it will renew and revitalize herself. Just as she gets back in the swing of happenings at the Orchard, a handsome professor comes calling hoping to do research. Jonathan Gebhard is determined to make his book a success but he needs the cooperation of Amy and her family in order to get the research that he needs. Jonathan lost his fiancee to his best friend a year before, but feels an attraction to Amy that he wants to pursue but he knows that there is something that is holding Amy back. As Jonathan and Amy work together and discover a desire they want to explore, they will also have to come to terms with the past in order to have a future together…

Plot and Story Line

At Fairfield Orchard, we get a beginning start to a new series by one of my favorite authors. Emma Cane is quite brilliant and I did love seeing a new setting where we have a apple orchard farm. It had quite a bit of charm and I think the setting is what really intrigued me the most about the book. I just loved seeing the members of this family come together. I really liked Amy and her twin Tyler the most. Of course the other siblings we don’t hardly see, I am hoping we see plenty more of them as we see more books come out. Now what really got to me was the hero. I truly adored him and he was so cute in so many ways. Now he is a NERD—loves books and history but he is a sexy nerd. Now the romance doesn’t really develop until about halfway through the story and then things really heat up between these two. The story slowly builds up the attraction that these two have. It is slowly built and I liked to see a gradual attraction grow through the whole story. The heroine I wasn’t always a fan of, it wasn’t necessarily one specific reason, but I wasn’t a fan in how she treated the hero all the time. It wasn’t super mean or anything, she just tended to be so disconnected and now truly there not in the same way that he was. The only other issue I had with this one is I had a hard time being fully into the book. I have never had a problem with the author before, but my attention was so unfocused and couldn’t be fully engaged with the story. Its probably the major factor I would change about this one, is finding more engagement. But I did many aspects of the story and I am curious to see what happens next.

The Cover

JUST beautiful!!! I love the charm and beauty of the apple blossoms and the beautiful farm house in the middle!!

Overall View

At Fairfield Orchard is a sweet and charming romance of love and healing… a story to put a smile on your face and put dreams of running a orchard of your own!!

About The Author Updated

About Emma Cane

Emma Cane grew up reading and soon discovered that she liked to write passionate stories of teenagers in space. Her love of “passionate stories” has never gone away, although today she concentrates on the heartwarming characters of Valentine Valley, her fictional small town in the Colorado Rockies.

Now that her three children are grown, Emma loves spending time crocheting and singing (although not necessarily at the same time), and hiking and snowshoeing alongside her husband Jim and their rambunctious dog Uma.

Emma also writes USA Today bestselling historical romances under the name Gayle Callen.

Love when I find a book and fall in love with the hero that ususally not my type in books. Apple Orchards must be a new thing in 2016 for books. This is the second book that I found had this setting. Refreshing setting.

Nice! I’m a fan of her Valentine Valley series and can’t wait to dig in to this newest offering by Emma. Plus a cute geeky beta-type hero? Count me in! 😉

I’ve never read Emma Cane, but I have a book or two of hers. I should really make time to read them. I’m so glad you enjoyed this. I do love a nerdy hero! I think Nora Roberts does a good nerd hero, too. Sorry the heroine wasn’t your favorite, though.
