Immortal In Death is the third book in the In Death series and I am slowly but surely working my way through the series but BOY do I have a long way to go. I am definitely starting to see why so many romance readers are such a fan of this series because even though the romance takes a back seat at times to the primary plot line, the depths of emotion that is evoked between Roarke and Eve is splendid and captivating in every way and I am loving the journey that they are on. Immortal is quite an interesting one and I will be honest I was NOT expecting the tear jerking emotions that this book evoked in me. It actually quite shocked me the intimate revelations that we see unveil in this book.
Immortal In Death starts out with a illegal spy of sorts, that works both sides is murdered and was a confidant of Eve. And she is determined to be the head honcho of the case but then something else turns up and will really push her in ways she doesn’t quite expect. One of her closest friends and her boyfriend are the prime suspects of another murder, a famous model who got into the dangerous business of lethal addictive drugs. And now Eve will be forced to put her best friend through a murder investigation and have to appear neutral even though she is far from it. But through this investigation, she is faced with her past and a painful memory that will haunt her and only with Roarke at her side, will she reconcile and work her way through it.
Immortal In Death is a story that kept me up reading and I had such a blast delving into this one. It is continually to shock me how much these books are working for me. But most especially these special moments that we see build between Roarke and Eve. No more two opposites could be in love. Eve is reconciling with the fact that she will be married within the month, nothing she imagined would happen to her or the love that she would find with Roarke. And Eve will go through a really rough time as she faces up to a painful part of her past her sub-concious part of her brain hid from her because of the trauma of it but now that memory will resurface and will have to face up to it and deal with the emotions that will overload her. But Roarke…*sigh* he is so sturdy and reliable. I love how fiercely protective he is of her especially on a emotional and mental level. The depths of the romance is satisfying and packed with deep levels of intimacy I couldn’t seem to get enough.
Overall I found Immortal in Death to be a fantastic addition to the series, a build up of intimacy, compounding mysteries and writing to compel you to pick up the next one up…..
