By night, the winged warrior Antony Medichi fights the death vampires who threaten his world. By day, he hunts the rogue vampires who invade Mortal Earth. But deep in his heart rages the fiercest battle of all—his soul-searing passion for the one mortal he is sworn to protect…the one woman he is doomed to love.
Parisa Lovejoy is so beautiful, and so powerful, that Antony cannot fight the feelings she arouses. But his unexpected love only intensifies his strength as her Guardian—a strength that is put to the ultimate test when Parisa is abducted. Her captor, Commander Greaves, enslaves mortal women for their blood. If Parisa hopes to survive—and ascend—she must forge an even deeper bond with Antony…in the flames of eternity.
Wings of Fire is the third book in the Guardians of Ascension and man I am having such a BLAST with these books. I always love some yummy angel lovin’ but these angels aren’t your average and boy they are badass in so many forms. And it always shocks me in that these books aren’t more read than they are. And with each book we get hints to the next couple so it makes you want to read the next book so quickly. And I really love that this author does that with this series, it just has you eager for more and wanting to that pairings’ story and immediately.
Wings of Fire is a story that features Antony and Parisa. And in the beginning of the story, we know that they have a connection to each other. Parisa is a human ascended to angel and has been kidnapped by their enemies and been in their hands for three months. Antony is literally going insane at the thought of his mate in the hands of his enemy, not knowing if she is truly safe until they bond in such a way that stretches time and space and what we call “psychic voyerism” Parisa is surprise that she has been harmed…yet. She is practically kept in a golden cage, and to dress and look pretty, but no harm upon her. But toward one of her final days in captivity, a woman runs to her and claims she is also being held prisoner there. And after Parisa is rescued by Antony and the other guardians, she is determined to save Fiona and the other women being used as “blood slaves”. As Parisa and Antony connect with each other, they are also adapting to a relationship that will have its own unique elements and will have to overcome hidden reservations to embrace their true love for each other…
Wings of Fire is a unique story and I really enjoyed it for the most part. I struggled with these two so caught up on their “pasts” like lets just have hot sex and then we will move on because they couldn’t let go of past fears. It was a bit frustrating because the first half I was just loving the flow of their relationship and then they get caught up in their memories of past relationships and just didn’t want to really be together anymore? But yes lets continue to have sex like bunnies to get it out of our systems even though we are fated to be together and we know there is more to our bond than just sex. Eventually they figured things out, but it was so annoying to see them just put their relationship constantly on hold.
I did find myself loving these two even if they wanted me to shake some common sense into them at times. Parisa is a strong heroine, and I love how Antony is so protective but also equally supportive of her even though some elements scares him to pieces. But as Parisa grows within herself, she discovers what she is capable of, and Antony is able to discover his own strengths in time. I especially adored her friendships with the other women and stood up to the head lady of the group. And hidden or future relationship hinted at??!! Please let it be so.
Overall I found Wings of Fire to be a tender, kick ass romance that has you on edge of suspense alongside our pair, cheering them on in their adventures, thrills, and joys!
