UNEXPECTED AND UNDENIABLE...
Bailey Moore has an agenda: skiing in the Rockies, exploring castles in Europe, ballroom dancing in Argentina. Now that she has a second lease on life, she's determined not to miss a thing. What she doesn't realize is that item #1 comes with a six-foot-one ski god hot enough to melt a polar ice cap. She doesn't want to miss out on him either, but Hudson Kincaid isn't the type of guy to love and let go. And as gorgeous as Cedar Ridge is, she's not planning to stick around.
As head of ski patrol at his family's resort, Hud thinks he's seen it all. But never has he run into someone like Bailey. She might look delicate, but her attitude is all firecracker. And her infectious joy touches something deep within him that he's been missing far too long. Now he'll just have to convince Bailey to take a chance on her biggest adventure yet . . . something rare and all kinds of wonderful.
I have had this BOOK on my list for years and honestly, I have no idea why I waited so long for this one. I read book one. “Second Chance Summer” and truly adored it a handful of years ago so I am not sure why it took me so long but I finally was able to read or in this case, I was able to grab ahold of the audiobook through my local library. And first, off I want to mention this might be my favorite book from this author so far!! I know I know…crazy sauce, but it’s true.
In this book we have such a beautiful meet-cute that happens right off….our two main characters are Hudson and Bailey. Bailey has come to paint a mural for a family who owns and runs a mountain ski resort, while out doing some skiing she meets up with Hudson who saves her in the snow and when they run into each other there is a strong spark of attraction. But Hudson is against the mural painting but is outnumbered by members of his family. Hudson is the hard-working and responsible sibling, always taking charge and working to the brink of exhaustion. Our heroine has gone through her share of life struggles. She has battled cancer for close to ten years and now has a bucket list and wants to LIVE her life in a way she hasn’t since she was fifteen years old. What starts out as some angst tension between Hud and Bailey, turns into something strong and tender but Hudson will have to fight for his girl if he wants to keep her in his life and prove his sincerity.
This was such a charming story and I truly fell in love with just about every aspect of this story and boy this family. I just loved them all!! What I have come to truly admire about this author is how she balances out the characters. We see our hero and heroine equally and I truly loved that and need this more in romance. Its so rare to see a cancer survivor in romance and I felt like Shalvis really handled this element so well in our heroine. The romance that develops between our characters is so sweet at times, especially the kissing scenes….*swoon* passionate and tender which is my favorite mix. I can’t wait to finish the trilogy with “Nobody But You”
