Two worlds in conflictTwo hearts intertwinedOne love worth fighting for
Wealthy Englishwoman Lady Elizabeth Baylor longs for adventure. She leaves for America full of hope, only to lose everything to a villain hiding treachery behind his smile. Lost in this strange and lawless land, Elizabeth vows to track down the man who did her wrong...but she can't do it alone. What she needs is someone hardened by the west and unflinching toward its dangers: notorious bounty hunter Logan Best.
Ill-mannered and seemingly ruthless, Logan exorcises his dark past by throwing himself into his vengeful profession—hunting wanted men. There's nothing about the pampered Englishwoman that should call to him, and yet as their adventure takes them across the wild and treacherous west, he realizes he'll do anything to keep her safe...and defend his Lady to his final breath.
Logan’s Lady is a standalone western historical romance and I have a soft spot for Rosanne Bittner, her books are so richly portrayed and her love stories so emotionally driven and Logan’s Lady is no different. I was curious to see what would happen in this story. I was a bit heartbroken that Outlaw Hearts was over but as soon as I picked up this book I remembered why I fell in love with this author a few years back. She definitely knows how to write her western romances especially the bad boy gunslingers of the wild west. I will say that this couple isn’t together all the way through the story, since there are other plot lines that need to develop before they get together but once they get together sparks fly.
Our beloved story begins with our heroine, who is a lady of the Ton, she grew up with an overbearing brother. but she has dreams of her own, dreams of America and adventure. And when her other brother is kicked out of the house for having a kind heart but causing a scandal, she goes with him claiming their inheritence and heading to America to start fresh. But on her way to America, her brother dies and then she is finds herself without any funds because they were stolen from her by a man that she thought she trusted. But when in defense she ends up killing him, she is in trouble and is rescued from jail by a sexy gunslinger who is also a bounty hunter who is on the hunt for the same men who stole her money and jewels.
Without those funds, she has little hope of surviving in America. Logan is a bounty hunter, lives on the plains and hunts down the criminals. He is very famous for being good with his guns and not many men can match up to him. But when he sees this woman who is desperate but strong willed, he is captivated by her. But he knows how dangerous the west can be, but Elizabeth is determined to prove herself and show her inner strength. While on their journey in their hunt for the band of thieves and murderers, a love develops between two complete opposites, but sometimes passion and abiding love paves the way to a happy ever after that is unexpectedly found.
Logan’s Lady is a breathtaking romance that sweeps you up off your feet and I found this story to be so delectable. I definitely had a blast with this book here and couldn’t get enough of this adventure that Rosanne Bittner takes us on. I think the one downside to this story, is that it takes a while before our hero and heroine meet. Now the author, I understand why she wrote it this way. She is building up the characters, we see both the lives of the hero and the heroine as they slowly come together in the center of the story. I did appreciate how this was written, but I will admit I just wanted to skip to the middle to when they get together because I prefer seeing a couple together throughout the majority of the story. I will say that Rosanne Bittner did a fabulous job though in writing this book, because normally this type of style of writing would drive me crazy but I found this part of the story very informative and thrilling at times and a bit heartbreaking at times as we see what the hero has suffered in his past, and how much conflict the heroine has to rise above.
The romance that builds between these two is pretty close to instant love, within a week they are declaring their love together. But it definitely seems logical for this to happen, they help each other against the conflicts they have to face up to. I did like that these are both such strong willed characters. Elizabeth, she is a bit naive at times, but she makes up for it in courage and tenacity and always willing to try new things and rise above her sheltered upbringing. Logan is pretty badass, and boy I loved him so much especially in how protective he is. He doesn’t allow any woman or child to be hurt. We see his abilities throughout the first half, so you know that he is very capable in helping Elizabeth track down the thieves and con artists. At first there is quite a bit of angst between these two. Elizabeth and Logan do not like each other at first, but help each other but throughout their road trip adventure, we see that angst slowly soften. Logan is more resistant to the relationship than Elizabeth turns out to be because of his past, and their class difference and how opposite they are from each other. But both Logan and Elizabeth soon begin to realize that its the important things that they have in common.
Overall I found Logan’s Lady to be a thrilling adventure from the balls in London to the wild west that delivers a epic love tale of sensuality and courage! AWE INSPIRING
