Greg Cage was born to protect. While growing up, he was his mother and sister’s shield against the world… until he failed. For the last decade, he has carried that guilt and need for vengeance around… until it was stripped from him. Now, with his best friend getting married and no longer needing his protection, he is even more lost, completely adrift, and desperate for some control. All he has ever known was how to protect: his family, his friends, and his country. Can he go against everything he has ever known, and give up that control?

Melissa Larson will never let anyone hold the reins in her life. She has been the rock in her family for more years than she can remember, and the fight to keep them together is her main priority right now. She has always been fiercely independent and proud. The last thing she will ever do is ask for someone else’s help. But when that choice is out of her control, forcing her to rely on others to save her and her family, and pick up the pieces that are left, will she be able to let someone else be her strength?

The second Greg locks eyes with Meli, he knows that she is someone he needs. Someone he craves. Meli knew the second she met Greg that he would be nothing but trouble and heartache. Her life takes an unexpected turn, and that bitch Fate is back to wreak more havoc on another member of the Corps family.

All hell breaks loose, leaving Greg no choice but to call in a favor. He hooks back up with his old friend Braxxon Breaker from the Breakneck MC. Together, they make sure that nothing threatens anyone Greg loves again.

Cage is the second book in the Corps Security series and this is Greg’s story and I really loved this one especially with the low angst that we had in this book at least in the first half of the book which I really liked. I love this group of male friendship that we see develop here, and I loved seeing more of these fun characters.

Cage is close to his friends, and when his friend’s wife calls him for help, her wedding is coming up that weekend and she is a nervous wreck. Their little son is sick and requests that he takes him to the doctor for her and the nurse that sees to his son is gorgeous and he is stunned by Melissa and wants her and knows that she is friends with Axel and Izzy (who we see in book one). But both Cage and Melissa have much more in common than the sizzling sexual chemistry they feel for each other. Cage lost his sister when he was overseas from an abusive husband and when he learned that her husband remarried again he tried everything he could to save her but wasn’t able to find enough evidence against him before he killed his second wife. Melissa lost her sister to the same abusive husband, and now with her mother, raising her nephew while barely making ends meet with the low paying nursing job she has. Cage realizes their connection pretty quickly, but Melissa doesn’t trust men and he wants to do it at the right time but will keep the secret from Melissa cost him her forever?

This was such a wonderful book and I adored Cage and Melissa. I do think that Cage was a bit naive about women though. Before he meets Melissa, he has a casual relationship with a crazy woman “Mandy” and she is obsessed with him and he doesn’t see how crazy she turns out to be until she starts taking out her jealousy and obsessiveness with him on Melissa. I didn’t understand how someone who built a business or served in the military couldn’t see how crazy she was, but he pretty much was led by his dick until he meets Melissa who makes him really work for it and show that he is sincere in more than just sex with her. And I love that she sees him and Mandy for what is really happening and makes him see things that he isn’t openminded about.

Having her in my arms feels like coming home. I am not one to believe in all that love at first sight bullshit, but even as cynical as I am, I can recognize something bigger than lust at work

I found Cage to be an intriguing story and I loved seeing Cage and Melissa find their own way in their relationship. I did love seeing them fall in love and the funny moments with their adopted son and boy he was hilarious. I love seeing kids like this because he cracked me up especially when he caught them naked in bed, pretty fun and probably something most parents could relate to I am sure. There is some level of suspense though with Mandy’s craziness and yeah mentally she is not all there and the last part of the story is so riveting and deeply filled with raw emotion that I didn’t expect to feel but Harper Sloan really threw me for a loop in this story. But boy I had a BLAST with this audiobook and these narrators are fantastic and I always look forward to listening to them together since they do such a great job with this dual POV.

Cage is a romance that is stimulating and sensual and full of twists that are laugh out loud and keep you on the edge of your seat when you don’t expect it!! A FUN DIVERSION OF A READ!
