In the explosive finale to New York Times bestselling author Jeaniene Frost’s Night Prince series, Vlad is in danger of losing his bride to an enemy whose powers might prove greater than the Prince of Vampire’s….
In the wrong hands, love can be a deadly weapon.
For nearly six hundred years, Vlad Tepesh cared for nothing, so he had nothing to lose. His brutal reputation ensured that all but the most foolhardy stayed away. Now falling in love with Leila has put him at the mercy of his passions. And one adversary has found a devastating way to use Vlad’s new bride against him.
A powerful spell links Leila to the necromancer Mircea. If he suffers or dies, so does she. Magic is forbidden to vampires, so Vlad and Leila enlist an unlikely guide as they search for a way to break the spell. But an ancient enemy lies in wait, capable of turning Vlad and Leila’s closest friends against them…and finally tearing the lovers apart forever.

Into The Fire is the most recent release from this author and the final installment of our Vlad and Leila series. And you know this was a very bittersweet read for me. First off I want to take note of the narrator of this book. The first time I have listened to this narrator, and part of me wishes that I had all this series in audio because she showed Vlad and Leila so perfectly…I don’t think there is a narrator that could have done them justice like this gal did…so cheers Tavia Gilbert!! Even though I do love Cat and Bones, there is something about Vlad and Leila that just calls out to me more. I just have connected with this couple way more. And man this book packs quite a punch. I do know that there are quite a few mixed reviews on this book. However I freaking loved this book probably just as much as the other although there is a bit of a downside of what happens to one of our side characters. I won’t reveal what happens but seriously I think I just broke down in tears because I adored this character. The story sets off pretty quickly after the previous book. Mircea still has a strong physical connection to Leila and is using it against her. But the stakes are highly raised with Mircea is taken by other Necromancers and is using her to get Vlad to commit terrible acts against his closest friends. To say that Jeaniene Frost has really stepped up the emotion of the story is putting it mildly. Of course we get some fun characters added in the story including our favorite Ian. Now there were some things I loved and hated about Ian in this book. Now with Bones and Cat he is so fun. However there were moments in this book I didn’t like how Frost portrayed him. But then there were moments that really showed how much he acts his cavalier whorish personality is just the surface of hiding who he really is.

β€œI suppose I should’ve known there was more to you than the insipid whore you present yourself to be.”

Instead of being insulted, Ian smiled almost flirtatiously. “Oh, I am all the whore you can imagine and more, but I do have other talents. Few people see them, although you and your lovely wife are about to.”

And we get some fun moments with Mecheres too. And there were some surprising fun moments that pop in the story when you least expect. Like honestly, I just wanted to laugh at their antics and fun admidst all the drama and intensity of the plot. Now i will say that the actual romance parts of the story are few and in between but they do happen!! Just not as frequently as in the previous books but honestly it was more than enough for this romantic soul. I think that what made this story really powerful was seeing the way these two fight together and for each other. Their devotion and dedication to each other is heart breaking at times and at others so precious and poignant that there are no words.

“I wish you could feel me like I feel you,” I whispered, finally giving up because words would never be adequate to convey what he meant to me. “Then you’d know I would go through tonight all over again, a thousand times if I had to, if it meant being in your arms like this.”
The faintest smile curled his mouth and deeper, richer swaths of emotions began sliding through mine. “I don’t need to feel you to know it, Leila,” he murmured, leaning forward until his forehead touched mine. “Everyday, I see the truth of it in your eyes.”

We also learn more depth to their relationship than I thought I would see. I loved the surprises in Vlad and Leila as individuals, and we see how much more we learn about them. You would think after three books, we would know and not get shocked…but Frost reallyΒ  I do want to guarantee that there is a happy ending to Vlad and Leila’s story and I have a feeling we will see them down the road.Β  Overall a powerful addition to a action and sensually charged story of a couple that keeps fighting for the chance to be together. A FINALE NOT TO MISS OUT ON!!!

β€œFor better or for worse, it’s you and me together, just like in our vows.”

I felt the need to share these three songs, because for me they just shout out Vlad and Leila to me in different ways.

Ooh, a three-song book grand finale spectacular. πŸ™‚ I’m still on the book before it so I skimmed, but so glad to see your rating and that Ian and Mencheres play roles. I do love Vlad and Leila and admit to dragging my feet.

OK, I just did a really quick skim of your review, Renee, because I’m behind on this series. I have only read the first, or maybe the first two… I have no idea why I’m not up to date – I blame my pesky ‘request’ button on NetGalley. It’s the root of all evil πŸ˜€
I’m really happy you enjoyed this one!
