He never meant to hurt her.
Levi “Painter” Brooks was nothing before he joined the Reapers motorcycle club. The day he patched in, they became his brothers and his life. All they asked in return was a strong arm and unconditional loyalty—a loyalty that’s tested when he’s caught and sentenced to prison for a crime committed on their behalf.
Melanie Tucker may have had a rough start, but along the way she’s learned to fight for her future. She’s escaped from hell and started a new life, yet every night she dreams of a biker whose touch she can’t forget. It all started out so innocently—just a series of letters to a lonely man in prison. Friendly. Harmless. Safe.
Now Painter Brooks is coming home… and Melanie’s about to learn that there’s no room for innocence in the Reapers MC.

my-review-updatedSummary

Lev “Painter” Brooks had nothing until he had his brothers of the Reaper MC. It has become his life and he would sacrifice everything for his brothers. All they ask is to do his part and his loyalty which he has given totally. But there is one woman who is his weakness. Melanie Tucker. Melanie has felt an attraction to Painter ever since that one day he gave her a ride on his motorcycle and she lost everything. Melanie and Painter never seem to get anything right. Melanie writes letters to Painter while he was in prison, and when he gets out things are a bit rocky, but she and Painter realize they have more going on than just hot sex….they have a real chance for happiness. But there is a hurdle on that road to their happy ever ever, a mistake is made and Painter pays dearly. Now its been five years, and Melanie and Painter have to face up to real truths and the fact of how right they are for each other  and stop fighting what is worth fighting for….

Plot and Story Line

Reapers Fall is another fantastic installment of the Reaper’s MC and this wonderful world that Wylde has created for us. I love this author quite a bit, and the reason I admire her books is that even though they aren’t for everyone, they are tough and gritty and real. In Reapers Fall we get to see another aspect of the MC lifestyle. A life that is full of sacrifice. Painter, has dreamed of having a family and he has one with the Reapers and his brothers. He doesn’t feel he needs anything else. What was quite interesting about this book is it sets off with a intense scene. And yeah I think I cringed a bit with it. And then it sets us back to a couple years before. Where we see the way their relationship begins and develops and the circumstances that prove to test both of their limits. Now I didn’t love everything about this book. I really liked the way these two were in the beginning.

“I’d fallen in love with Melanie Tucker.
Not some little-boy, bullshit needy “love”… This was deep, almost painful in its unholy intensity. It was like she’d sent tendrils burrowing deep inside, binding us together so tightly I’d die if I ever tried to pull them out.
I was truly, deeply, and utterly fucked, because I fucking loved this girl…and she wasn’t for me.”

There is quite a few scenes that are very Steamy, and might burn you in the process. But I really liked how playful they could be with each other. They have fun together and even though there are some misconceptions, their relationship seems to be pretty strong. Now my biggest issue with this story is how Painter and Melanie treat each other when things go south. Especially on Melanie’s side of things. I felt that she tended to be too harsh in her judgement of Painter. But Especially toward the end, she really shows her true colors and I fell in love with her character again. Now Painter, is alpha and sure of himself and what he wants. He, along with many of the heroes of this series, does more than just work on his bike and do stuff for the MC. He is a painter, like an artist and very talented too. I liked that quite a bit, seeing a hero that has artistic abilities. You don’t see that everyday. And I have always liked him, even with the mistakes he made with Em, I love that he has pizazz but I also admired how devoted he was to Melanie.

“Never stopped thinking about her, though. Not once. She’d become my anchor.”

It was fun seeing some of my old favorite characters though. We get to some more kick ass drama that is expected from Joanna Wylde.

The Narration

Now these two did such a superb job together narrating this story. Their voices just fell into sync with the story line, and they really make the characters come to life. Both Saffron and Nelson created a world that is full of passion and grit and determination!!

The Cover

I love the casual stance on his bike….powerful yet confident!! And I like the BLUE…trust me it matches with certain details in the story, so I liked that they put those into display on the cover too.

Overall View

Reaper’s Fall is a vibrant and sexy romance that will make you want to grab on as tight as you can, because its going to give you one hell of a ride and more!!!

Yeah thats crazy. I don’t know any, since I have never lived around them so I don’t know what they are really like. I do know that there is a couple of authors that write this genre (not sure if its this author or not) that live in the actual culture here in the states. But yeah some of them are crazy from what I hear. But I like the books some of the authors write though and Wylde is my fav. But its not for everyone.

I’m okay with fictional MC stories but not so much in real life. (I had a bad experience as a kid with a local Club) I do have the first three books in this series and can’t wait to dig in after reading this review. I love a well-done gritty, realistic story. 🙂

Yeah fictional is good!! Sorry to hear you haven’t had good experiences. I haven’t had any so I don’t know what most MC are really like. If you like a tough gritty romance you would like this author. She got me hooked on the genre.

I do love this series, but I agree there are times I cringe, squirm, and even want to thump the characters. This pair were good for each other when they got things untangled. Glad the audio edition had good narrators.

It is a great series right? But it definitely has some cringe worthy moments. And some of these characters I just want to shake some common sense into them.
