Weekly Recap (Week 39) Its Officially Fall

by | Sep 25, 2022 | Sunday Post | 6 comments

Can you believe that we are coming toward the end of September already?? Its crazy sauce. I can’t believe that summer is done and we are now entering fall. Not that I am complaining for the Autumn season, it’s my favorite time of the year. Its been a solid week though, we have had some overcast weather and some rain and I am loving us having some cooler weather, I hate the HEAT haha this week has been a solid week though. Work was steady but nothing impressionable. I was able to get some strong reading in this week and read some fabulous books. I had a fun time interviewing Rosanne Bittner, she has been one of my favorite authors ever since I read “Do Not Forsake Me” and it also confirmed my suspicions around how publishing treats authors and why we are seeing authors separate from publishing. I really applaud her for standing up for what she writes, not too many authors do that anymore.

Bookish Posts and Books Read of Week September 11th through September 17 th

(All my books read and their reviews are on Goodreads, Storygraph and Literal Club)

Book Read-Wicked Aftermath by Melissa Foster—5 Stars–I absolutely adored this book so much. It was so emotional at times but I loved the sense of family and connection. Not many authors can balance out kids in a romance, but Melissa Foster, does this so flawlessly!

Book Read-Eros by Carly Spade-–4 Stars—This is the god of love’s story and basically Cupid. This has a more enemies to lovers trope. And it had such a fun entertaining twist. I was really happy with Ero’s story and I am loving how this author is writing this story and excited for Poseidon’s book which is next up.

Book read-A Contemporary Mythos St. Patricks—3.5 Stars—This was an adorable novella, and I loved the St. Patty’s theme. We rarely see non Christmas holidays so I had a fun time with it.

Audiobook Listened-Grim Shadows by Jenn Bennett–4 Stars–This was a unique one and very great for Autumn atmospheric vibes. I love the mix of it set in the 1920’s, with the magic and ghosts and spooks. I kind wish that I read these books in ebook so I could listen to some speakeasy jazz haha

Book Read-A Contemporary Mythos Valentine’s by Carly Spade—3.5 Stars—This was so FUN! I don’t think I have ever read a valentines day romance so I was all in for this one. It was set in Greece and so adorable. I loved seeing Eros and his girl celebrating the holiday, they are angels after all!!

Book Read-Anton by Sophie Lark–4 Stars–I was in the mood for a mafia romance and its been a while since I read one. This was a good one, not my favorite from this author ,it was way too short and rushed. But I adored the set up of this one.

Book Read-Feast of Sparks by Sierra Simone–5 Stars–This BOOK was amazing. I am so hooked on this series, its definitely different, and you need to be open minded for these books. But I am really loving this friendships between the 6 and also loving the menage relationship that is building. Sierra Simone knows how to write her trio’s. It did have a cliffhanger, but the type that I was more than okay with as I know there are two more books. featuring this group.

Audio Book Listened-Huckleberry Summer by Jennifer Beckstrand—3 Stars—This one I was super excited for and wanted to read more of this author. I just didn’t love the heroine, in fact, I almost wanted to DNF. She is one of those that is unwilling to take accountability for anything, just gave in to her father’s demands and didn’t stand up for what she wanted or for what was right. I really don’t like characters that put the blame on others instead of themselves. So even though I am excited for the next book, I really had to push through this one.

Book Read-Penmort Castle by Kristen Ashley-5 Stars—This is the best of the series so far and it had a classic KA feel to it. I loved the atmospheric vibes to this one. If you are looking for a great paranormal to read this Autumn season, then you NEED to read this book here. It has a killing ghost, haunted castle, and some witches and a strong gothic vibe. I mean what more do you need?

Current Reads

My Current Audiobook The Black Lily, I am okay with this one, I am not a fan of female assassins haha but its intriguing so I hope it gets better. I haven’t read a lighter romance in a while, so gonna grab up Dirty Charmer by Emma Chase. I am currently e reading Billion Dollar Cowboy by Carolyn Brown and having a fun time with this one. Carolyn Brown writes the best westerns. I need to get the last few books of my COYER challenge read, so gonna try to grab up the Kristen Proby;. I haven’t read her mafia books, but I hear they are light mafia and I am curious how these do in comparison to her other books.

Book Releases I am Excited For

The Duke Not Taken by Julia London

Duke Most Wicked by Lenora Bell

How the Wallflower Was Won by Lenora Bell

The Duke’s Rules for Engagement by Jennifer Haymore

My Weekly TBR

These are books that I have a rough TBR for, I normally don’t like a super strict TBR as I tend to be a mood reader, so I might get to these books but depending on my mood, I might not get to all of them. So for this week I have some fun books planned ahead here. My Next audiobook will be the Jennifer Snow, I haven’t read her and the cover has a great autumn vibe. I gotta have the next book in the Thornchapel series and its been a while since I have read a f/f romance. The Skye Warren I have had on my kindle for quite a long time and I have been meaning to try out this author. And then I need to balance out my reading with a suspense, so gonna pick up the Maya Banks.

Nice that you got some cooler weather and rain to kick off fall. I had a feeling that’s why several authors chose to finish a series book as an indie. Reminds me, I still need to read the latest Jake and Miranda book. I’ve had several books over the years when a heroine had me so miffed that I wanted to DNF and skip to the next book with a different heroine.

I like your idea of a loose TBR list.

    Have a good week, Renee!

I’m so happy Fall is here too! I love this time of year, but I can’t believe the year is already more than half over. I need to read Penmort Castle by Kristen Ashley. I think I have the series already. Just need to make time.
