Happenings of Week 33 of 2022
This week was such an interesting one here, we had our landlord put in some new flooring in, he wants it to look more “modern” well its nice until winter comes and then our feet will freeze off haha I at least got him to let us keep the bedroom carpets. My only issue is that he didn’t tell me this was happening this week and didn’t give me time to get work off so I had to deal with the noises while working. So not happy with him and glad this is my last year having to deal with him (he is way too involved and want to move to a place where the landlords leave you alone and let you live your life without having to answer their calls every week) I was able to get another coloring page done, and despite the news in the week that doesn’t surprise me at all (considering how the conspiracy podcasts I listen to have been right all along) I am trying to keep positive even knowing the outreach of our government is becoming more and more dangerous and only makes me want to get my gun license. But I have been escaping to books more lately this week and I also binged a new TV show. It’s the new Prime series with Chris Pratt (and I binged it in one day haha I just couldn’t stop watching it, it was so addictive….like 24 type of addictive) If you haven’t watched it and enjoy political thrillers (like what Tom Clancy writes) this is a show for you. I also like that it had some solid values in it and is the number 1 show on Prime right now and I love that Chris Pratt has stood by this show. It’s STUNNING. But also I had to rewatch the Gabriel movies as Passionflix released this weekend the final part of Gabriel’s Rapture. It was amazing. My only issue with Passionflix is how long that they have taken to do these movies. I think it might be budget reasons though as they are having to travel to Italy so that might be a factor, or maybe its COVID restrictions, or a mix of both. So my reading has suffered a bit this week, but planning on going strong this week.
Bookish Posts & Books Read of Week August 7th through August 13th
(All my books read and their reviews are on Goodreads)
Book Read-Dark Whisper by Christine Feehan—I had such a fun time with this one, not a five-star read, but made a solid 4 star read. The heroine was annoying at times and while I enjoyed the suspense and world-building arch’s in the book I feel like the romance suffered a bit which sometimes happens in her books.
Book Read-Chosen by a Sinner by Michelle Heard—this book was so wonderful! I had a blast with this one. And it’s a get drunk and find yourself married in Vegas, but is also a mafia romance where we have unrequited love. Both the hero and heroine have denied their feelings for each other until their families insist they stay married and they are forced to be honest with each other and it’s a story that will keep you on edge.
Audio Book Listened-Beauty and the Baller by Ilsa Madden Mills-This book was stunning. I am seeing why so many people have loved this one here. It was so fun. I haven’t read too many of this author’s books but she does good with the lighter stuff. And it had some star wars fandom and I loved it haha
Book reread-If I Had You by Lynn Kurland—For some reason, I was in the mood for a reread of this one here. I absolutely adored it here. It was so fun to get back to Robin and Ann and I just loved all the courting drama haha

Current Reads
My current Audiobook is Wild Sweet Love by the queen Bev Jenkins. I absolutely am adoring this book so much, the romance is so sassy and fun. I have been wanting to get through her backlist though and most especially her historical’s. And the narrator is one of my favorites to listen to. My current ebooks are the rest, I just started the Emma Hart but its a fun one. I have heard good things about this Rina Kent. I have only read two of her books and even though I wasn’t super impressed, I want to try more of her work to see if she can work for me. And then I finally received the Lexi Blake, waited like 6 weeks from my library for it so I need to read it. If I can not have to buy books I will do it.
Book Releases I Am Excited For
The Time for Love by Stephanie Laurens
the Reckless Union by Monica Murphey
Carnal by Maggie Cole
Kiss the Girl by Samantha Chase
My Weekly TBR
These are books that I have a rough TBR for! I am not sure if I will be in the mood for them all, but they all are different sub-genres so I do hope to get to them all if my mood works with me on this! I do think it’s good to have a loose TBR even though at times I tend to be a mood reader! I am trying to work towards going half and half so I have more balance in my reading! I haven’t read a PC Cast in a long time and I have been meaning to get back to this series. I need to get Ruby Fever read, as I have the ARC and the publishing date is coming up soon and my next audio will be the Linda Broday, I have a few of her books I haven’t read yet and I always love a good mail order bride romance.
Favorite Book of the Week
New Additions to A&R
Moon Called by Patricia Briggs
Dungeon Royal by Lexi Blake
You Can Hide by Rebecca Zanetti
I like bare floors because I am lazy and they are easier to clean, but I would worry about noise living in an apartment. Sounds frustrating that the landlord set up stuff like that without consulting you. I like listening to Emma Hart books. They are so much fun and perfect for me as audiobook.
If my manager had done that I would have been really mad. Here we have to specifically ask for anything new like flooring or carpets. They don’t just come in and give them to you.
Your comments about your landlord made me laugh! I used to have one of those 🙂
I’m glad you’re not allowing too much to get you down and are finding ways to alleviate stress.
I’ve got that Chris Pratt series on my list and it will definitely be getting watched.
Good luck with all of your reads and I look forward to your reviews! xo
I guess I got lucky with the two landlords I had. One was totally standoffish and let the place fall apart, but the other was the right balance of hands off and taking care of preventive issues. I saw that Chris Pratt show advertised and wondered if it was good. I need to get to Bev Jenkins backlist, too.
Have a good week, Renee!
I thought landlords had to give a certain amount of notice before entering the premise/having work done? That would be frustrating. We don’t have a lot of carpet and I prefer it that way. It’s better for allergies and cleaning.
Yikes, that’s annoying about the landlord. Not letting you know about the flooring thing in advance is no good. Sounds like he’s not a great landlord anyway what with being overly involved. Ick. Our bedrooms have carpet and the rest of the house is tiled. It looks nice but it’s so hard. I can’t walk around barefooted because the tile is so hard.
And now I wonder what your conspiracy podcast is writing!
New floors is awesome but I wouldn’t be a fan of a landlord constantly checking in. I am reading Ruby Fever right now and am loving it.
