Happenings of Week 27 of 2022

This week has been so busy and has just flown by so quickly. I really loved how this week was. Work has been a bit busier than normal so been keeping busy with that. And had some fun events and and I know that this is a holiday weekend (if you live in the states). I did manage to get quite a bit of books read though as I was wanting to finish the month of June Strong and start of July with quite a bit of many reads. The weather was super hot this week though so been taking early morning walks as its too hot to do them in the afternoon. But this weekend was quite fun though. I had family come down from Canada, which was really fun to see them. My brother got married (just civilly, he will do a religious ceremony and reception in the fall, so this was just a small gathering of family but still fun) Lots of fun, and then I finished off the weekend by reading all day Saturday. I literally just read all day in one sitting (four books haha—do not ask me how I did it I just binged)

Bookish Posts & Books Read of Week June 26 through July 2

Beast by Jenika Snow—I wish I could say that I loved this because it had so much potential, but I actually didn’t care for it too much. It’s just smut, literally. It’s super short, and even though the retelling aspects were brilliant I wanted so much more in this story and felt disappointed.

Rating: 2.5 out of 5.

Book Read-Apollo by Carly Spade—This book was so so FUN~ It had a mix of a hero who is a rock star (and the demi-god Apollo) and the heroine is a ballerina dancer. At first, they don’t like each other but then quickly become charmed by each other. I adore how this was done, but it is closed-door pertaining to the steam level (but you wouldn’t know that from the covers haha)

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

Book Read-Star of the Morning by Lynn Kurland ( I absolutely adored this book, there was a lot of world-building and just the beginnings of a romance. But I am so intrigued by this fantasy series by Kurland and the ending just has me itching to grab up book 2.

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Book Read-Running Wild by KA Tucker—Book Review coming out soon on the blog ( I will say that I really enjoyed this one, not quite as much as Simple Wild, but just a solid novel)

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Book Read-Cowboy Wolf Trouble by Kait Ballenger-This was a quicky read and I liked it—very quick read but there were elements to the writing style that I struggled with but I am intrigued by the world building

Rating: 3.5 out of 5.

Book Read-Tempt Me by K.A. Tucker-This is the first of the “Wolf Hotel” series and I LOVED it. My goodness, I had no idea K.A. Tucker could write such a edgy sensual contemporary and I was addicted (considering I read all four books in one day haha) But in this book we get another Alaska setting(yay!!! seriously this author is making me want to live there, where is a rugged YETI for me to marry haha) but I really loved the dynamic. The hero is a CEO, starting to take over his father’s company, and is building a grand hotel in Alaska, and he and Abbi meet when she is drunk and he carries her home and she gets all cozy and sweet with him and even though he knows he can’t be with her as she works for him, he can’t resist her and man I loved this dynamic) –This might not be for everyone but I felt like K.A. Tucker handled it really well.

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Book Read-Break Me by K.A. Tucker—I will be honest this is my least favorite book of the series as there is some cheating and while there are reasons for it due to a misunderstanding, I was highly disappointed as the character that does it, highly disappointed me in the action of it. ( those who have read this series know why I feel this way I am sure)

Rating: 3.5 out of 5.

Book Read-Teach Me by K.A. Tucker—This is where we get to see Wolf and Abbi build on their relationship and seeing how family and careers are challenging their relationship but also strengthens it and super SPICY!!

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Book Read-Surrender To Me by K.A. Tucker—this is where some mysteries unfold and get to see some happy couple page time that I really loved seeing and a return to Alaska!!

Rating: 5 out of 5.

How to Read More Books-Tips and Tricks

Current Reads

I absolutely am so excited about my current reads here! I am listening to Harmony of Fire, I heard that the first half had lots of world-building and would feel slow to some readers so I decided to grab up the audio, and really intriguing. From what I can tell its an Urban Fantasy Romance (it doesn’t feel quite paranormal but more fantastical and has an urban setting). Then I am going to be reading the duo series of Royals by Ella Fields. I haven’t read this author yet but I have heard some amazing things about this series. I do love a good fantasy romance and I mean the covers are gorgeous. I received Into the Blue by the library but its due this week (as I kept forgetting I had this one) so I am going to pick this one up soon probably tonight or early tomorrow.

I love that your sister-in-law wore a shorter dress as her wedding dress. If you’re not getting married in the temple yet, then that’s the way to do it especially in this heat! Congrats to your brother and bride! Congrats on finishing June strong with reading lots of books. I feel like I did too since I didn’t read much in June due to stress and other things.

Yes I am glad she did a short one too. She sewd it herself even. And yeah it was 95 degrees so super hot. And yeah they wanted to wait I think mostly because I a sister that is inactive and wanted her involved in it as they are super close. But they have been dating two years so i think they were just ready to do it lol but I really love my sister in law, she is great for my brother. Very excited to see them get sealed. As long as you were able to read some books is all that matters right? Hope you had a great month in June!

Congratulations to your brother and new sister in law! It is nice that your family from Canada was able to attend. I don’t think that there is any way that I could read 4 books in a day. I just don’t read fast enough. I hope that you have a wonderful week!

Thank you Carole! And yes it was so fun to have family from Canada come down just in time. I don’t read that many books in a day very often normally only when the books are fast reads and I read all day lol

So glad to hear you enjoyed your brother’s wedding, visiting with family you haven’t seen for a while. I loved Simple Wild! I still need to read the rest of the series. Never hear of that Tucker series. Sounds like a fun time binging. ๐Ÿ™‚

Into the Blue is well worth the read if you can fit it in before it goes back or rerequest it.
