Happenings of Week 26 of 2022
This week has been wild! That is all I can say about it and the stress of seeing all the hate on BOTH sides is getting to my blood pressure so I need a break from it and just going to immerse myself in books and stay off social media for the most part and even bookstagram is crammed with it all (and that is my normal safe place). I am not going to say anything about it except for this: Lets all remember no matter our views on the decision or even abortion itself, to still be kind and gracious to each other. Don’t let them win and fester hate and resentment, it only affects you. Lets continue being supportive to each other no matter our beliefs on policy. (if you want to know my views check out my twitter, its the only place I am honest about my political views as I don’t like to be political in the booking community)
So this week my reading was really good and I am really excited to plan for COYER!! This is my FIRST time participating and I don’t know why it has taken me so long to be a part of it. I do wish I had started it years ago but like they say it’s never too late to try. I had to debate on which season to try out first but I felt like Summer was the most flexible. I will be writing my post for it today and so excited to share all my plans for it. My reading level hasn’t been quite as much as normal (this week at work has been so busy). And this upcoming weekend my brother is getting married, so I am so happy for them and it’s going to be a small celebration, but many of our relatives in Canada will be coming down for it, ironically, the bans on the border have been lifted (and I don’t believe in coincidences) so many of them will be able to come down for it.
Now lastly I wanted to share that there will be a slight change to the site, I have been read much more than normal and so its been stressful trying to keep up on all the reviews. So in the past, I have always written a review on the blog for every book that I read. But it’s becoming too much I think, so I will be doing a review a day and the rest of them will be on the rest of the bookish platforms such as (Goodreads, Storygraph, and Literal). This was a hard decision as I am changing the way I have always done things on here. But on this post, I will still share the Goodreads link so you can check those reviews out if you like :).

My current audio is the fantasy by Lynn Kurland. I have had this series on my TBR for years and I have been meaning to get to this series and curious to see how this author will write fantasy. My current eBook is a Meghan Quinn, I have been wanting to explore her books more. And then I will be trying a Jenika Snow book, I have been seeing it all over bookstagram so really excited for it. And I put off the Carly Spade but I am more in the mood for it right now, so excited for delving more into this series.

I’m with you. People should channel that rage into a campaign and have the laws changed. Just saying. I don’t feature reviews for every book I read. I found a magic number of full reviews I can write in a week and keep my balance. I jot down thoughts on GR, and I feature those non-reviewed books in other ways. I like to spotlight the ones I really liked. It would be hard to keep writing reviews given your volume of reading.
Yep! I mean this is why it was overturned, to turn the decision over to the people and if you want change then take it to your local representatives for that change. You can still be proactive in change without hate or violence. Yeah for years I have reviewed every book I have read but I just can’t keep up with my level of reading any longer and want more time to read ya know. I feel like it will be better this way.
I didn’t realize you were a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I am as well. I also live in Provo (for another six days, then somewhere else in Utah County once we figure out where). I have a few different beliefs and opinions than you do, but I agree with the sentiment of “no matter our views on the decision or even abortion itself, to still be kind and gracious to each other.” I think as long as we can have civilized conversations, even if our opinions and beliefs differ, then we’re heading in the right place.
Yes, its so nice to meet another blogger that is LDS as well!!! I hope the move goes smoothly for you. I do love Utah County just living so close to the mountains. I think its good to have differing opinions, I just wish the community was more open to ppl having both sides of opinions. But kindness wins and we need more of it in this world. Thank you for stopping by!
Yes, I totally agree with your first paragraph. Hugs to you!
Though I am not a big romance reader, I was very impressed with your site! The photos you take are so beautiful and certainly set the tone for your genre!
Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and heart!
Have fun with COYER! I used to do it but haven’t lately, but always had a blast. 🙂
I have been giving a lot of thought to changing how I review books. I review everything that I read but I know that I really don’t have to. My reading pace keeps up with a post every day so I may not make any changes but if I read faster, I would have to. Have fun at the wedding!
i hope you have a great week!
Appreciate your reminder to be gracious. I agree that trying to post a review for each book read is a strain and sounds like you’ve hit upon a good solution. I’d try to do a set of mini reviews, but I’m lousy at compressing my thoughts that much. Enjoy your brother’s wedding and have a good week, Renee!
I used to do COYER but I was never successful. Its like the MOMENT I create a plan, I instantly want to read NONE of those books. Its a problem. And there are certainly books I read and just don’t blog about. I made that change a while back. I used to have a post a day. Now its more like 2 posts a week. Sometimes, it is just freebie Friday and Sunday post!
Thank you for the reminder about positivity. I also agree with your not pushing yourself to review and post every day which can become so stressful and another “job”.
Hope you have fun with COYER! Escaping into books and reading is always a good idea. How exciting about your brother’s wedding. Glad the extended family is able to come for it.
Oooh a wedding is so exciting!!! And I don’t review every book either!
Yes, it’s important to be kind to one another no matter our beliefs! I loved Tragic! So happy to see you did too. Yes, I can’t do more than one review a day on the blog and even that is a bit much for me. I don’t post every day. I just don’t have the time.
Hope you have fun at your brother’s wedding! 🙂
