These Mermen Don’t Have Tails, They’re Deadly as Hell, and They’ve Got Something He Wants…

INFAMOUS BACHELOR and SELF-MADE BILLIONAIRE ROEN DORAN IS A BASTARD. Yes, he knows it. And no, he doesn’t care. He’s got money and power, and he depends on no one. But when his estranged father dies, willing him a secret island, Roen will come face to face with an even bigger secret: its occupants. And these savage, sea-obsessed warriors are quick to make their position clear: Leave now or die.

There’s only one problem. Nobody tells Roen what to do. Ever. Oh, and one other thing. He’s just met the island’s other new “guest” and something about her brings out his possessive side.

SOLE SHIPWRECK SURVIVOR LIV STRATTON had been adrift at sea for ten grueling days when salvation miraculously appeared: an uncharted island. Only, the deceivingly beautiful men who live there aren’t interested in saving her. No, not at all. Because they somehow believe she is their property, a gift from the ocean to do with as they please. This is not good.

Her only hope? Billionaire Roen Doran, of all people. A man who’s said to care for nothing and no one. But if he’s so heartless, then why is he about to risk everything to help her?

This series is a three part trilogy, and yes two of the books have cliffhangers….but I do want to reassure you that the third one has its HEA so I was thrilled about that. I honestly have had the first book on my kindle for a couple of years now, ever since it first was published and I can’t believe I didn’t pick this one up sooner. This author never ceases to amaze me and boy she shocked me with this trilogy because I wasn’t expecting anything like this Mermen Trilogy. And with normal Pamfiloff style, she delivers a whopper of a story that will leave you with shocks, delights, surprises, quite a few twists and turns and a power packed romance.

The story begins with our heroine, who finds herself on a lifeboat, where while doing a surveying mission for her research, the ship she was traveling on, was hit hard by a storm, and she was the only survivor. She lands on an island, with dangerous creatures underneath the ocean, and dangerous and deadly but gorgeous men that apparently want her and not for any good reasons. She becomes a prisoner on the island, and while attempting an escape, she runs into a man she never expects…Roen Doran. Roen is a multi billionaire, who built his empire all on his own. While out hunting for his missing cargo, he wrecks on a mysterious island and where he runs into a young woman, that he can’t resist helping out. A woman he soon falls hard for, but he soon learns of the real reason he was brought to this island. The island wants him to be the leader, and she won’t take “no” for an answer.

This first book begins a beginning of our heroine and her journey and her fight to hold onto the man she loves Roen. Liv, is strong and intelligent, and at first she doesn’t believe in these crazy yet powerful “mermen” who don’t have fish tails, but have supernatural abilities that aren’t normal. Both Roen and Liv have a strong connection from the beginning of the story, but don’t know how to act upon what they are feeling especially with the danger of the “island”. The story does focus on their fight against the dangers of the island and leaves the reader with a bittersweet cliffhanger and what a CLIFFHANGER. Now I am so NOT a fan of these cliffhangers, and I bought the second book right away (thankfully these books are less than $1 each, so I was more than fine with that).

Becoming leader of this place had been his calling, but Liv had been his destiny

I had a blast of a time with learning some history about the island, these crazy mermen, the “maids” of the sea and the sizzling chemistry that builds between Roen and Liv and this book will leave you wanting them to find their happy ever after and find out more about the island and the mystery and dangers that lie ahead.

From New York Times Bestseller Mimi Jean Pamfiloff, Book #2 of the Mermen Trilogy

He never wanted this. He only wanted her.

EVERYTHING ABOUT THE ISLAND OF EL CORAZÓN IS WRONG. The men are ruthless warriors who call themselves mermen but don't have any fish parts, the island isn't exactly an island, and the women...well, let's just say their story isn't pretty. More like a nightmare. Which is exactly why billionaire Roen Doran will do anything to protect the woman he can't live without from that violent place. Including becoming the island's leader and giving her up forever.

WHEN LIV STRATTON ESCAPED THAT TERRIFYING ISLAND in the North Pacific after being shipwrecked, she didn't just leave behind the horror, she left behind Roen Doran. A man she didn't know, but who risked everything to save her. And now her heart can't seem to move on. So part of her wonders if it's somehow her fault she's been taken against her will and locked inside a ship bound for El Corazón. But an even bigger part wonders if Roen will lift a finger to save her this time. After all, now he's one of them...

In our second installment, we have a thrilling beginning. Our heroine, Liv, has returned to the real world but still is haunted by her memories and feelings for the one man she could never forget, her man is trapped on a dangerous island and there is nothing that Liv can do to save him. But when she accidentally breaks a promise and reveals a hint of the island without meaning to, she is taken prisoner and brought back to the island. Liv knows the dangers, but when her sister is also been taken captive. Liv isn’t effected by the island, but all the women brought to the island including her sister, are held in a spell of sorts that makes them addicted to the mermen. Roen is furious that all his hard work to protect Liv has been a waste since she is now in more danger than ever before. He was never able to give every part of himself to the island as “it” demanded, and the island is furious with him. Liv and Roen will need to join forces again, to connect again to fight a great enemy, to not only save themselves but the mermen and their mates who have been cursed to live a life under the sea as terrors.

What an action packed story and it definitely made me even more intrigued by the development of this story. In the first book, the “island” didn’t necessarily have the feeling of evil or wrongdoing, just very possessive. But in this installment, we see the beginning of how everything is not right with the “island” and what she expects from her followers. How she is truly evil and manipulative and controlling. The reader definitely sees how wrong she is in many ways and how much pain and suffering she causes. We see Liv’s journey continue, trying to save the life of both the man she loves and her sister. There are secrets, deception, and intrigue that come into play with this book. We see more depth of the story though and a bit more history of the island, but not enough to fully satisfy. This book only made me even more curious about book three. Events escalate in this book, and certain characters become true villains that we didn’t quite see in the first book. There is such never ending development of the plot line. As the story continues, I only wanted and craved more. The writing that this author display is spectacular, and she just drew me in even more with this action and thrilling packed story. She brings together so many unique elements. There is another cliffhanger, in this one, so be prepared to grab book three.

We fight. We love. And we die. But we are never allowed to live.

From New York Times Bestseller Mimi Jean Pamfiloff, Book 3 of the Mermen Trilogy

ONE GIRL. ONE EVIL ISLAND. AND A FIGHT TO THE LAST BREATH.Liv Stratton has had enough of evil mermen and the psychotic living island they call home. She's been kidnapped, caged, attacked by sea creatures, and nearly drowned. A nice small-town girl can only take so much.

But after beating the impossible odds, Liv is finally safe at home in Alaska, only to realize that everything she holds dearest in this world is still back on that crazy island. Possibly dead. And if she wants to know what has become of the man she loves and her sister, she'll have to return and confront the one thing she's been trying to get away from: the island herself.

Only this time, Liv isn't the same frightened human she once was. This time, they've messed with the wrong girl.

We have come to our final installment and I can just say what an ending to a fabulous journey that Roen and Liv have undergone here. And it packs a crazy and sizzling punch that will leave you breathless for days!!

It starts off with our heroine deciding that she has had enough of this crazy island business and that she is going to go bring that island down and the evil that comes with it, and not only save her man but all the others who have been used and manipulated. We see so much strength and courage in our heroine here. Way more than the first books, she becomes a kick ass heroine in this book. We have some revealing truths about the island…the real story behind the evil “creature” of the island, and the true destiny of the mermen and their women. We also get the truth about the mermaids, and quite honestly…their story is so heartbreaking. But Liv, is not a woman that is okay with being a punching bag, or letting the man she loves being constantly punished by this crazy and manipulative evil creature. We see Liv and Roen fight together to bring her down and all the twists and turns (AND I can tell you there is one crazy twist) that kept me captivated, I just couldn’t put this down. We see the true depth of courage and integrity that Liv has here. What she is willing to sacrifice for everyone including her man. We also see the truth destiny of the island and all those that dwell above and beneath the sea surrounding it. We have a story that shows the true test of good conquering evil….of a power that is corrupt and seeing those fight against it and find the life they deserve to have. It’s a very bitter sweet story that has some real life lessons here. You find yourself rooting for these characters that come dear to your heart.

Liv had not only seen what was in his heart, she’d fought for his life the first day they’d met. Her braveness humbled him. Liv was special and she was strong. And like her, he would not go down without a fight.

This final installment is a crazy, intense, wild ride of sacrifice and the test of strength of true love against all odds against them.

Neat! I’d not heard of this series before. So it is a continuous series, not a companion series? I usually don’t like the idea of those in adult romance – companion series are so great. BUT. It’s great when the series is already complete and published so I don’t feel like I have to wait and wait and wait. 😀 Those eyes! Great cover model choice there. 😉 I’m glad you enjoyed this series, Renee!

    Have a lovely week. =)

This author has been on my radar for a while, but I’ve yet to give her a try. This trilogy sounds like a lot of fun. I haven’t read many mermaid/mermen stories. Good to know that the trilogy really needs to be read together and that it takes until the last book to get the HEA. Great review.
