I no longer believed in the idea of soul mates, or love at first sight. But I was beginning to believe that a very few times in your life, if you were lucky, you might meet someone who was exactly right for you. Not because he was perfect, or because you were, but because your combined flaws were arranged in a way that allowed two separate beings to hinge together.
“What is a friend if not someone you feel close to, someone you like being with, someone you can confide in and share pleasure with.
“Friends and family argue and fight, but it means nothing. It’s human nature. Love isn’t perfectly patient or kind or sunny. Love is volatile and tempestuous and forgiving.”
My beloved is the sun
And I am the earth that thrives only in her warmth. My beloved is the rain
And I am the grass that thirsts for her quenching kiss. My beloved is the wind
And I am the wings that soar when she fills me with her gentle strength.
My beloved is the rock
Upon which rests the happiness of all my days.
And he stood so closely behind her that she felt his breath feather her neck. Blanche leaped away, putting a polite distance between them, her heart suddenly thundering in her chest. His body hadn’t touched hers, but it might as well have, for she had felt his heat.”
“You’re a terrible cook. That I’ll grant you. You can’t hold your liquor, either. And you have questionable taste in men. So no, you’re not perfect.” His voice sank to a husky whisper, and his gaze dropped to her mouth. “But you’re close. Close enough to restore a man’s faith in miracles.”
When I was a boy, I went to war searching for glory. I didn’t find it.
I came here, thinking I’d find glory if I built a ranching empire or a thriving town.
Instead I discovered that I didn’t even know what glory was, not until you smiled at me for the first time with no fear in your eyes…
A hundred years from now, everything I’ve worked so hard to build will be nothing more than dust blowing in the wind, but if I can spend my life loving you, I’ll die a wealthy man, a contented man.
“Lord help her, she didn’t care where
Byrne took her. Let hellfire consume her and the devil steal her soul. Because any hell with Byrne in it
was better than a heaven without him.”
He wouldn’t give up on her. He was prepared to do anything, fight any battle. No matter if the act was forbidden or not, if he could get her back, he would humble himself, put himself in any kind of jeopardy or fight any battle to save her
“I dare because I want no misunderstanding between us. I am everything you think I am, but I love your daughter, and what I love, I protect with all of the violence in me, which, as you’ve guessed, is considerable.”
Even without having read the whole book, these quotes validate why I read romance. I loved the feelings these quotes elicited. Nice picks, Renee!
Ooo that Tessa Dare quote is totally romantic. I still haven’t read that novella. I really should!
Oh, I really like the first two!
I always forget out romantic Dallas Leigh could be in Texas Glory. A very underrated romance, IMO. I love the Beauty and the Blacksmith quote…very cute.
The last two are my favorites.
Love the Twice Tempted quote! Awesome series. I also enjoyed Alyssa Day’s Atlantis series, so another awesome choice.
