This meme was once hosted at Buried Under Romance and Love Saves The World, and hasn’t been active for a while now. So I decided since I have a fierce love for historical romance, to start it up again. Anyone is welcome to join in if you like because I would love to see your pick of the week for a throwback historical romance that you loved!!
What is Throwback Thursday?
Traditionally, Throwback Thursday celebrates nostalgia, asking participants to post a personal photo or an image from their past — usually from 5 to 10 years ago. There are a lot of book blogs that also do a book-related Throwback Thursday.
The Historical Romance Edition:
Since Tin from Love Saves The World, Mary from Buried Under Romance, are fans of historical romance, this is a way to honor our favorite genre.
Here are our rules:
1. It must be posted on a Thursday.
2. It must be a historical romance novel published before October 3, 2008.
Jennet Graeme has witnessed terrible tragedy during the many years of strife between the Scots and the English. As Scottish invaders plunder her convent sanctuary, she defiantly resists the blond warrior who claims her as his prize. But his brute strength is overpowering, and Jennet is forced to ride with him through the lawless lands, tending to the wounded, protected and desired by a man she wants to hate but cannot. Sir Hacon Gillard is moved by Jennet’s compassion and mercy. As a loyal knight, he’s pledged fealty to his king’s command even as he loses his heart to this remarkable woman. He is merciless in combat, but within him burns a spark for something far beyond the heat of battle . . .Contains mature themes.
Why Conqueror’s Kiss?
This is one of the best highlander romances I have ever read…I just love everything about this book. It might not be for everyone, especially when it comes to captive style romances. But its not your typical kidnapping story. I was really drawn to this romance, because I love the growth of the characters. The hero is a military man, a warrior, an alpha male and in charge of an army. The heroine although spirited, is compassionate and gentle. I like how she shows the hero a different way and there are so many tender and poignant moments between the two.
Oh I heard about this author but haven’t tried her yet
I’m not always for the kidnapping plot either, but it sounds lke it’s very well-handled in this book. I’m very curious now!
I recently read a Hannah Howell book, but it wasn’t for me. I do like this cover a lot though.
😀 Haven’t tried her before!!
This sounds good! I will check it out for sure!
Quick clarification question. He hits a convent, but he’s a highlander, right? I thought the Scots were supporters of a Catholic on the throne so why would he be invading a convent? I would think they would be supportive of a convent. Is there more to it than the blurb says? Sorry… it just struck me as curious.
LOL, but the storyline does sound exciting. I have one or two of her older books on my shelf that I still need to read.
I haven’t read too many highlander books. You always have interesting books to spotlight!

Alpha Male Highlander is my kind of read.
