Throwback Thursday: Historical Romance Edition:

by | Jan 4, 2018 | Throwback Thursday | 14 comments

This meme was once hosted at Buried Under Romance and Love Saves The World, and hasn’t been active for a while now. So I decided since I have a fierce love for historical romance, to start it up again. Anyone is welcome to join in if you like because I would love to see your pick of the week for a throwback historical romance that you loved!!

What is Throwback Thursday?
Traditionally, Throwback Thursday celebrates nostalgia, asking participants to post a personal photo or an image from their past — usually from 5 to 10 years ago. There are a lot of book blogs that also do a book-related Throwback Thursday.

The Historical Romance Edition:
Since Tin from Love Saves The World, Mary from Buried Under Romance, are fans of historical romance, this is a way to honor our favorite genre.

Here are our rules:
1. It must be posted on a Thursday.
2. It must be a historical romance novel published before October 3, 2008.

From New York Times bestselling author Iris Johansen comes a thrilling tale of abduction, seduction, and surrender that sweeps from the shimmering halls of Regency England to the decadent haunts of a notorious rogue.

SHE IS A HOSTAGE TORN BETWEEN PASSION AND LOYALTY

Marianna Sanders realizes she cannot trust this dark and savagely seductive stranger who has come to spirit her away across the sea. She possesses a secret that can topple an empire, a secret that Jordan Draken, the duke of Cambaron, is determined to wrest from her. In the eyes of the world the arrogant duke is her guardian, but they both know she is to be a prisoner in his sinister plot—and a slave to his exquisite pleasure.

HE IS THE FABULOUS RAKE THEY CALL THE DUKE OF DIAMONDS

For years, brilliant, deadly Jordan Draken has schemed to destroy the emperor who threatens everything he values most in the world. Now that he holds this defiant woman who is the key to his final triumph, he feels a fierce sense of satisfaction . . . and the first stirring of desire. She was only supposed to be a pawn in his plans, but once alone with his captive, Jordan realizes she is a prize he could never surrender.

I read a number of Iris Johansen years and years ago. But I think I read more of her suspense novels. I’ve never read any of her historicals.

She does have some great suspense novels. And you would like some of her other regular contemporary romances too. But her historical’s were the first books that I read from her and have always loved her work.

Awesome that you remember Throwback Thursday. I just loved the meme so much and since they don’t do it anymore I thought I would give it a go since I used to do it all the time.

Yes she wrote quite a few historical’s set around India and the middle east. More medieval settings around sheikhs and harem type settings. But probably one of my favorite author to read those settings. So I just love her work and her writing is so amazing. One of the most well written authors in historical romance.

Yeah she is one of my favorites in HR’s actually, one of the first authors I fell for and her writing is wonderful. She does write some wonderful contemporaries if you are interested. My favorite you would probably like is Capture the Rainbow.

I think I’ve read some of her crime fiction but I know I’ve got some of her historicals on my TBR. I’ll be bumping them up to do as independent reviews this year. 🙂
