Tea and Biscuits: The Must Read Romances For The Month of Love

by | Feb 5, 2018 | Uncategorized | 14 comments

It is the beginning of February, so in Celebration of Valentines Day coming up, I wanted to share why romance fiction is my greatest love and in fact why I decided to devote my whole site just to my love of romance and also share those must read books you need to include in your Valentines time reading.

I will admit that I am not a huge fan of Valentines Day as a holiday. I don’t like that there is this one holiday that gives the impression that this is the one day who you can only do something special for your loved one. Or how it also pushes pressure on those that are single, that something is wrong if you aren’t having a special date with someone. For example, I currently don’t have a boyfriend, I am back to dating but I have no plans for Valentines Day except for some yummy chocolate and binge watching on some chick flicks. But I do love celebration LOVE because I LOVE it so much. But there are certain books that I alsways love to read around this time of year because they are my favorites and beyond swoony worthy. So whether you are relaxing at home with a good book or going out on the town with  your special someone or your gals….what do you love most about reading romance?

As I have thought about why I love a good romance, it takes me back to what made me fall in love with it in the first place. I think the beginning impression, was that it made me feel so happy inside and out. I love seeing someone normal and average finding a great love and connection with someone that “gets” them and seeing them find a Happily Ever After and I totally belive that a HEA is realistic. It can happen for anyone, it is all about your outlook. And growing up LDS which we believe we will be with our mates and families forever, so I guess I have always believed in a happy ever after. And I guess I have such a romantic heart ( I blame it on my dad who is such a romantic. I definitely believe that romance novels give back in so many different ways and reading a wonderful romance just lifts my spirits and makes my day a bit lighter and I love being able to immerse myself into a story that takes me to a different setting or world and sweeps me away from reality to a place so completely different and unique.

So let me show you the books that are the BEST of the best romances and the books I always do a solid re reading this month that are must reads for any romance lover and books that I can’t recommend enough.

Outlaw Hearts by Rosanne Bittner

I have so much love for this book and really the WHOLE series. Its one of the most unique series that I have ever read. We see this couple fall in love in their twenties and see them  live and love throughout their lives until book four where they are in their 50’s and 60’s. We see the strugglies and the triumps, how much they grow together and see them raise a family together and even how they are with grandkids. These two always make me smile, because their love is so epic and deep.

The Pirate Lord by Sabrina Jeffries

There is something I adore about this book that I have loved for so many years. I have a paperback copy that is one of my most prized possessions. I just adore these two together and not just the main couple, there is a side couple that I root for just as much. This book reminds me of what a chick flick might be with a pirate in the 1800’s. Its sexy and flirty and plain fun!! I honestly can’t recommend this wonderful love story enough.

Rock Hard by Nalini Singh

Ever since this book came out, I have adored it and its always a must read for me especially when I am in the more “romantic” like mood. The bantering between these two is just awesome from where our lovely heroine throws a stapler at her boss (our hero) to cooking in the kitchen together and the smexy times that are sizzling and this book just makes me laugh so HARD!! I just love it so much, and is a must read for everyone!!

Radiance by Grace Draven

This is one of the most Unique romance novels that I have ever read in my lifetime. I just love and adore this pair so much. An arranged marriage of two people that find each other distasteful when it comes to looks. But we see them start out as friends which turns into something more. We see how being attracted to each other is a growth, they find each other ugly and then once love blossoms so does them finding each other physically appealing. And the writing is superb.

Dark Wolf by Christine Feehan

I have always had such love for this author but I will say that this book is one of my favorites. An alpha hero and a strong but emotionally damaged heroine who goes out to save the life of Dimitri who is being tortured and only Skyler and her friends are brave enough to save his life. These two are simply wonderful together and one of my most anticipated couples that this author has written. Those that have followed this series know how long we had to wait for Dmitri and Skyler’s story and was truly wonderful.

Texas Glory by Lorraine Heath

I have adored reading this book over the years and out of all the books that this author has written, this is the most romantic and emotional for me. This author truly did a tremendous job in writing this one and I still have this in paperback after ten years. And I still love reading this one no matter the time of year or my mood.

Devil In Winter by Lisa Kleypas

I cannot say enough about this book here and how amazing it is. So swoony and heartwarming and sexy and such endearing characters that come alive in this book. Simply fantastic and I will be reading this next week for SURE!!!

Warprize by Elizabeth Vaughan

Ever since I picked up this book I have LOVED it so much and their relationship is so sweet despite how the beginning gets set up.  A barbarian warlord and a princess have a marriage of convenience to end a war and its definitely not what it appears and I loved seeing this story unravel and I just adore re reading it and is always a delight to read.

The Secret by Julie Garwood

This is one of the best romances EVER written!! I can’t stress enough how much love that I have for this book here. Its witty and endearing, swoony and romantic and full of history that is so well written.

It’s nice to be in the company of other hopeless romantics. 😉 Love the list you put together! Lisa Kleypas, Nalini Singh, Rosanne Bittner, and Mary Balogh’s work would be my top choices.

I think I was in love with romance before I knew what it was. My parents were a large part of that, too. My dad was the more obvious about it in real life, but my mom was the one who got me hooked on swoony romance reading.

    Great list of books, there!

Romances always make me feel so happy, too! I fell in love with the romance genre because I was reading books that focused on women, and their wants. I just felt like I could relate to the women so much. And I also believe that HEA is realistic. Obviously there are ups and downs in any relationship, but that doesn’t mean that HEA isn’t real. You are sharing some AMAZING books. YOu know much I love The Secret. And i love Devil in Winter and Rock Hard so much!
