Tea and Biscuits Book Discussions: Thanksgiving Book Tag

by | Nov 19, 2018 | Book Tag | 0 comments

Welcome to the feature “Tea and Biscuits Book Discussions” where every monday we get together to talk about issues in the bookish community and our love of books and romance.……

I found this book tag at Books for MK’s and I am so glad that I discovered it. Thanksgiving is soon to happen and I am thrilled. And I always feels like its a good idea to reflect and find those things to be grateful for and what we appreciate in life and I love look at what books do for us to allow us to appreciate life.

1. Name a book that made you thankful you live in your world and not the book’s world.

As much as I love this world that Ilona Andrews has created, its NOT a world I would ever want to live in EVER. Its way too violent of a life for me and I don’t think I could kick ass very well so I would probably die YOUNG. hehe

Okay….so I love this world that Ruby Dixon has created for her readers however, I do want to say I don’t think I would want to live on a ice planet for the rest of my life. As much as I like the winter season I wouldn’t want to do it ALL of the time. Although if I had one of these guys as my mate, it might be worth it.

Now you all know how much I love anything historical romance, and even though this is one of my favorite medieval romances, this is not a era I would ever want to live in to be honest especially in how they treated women and how little say that they had in their lives. Even though I love reading these era’s, when I read these books it makes me appreciate living in a time where women aren’t considered property.

Now this is a darker romance, but the world these characters live in is not one I would want to live in. You really have to be tough and rough around the edges and its pretty dark. Living in a mafia like world that is full of violence isn’t one I could live in.

2. Give thanks to a book that changed your perspective.

This was my first series where I was introduced to a couple that was gay. Force of Nature is one of their book, although one of the characters “Jules” has played an active role in the WHOLE series and I just love him so much. Now I will admit that before reading these books I didn’t have much thought concerning the LGBTQ community since I read these books in the early 2000’s and I grew up sheltered. But when I discovered these books in my late teens, my world shifted and I came to appreciate members of this community so much more and I learned so much. I am so grateful that Brockmann implemented such a primary character in her books who is gay and seeing him find his own story.

This was part of a series that got me hooked on romances in the first place. But this book especially opened my eyes to the struggles of those that suffered in the early days when slavery was a common practice. And to the fight of those in the Civil War. I adore Beverly Jenkins so much and she not only writes well historical facts but also some of the most poignant and swoony love tales.

Before I picked up Dark Challenge, I hadn’t read any paranormal and I read this before Twilight came to be. And yes there was paranormal romance before that book was written hehe Anyway I had only read mostly historical romance and a handful of some contemporary. But when I picked this book up I discovered a whole new world and I have such a love for this book and yes I prefer the original audio narrations over the newer ones. Juanita Parker and Rebecca Cook are queens!!

I am so grateful to have read this book….one this author helped me fall in love with New Adult romance which I hadn’t read before this author. But this book also featured a hero that is a male escort. Now I never try to judge anyone but this book helped me to be more understanding and have empathy more. And that male/female escorts need love and a happy ending too. 🙂

3. What character would you be thankful for if they were your significant other?

Hound is one of my favorite heroes that Kristen Ashley has ever written. I love how devoted and true he is, a beast in the bedroom, and tender and kind and likes to CLEAN!!

REMINGTON TATE!! My goodness, this man can make any woman swoon. I wouldn’t mind having him as my significant other though. He is devoted, intense, works hard and is supportive and takes good care of his body which is a plus.

I just adore Derek Malory, he is my favorite of all the Malory’s well….maybe I should put in Jeremy too because he is good too. But Derek is a good man and solid. He is a fighter and will stand for his woman no matter what is in his way.

Fey King Rain Tairen Soul is such a memorable hero and I love how he treats his lady. He is so respectful and patient and understanding. He is the type of man that admires courage and strength and always will have your back.

4. What character would you say “thanks, but no thanks”?

Now I couldn’t think of a main character that I would say thanks but no thanks…but I can definitely think of a side character. The heroine, Cordelia has a very horrible brother in this book. He is AWFUL, abusive and controlling and rapes little boys so he definitely deserved the end he got.

5. Name a book that made you laugh out loud, just like your drunk Uncle Earl at Thanksgiving.

Okay so I don’t have a Uncle Earl….but I do have a Uncle Merle who is so funny and always makes me laugh.

This book is fantastic and I think all I need to say is PALL MALL!!! My gooness the bantering of this family is superb and boy they play brutal against each other hehe

Lynsay Sands is always an author I can count on to make me laugh and boy this book has me laughing all OVER the place.

You can never go wrong with Julie Garwood’s historical’s and this book is the most fun and witty that she has written and considering the time era its written in, is very admirable.

This BOOK!!! I can’t tell you how much I love this book. Its SO dang good and its hilarious. Every page is filled with witty humor to have you burst out laughing so don’t read this in public if you like to laugh in private. 🙂

6. Name a book that made you incredibly angry….just like your drunk Uncle Earl at Thanksgiving.

This book had me so MAD, and I never get mad but the angst in this book just darkened my mood so badly.

So What would be your picks for this book tag? Are there books or characters that you are grateful for? That have changed your life? Let me know in the comments below.
