Tea and Biscuits Book Discussions: Must Reads For The Christmas Season

by | Nov 27, 2017 | Tea and Biscuits Discussions | 12 comments

Now I know its not quite December quite yet but its close and I already have the Christmas tree up with the trains and the North Pole Village, lots of holly and lights and listening to some good ole Trans Siberian Orchestra and now I am read for some jolly romances and I can’t wait to get into some snazzy cozy Christmas reads and I just love reading Christmas love stories they just rock. I always have some re reads that I read every year but there are some new releases that I am highly looking forward to …so I wanted to share those books that I have on my shelf just waiting to be read this Christmas season.

It’s Christmas time in London and Rafe Bowman has arrived from America for his arranged meeting with Natalie Blandford, the very proper and beautiful daughter of Lady and Lord Blandford. His chiseled good looks and imposing physique are sure to impress the lady-in-waiting, and if it weren’t for his shocking American ways and wild reputation, her hand would already be guaranteed.

Before the courtship can begin, Rafe realizes he must learn the rules of London society. But when four former Wallfowers try their hand at matchmaking, no one knows what will happen. And winning a bride turns out to be more complicated than Rafe Bowman anticipated, especially for a man accustomed to getting anything he wants.

However, Christmas works in the most unexpected ways, changing a cynic to a romantic and inspiring passion in the most timid of hearts.

A Wallflower Christmas takes a trip to Victorian London, under the mistletoe, and on a journey of the heart

Oh how much I adore this book so very much. Its one of my favorites and I believe I have read this every year during the Christmas season because its such a great one. The Wallflowers is my favorite historical series, and so to see these lovely ladies and their men get together during the Christmas holiday and even bring a couple together is wonderful. It has all the makings of a heartwarming Christmas romance that warms your toes on a cold winter’s eve.

Revisit the Mackenzies in this heartwarming Christmas tale of the New York Times bestselling Mackenzies series.

The Mackenzies gather for a clan Christmas and Hogmanay in Scotland. In the chaos of preparations for the celebration–the first of Hart and Eleanor’s married life–one of Ian’s Ming bowls gets broken, and the family scrambles to save the day. Daniel busily runs a betting ring for everything from the hour Eleanor’s baby will arrive, to whether Mac’s former-pugilist valet can win a boxing match. Ian begins a new obsession, and Beth fears that the loss of one of his precious bowls has made him withdraw once more into his private world

There is something so unique about the Mackenzie family clan and to see these siblings who have suffered and overcome so much, and see them after their HEA is truly wonderful and see the way they are still going through life that is far from perfect.

Everyone knows that an Effington always getsher way … but this time it’s not going to be easy!

Lady Elizabeth Effington simply could not suitably feel the joy of the Christmas season. Ten years had passed since she had boldly declared her love for Sir Nicholas Collingsworth. He rebuffed her and set out to seek his fortunes, while Elizabeth was left a woman scorned. Now, she discovers in horror that the inheritance she’s managed beautifully was never hers to control. No, power over her finances lay in the hands of the last man she ever wants to see again: Nicholas!

But running Elizabeth’s life isn’t part of Nick’s plans. He’s intrigued when he discovers that the frivolous and flighty girl he once knew has turned into a beautiful and capable woman. Nick vows to woo — and win — her, and while she seems unmoved by his fervent seduction, he swears he will not rest until she accepts that most precious gift of all — the gift of love.

This is one of the most festive of romances I have ever read. I love the Christmas theme we have going on especially since it involves a great telling of A Christmas Carol. Its definitely one of those that get me in the spirit of Christmas and it has such a cozy feel to it.

Genevieve and Jeremy have known each other since they were seven, and have been summertime best friends at Camp Meira, a Jewish overnight camp in the mountains. As campers, and then as staff, their friendship was a constant, something neither wanted to change, no matter how tempting those changes might be.

Then, last year, with little warning, Jeremy left camp early. After that summer, Gen left the country on a graduate fellowship.

Now, a little over a year since they were last at Meira, Gen and Jeremy are back together to help run a special Winter Camp during Hanukkah. Any water under the bridge is frozen this time of year, and with so much left unspoken and unexplained, this week may be their chance to rekindle their friendship, or turn it into something new.

Meet cute…

Run for the hills—temporarily. That’s Colbie Albright’s plan when she flees New York for San Francisco. Wrangling her crazy family by day and writing a bestselling YA fantasy series by night has taken its toll. In short, Colbie’s so over it that she’s under it. She’s also under the waters of a historic San Francisco fountain within an hour of arrival. Fortunately, the guy who fishes Colbie out has her looking forward to Christmas among strangers. But she’s pretty sure Spencer Baldwin won’t be a stranger for long.

Make merry…

Spence’s commitment to hiding from the Ghosts of Relationships Past means he doesn’t have to worry about the powerful—okay, crazy hot chemistry—he’s got with Colbie. Just because she can laugh at anything, especially herself… just because she’s gorgeous and a great listener just because she gets Spence immediately doesn’t mean he won’t be able to let Colbie go. Does it?

and hope for a miracle.

Now the clock’s ticking for Colbie and Spence: Two weeks to cut loose. Two weeks to fall hard. Two weeks to figure out how to make this Christmas last a lifetime.

Everyone in town knows that Christmas in Twilight has a way of bringing lovers together . . . but will its magic bring this pair from “I won’t” to “I do”?

Wearing a too-tight “Santa Baby” costume held in by a double pair of Spanx, Paige MacGregor runs headlong into a gorgeous, grey-eyed hunk of a long, tall cowboy. And not just any cowboy, but country-western star Cash Colton, visiting Twilight to perform in a charity concert. Most women would melt at his feet, but Paige knows all too much about self-assured men with cocky attitudes, so she tells him to get lost.

Cash is in town, nursing his own broken heart, but Paige has knocked him off his feet. He’s convinced she’s perfect—someone to inspire his music and share his now-empty bed. True, he’s not marriage material, but he’s determined to convince her that they’re perfect together—at least for a while. But what he doesn’t count on is falling in love with the one woman who isn’t about to give him the time of day!

I’ve exhausted all my planned holiday reads during November, but there are certain books or novellas I like to pick up again and re-read- old Jo Beverleys and Carla Kellys or Grace Burrowes. I think Christmas in the Cowboy’s Arms will make my re-read list because I loved that antho.

I do try to read a few Christmas reads each year, but usually those are new releases. I don’t re-read a lot of books. From your list I’ve read Chasing Christmas Eve this year so far.
