Tea and Biscuits Book Discussions: Joy of Christmas

by | Dec 18, 2017 | Uncategorized | 14 comments

Christmas is coming and so SOON!!! Its a week away and so to help you get in the Christmas spirit of this year, I thought I would do a Christmas Book Tag I found called “Joy of Christmas” where this brings some fun elements that I just love about Christmas. I found this one originally at Zezee Books. I am going to limit my answers to books that I have read this year only, since I have read too many books in my lifetime.

Anticipation: The Christmas excitement is real, what book release(s) are you most anticipating?

There is so much excitment and thrills surrounding the Christmas season. There are however some book releases coming out in 2018 I can’t wait for!!! There are so many wonderful books coming out this year. Now I would say I have been waiting for Highland Ever After for years since there have been author delays and change of publishers so I am *crossing my fingers* that this book will REALLY come out this year. Then we have Sparks, book and that is all because the first two books were FANTASTIC and I love me some yummy dragon loving. Then we have Bastard’s Book, the conclusion of the O Malley family so bring it on Katee Robert. Judgment Road is just a continuation of two other series by Feehan and I am intrigued in how she will handle some biker romance. And Ocean’s of Light is NALINI SINGH–need I say more??!!!

Christmas Songs & Carols: What book or author can you not help but sing its praises?

These are books that I can’t say enough about and if there was a carol I could sing about these books….I would sing it for the world to hear. 🙂 What have you thought about these books here.  All of these were downright AMAZING and I have so much love for these books that I couldn’t put down. The Sea King especially would be my favorite book of the year if I had to choose one. I loved a sexy merman and some great worldbuilding that we find in So I Married A Sorcerer. Then some intense yet fun Rivalry fun times of football we are given by Nikki Sloane. The conclusion of Jake and Miranda’s epic story that gives them some closure they deserve. I got the intense moments that Remy becomes an epic adventure. And finally the son of Sebastian and Evie get his happy ending and some great teaser in this fun St. Vincent family I can’t wait to see more of.

Gingerbread Houses: What book or series has wonderful world building?

If I had to choose just one I would say that I Married A Sorcerer was the best of the year for me. We see so much great world building that didn’t overwhelm the story, it only enhanced it and one of the BEST books that Kerrelyn Sparks has ever written.

A Christmas Carol: Favorite classic or one that you want to read.

This is a classic I haven’t read in YEARS and I want to rediscover this wonderful world of Avonlea I fell in love with when I was just a child.

Christmas Sweets: What book would you love to receive for Christmas?

I would love to have a ARC of this for Christmas, it would be the best gift for me. I have been eagerly anticipating this one ever since Bound Together. I love a pnr biker romance and Feehan always works for me. 🙂 I think I would seriously do a happy dance in the middle of the street—that is how happy I would be.

Candles in the Window: What book gives you that warm fuzzy feeling?

Out of all the books that I have read in 2017, this book gave me the best warm fuzzies EVER!!! But then Curran and Kate always do this for me. I just love their relationship and seeing them adjust to be outside of the pack and being in more danger from Kate’s father. And seeing their relationship being challenged. But honestly, Curran is one of those heroes that just makes you grin inside and out and you can’t get enough.

Christmas Trees & Decorations: What are some of your favorite book covers?

Christmas Joy: What are some of your favorite things about Christmas and/or some of your favorite Christmas memories?

I have so many wonderful memories of Christmas and most, if not all, revolve around my family. Even though things are perfect in my family, Christmas is the one time of the year I felt truly loved and accepted. And that is something I have always struggled with. I remember growing up driving up to Idaho to visit my grandparents. They had such a beautiful home, but it was the feeling of “love” in the home that made all the difference. The delicious meals we made together, the playing of cards (along with my mother and grandpa cheating under the table) 🙂 to putting puzzles together while watching movies as a family. Some of my best memories are of Christmas Eve. After a lovely dinner of parmesan steak, twice baked cheese potatoes, and peas with cream and pull apart bread and some grasshopper pie. We would gather in our living room, get into our new pajamas, each of us could choose a christmas song to sing and my dad played the guitar and we would do sing along songs and rotate it with sharing Christmas short stories we would read to each other with the final story of the REAL christmas story in the New Testament.

I tag everyone to do this tag.

It’s almost Christmas so why not have fun with a bookish tag.

Happy Holidays!

I’m doing this tag on Thursday! Some of my best memories are of Christmas, too. I loved the snow, and the gift-giving, and the decorations, and the food. Mostly the food.

Neat tag! I am definitely anticipating Ocean’s Light. I thought about the Christina Feehan, but then realized its a spin-off of a spin-off series and I think I want to get them in order since there are crossover characters and situations.

Some real lovelies in your reading piles from this year. Oh, your Christmas memories sound so sweet. Most of my good ones are with family, too.

Thanks Sophia!! I had such a blast with this tag. And got me in the Christmas mood too. I do think that Judgment Road would be better read if you have read the connecting series. So hope you pick those books up soon 🙂
