Tea and Biscuits Book Discussions: Fall Favorite Reads

by | Oct 31, 2016 | Tea and Biscuits Discussions | 13 comments

I can hardly believe that its almost November, and soon we will be getting ready for my favorite holiday and no its not Christmas (although I love that one too) It’s Thanksgiving. Many ask why its my favorite over Christmas, and for me, the focus is spending the day with your loved ones, eating a good meal you prepare together and playing cards or watching football or even putting a puzzle together. But I was lucky that my father is Canadian, and I was able to celebrate Canadian Thanksgiving before I left with my family. So this year, I have no idea what I am doing yet. I still have a month though. This fall has gone by so quickly for me, and has been quite crazy. With the move to Texas and getting settled in and yeah life hasn’t settled down yet. But soon I will go from three jobs to two….yippee!!! I have more time to read. But today I wanted to share some of my favorite reads this fall. And I have discovered some goodies here.

idolIdol by Kristen Callihan

I just recently read this one and boy was it good!!! Not what I expected either, but a solid rock romance that was quite entertaining. First off this book had me laughing my head off, this pair they were so adorable together. And they have their own share of tumbles and struggles, but I love the way they find their happy ending and we some amazing character growth especially with our heroine. If you enjoy rock star romances, I highly recommend you give Idol a go.

What a book!!! I truly loved and adored this book. One of the best I have read all year and it has been so long since I have read a contemporary royal romance, so it was so fun seeing this story come to life!!! And boy was it hilarious and very entertaining. I think what won me over with this story was the characters. They truly were so well written and I can’t wait to see what Chase does with the series

I have to say that over the past few years, I haven’t been impressed with this author as I would like, but she did a splendid job with this story. It was simply fantastic to read and I couldn’t get enough of it. I was really worried about this one, but what a great book it was. I was able to listen to it and the narrator was fantastic!! It was one of those audio books you had to have your earbuds in every chance you could. The romance was wonderful, a couple you can cheer for.

Another fantastic read by Emma Chase and my favorite of the series!!! This was so sweet and charming, and I loved the way Chase put this story together. She just made Jake and Chelsea fit so well together. And I LOVED the kids in this one, and how they wrap their way around Jake’s little finger….a big bad ass in the courtroom is weakened by these hellions. hehe It was quite wonderful to see their story unfold and if you have yet to read this series or this author…..CHANGE THAT STATUS NOW!!!

sparking-the-fireSparking The Fire by Kate Meader

What a sexy and fiery romance….I do love me some firefighters, but dang this one might top my list of favorites. I honestly couldn’t get enough of it. This is a second chance romance, so it might not be everyone’s cup of tea….but since its one of my favorite tropes, I just soaked this book up like a sponge. And at first I wasn’t sure how I felt about this one before picking it up, but Meader won me over very quickly. Her writing is addicting, and this book was one I couldn’t put down and I became so endeared by the other couples too!!! A sexy and irresistable read.

This book was quite a bittersweet read for me. The last official book of one of my all time favorite PNR series ever written, although I know she has talked about another series that would connect to this one. So with that in mind, this book was far different. For one, there wasn’t a main couple in this book. Instead we get snippets from all of our favorite couples and a mysterious plot that is very engaging. Reading this made me want to do a re read of the whole series.

nights-masterNights Master by Amanda Ashley

This is one of the best books I have read from this author and even though I can’t say that this is my top favorite of hers…its definitely on the top of the list. It was so perfect to get me in the spirit of Halloween too….a very spooky read which I don’t find very much in PNR anymore. Its definitely a book you don’t want to read in the dark and all alone hehe But I loved the way she mixed up Vampires and Shape Shifters in this story and has me eager to pick up the rest of the series. I really adored the way their romance developed and the heroine I loved because she loves books and runs her own small town bookshop!!!

Thanksgiving is my favorite, too. I haven’t spend Thanksgiving with my family in over twenty years, but I have fond memories of them (I do get with my family once a year- didn’t want to sound like I never saw them). Fun that you go to do Canadian Thanksgiving.

Hmm, no, I haven’t read any of those, but I do have one on my shelf and three on my wish list. For me, it would be the Sweet Home series by Tillie Cole, Someone to Love by Mary Balogh, Archangel’s Heart by Nalini Singh, A Study in Scarlet Women by Sherry Thomas, and Of Flame and Light by Cecy Robson.

I love Thanksgiving, too. I hope things are going well in Texas and that things are working out. I haven’t read any of these, except part of Royally Screwed. I love the cover for that Christine Feehan book. It’s so dreamy.

I don’t celebrate Thanksgiving, but I’m eager for it to be here so I can get a break from school and just read all the books.
Most of these books sound like they were a huge hit for you and I’m glad to hear that. I’m so happy you liked Sustained. It’s one of my all-time favorite romance books and yes to all the kids! They were adorable and so funny.
I need to pick up the Kate Meader book! Sexy and second chance romance? I’m so in!

Thanksgiving is definitely my favorite holiday as it’s all about giving thanks and about our loved ones. There are quite a few great books on this list! Of course you know I loved both by Emma Chase and Nalini Singh’s anthology. I so want to read Kate Meader’s soon. Going Down Fast by Carly Phillips was a lovely, hot & steamy romance, as was Not Quite Perfect by Catherine Bybee. Roman Crazy by Alice Clayton and Nina Bocci was crazy good. And a controversial one that’s not a romance but was really thought-provoking was Small Great Things by Jodi Picoult.

Hmm, you’ve got a great list here. Sustained was probably my favorite read from last year. I absolutely love that book and Allegiance of Honor was a great read too. I’m looking forward to reading Idol and Royally Screwed though. I need to get on that already.

My favorite reads of the fall are definitely Someone Like You by Lauren Layne but I can’t think of any others off the top of my head. There’s too much going on up there. LOL. Great post though!

We don’t celebrate thanksgiving here in the Netherlands, although through books I have gotten a bit of a feel for the holiday. You sure had some good reads this month. I am especially curious about Royally Screwed and added it to my wishlist.
