Tea and Biscuits Book Discussions: Audible Romance Package

by | Jan 15, 2018 | Tea and Biscuits Discussions | 22 comments

Welcome to another week of joining in on the Tea and Biscuits book discussions where we talk shop about books, blogging, and more!!

Today I would like to cover a topic that has become close to my heart and has been so fun for me lately. I wanted to share my thoughts on this new delight. I am sure if you are a romance lover or love audio books, than you have heard of this.

So Audible came out with a special package for those that love romance and the moment that I heard of this package, I just knew that I was in love with this idea. So what is the romance package?

Well this is where Audible offers unlimited listening to a various array of romances on audio. Now there are two ways that you can grab at this package. If you already have a membership than its only $6.95, and if you want the package on your own than its $14.95. So what is in the package? It features thousands of books, you can search through various topics, themes and categories. There are various genres, and there are some top pick authors that you woudn’t expect to be in this deal. Let me list a few that are included: Mary Balogh, Kristen Ashley, Vi Keeland, Lexi Blake, Kristen Proby, Maya Banks, Stephanie Laurens, and Thea Harrison just to name a few.

I won’t say that this package has everything, because it doesn’t have ALL the romance. But it has quite a few great titles that still surprises me that would be a part of this package. In my opinion this is well worth the cost, because I have discovered so many wonderful authors the past month since trying out this package and I definitely plan on keeping it.

There are some aspects of this package that doesn’t really appeal to me. It has the option to skip ahead to various moments such as first kiss or the conflict of the relationship. Personally I don’t think I will ever do this, because I like listening to the full story or I feel like I am missing out on something important. They also offer you a scale to see how steamy the story really is. Now from what I have seen so far, its pretty accuarate but I have only listened to a few audiobooks from this package so that option is still on the fence in how much I will pay attention to it.

What is nice that there is a small purple icon at the top right so that you know if its a part of the package. And there are quite a bit of books that are offered. I will say that there is one more con to this package that I hope will change in the future. I feel like the Contemporary genre is the most prevalent of the package and I would like to see more balance in the sub genres. I would love to see WAY more historical and paranormal especially. There just isn’t enough of that genre to satisfy me and I am crossing my fingers that this will happen soon. If not, its alright because I am trying new authors in Contemporary and New Adult that I am loving to read and listen to so far.

Some of my favorite titles in this package that I have tried so far:

Driven by K. Bromberg

Easy Kisses by Kristen Proby

The Duke and I by Julia Quinn

Lover Eternal by J.R. Ward

The Baller by Vi Keeland

If you are intrigued and would like to sign up or try it out for free for the first month, check it out HERE

Have you tried the Romance Package yet? What are your thoughts on this? Do you love it or hate it?

I’m glad to see so many bloggers enjoying this package! I tried it out but I don’t think I listen to enough audiobooks to justify the cost. I also like to have another physical/ebook copy of the book I’m listening to so I can read when it isn’t possible to listen.

I agree though it is a fantastic deal and they had a LOT to offer. What surprised (and pleased) me is that they also have young adult in the mix as well. YA rarely ever gets as steamy as adult but it was nice to see it included!

I love this package too. I actually signed up for a free trial, but I ended up cancelling. But only because I haven’t been listening to a ton of romance, and I have so many credits from audible that I need to use up. But once I do, I an so signing up for it. I’m so glad you love it.

That is awesome that you love this package too. It does have some great books here. I tend to use my credits as soon as I have them hehe so this actually works for me better and is a better deal for me in the long run. And it gets me to grab up more contemporary and new adult reads.

I’ve been testing audio books and so far they haven’t’ worked for me but a few people I know have tried and liked this package.

I don’t think (if I listened to audio books) that I would use the skip feature either but maybe for re-reads??

I am sorry to hear that they haven’t worked for you. I don’t think that they are for everyone. But they are perfect for me while I workout or even when I am at work or cleaning or organizing and then I can get books read at the same time and I love it. But I know some readers that don’t care for them.

I’ve been using the Audible romance package and I am obsessed with it. I listened to 3 books in one month and have so many more on my TBR list. Like you I haven’t used any of the skipping features but yes, the historical options are really lacking. Also the algorithm they use where they rate the steaminess is so terribly off. It has a YA book listed as being steamy and an erotic romance as somewhere in the middle.

oh yes, ever since I started in on this package, I can’t put these books down. I am loving it so much. But I do wish it was more balanced in other sub genres of romance. And I agree the level of steaminess is definitely not right. I would actually be shocked if a YA was even close to steamy right? Probably should get that fixed. Thanks for stopping by hun. Your comments always make me smile. 🙂

Also a fan of the romance package. I think the “Take Me The Good Parts’ is a thing nobody asked for and seems like it was created to help publicize the package, as if romance readers don’t want an actual story. With that said I’ve sample quite a few books and it has given me a chance to try things I might never normally pick up. I believe The Baller is on my TBR pile and I’m listening to Laure Layne’s Oxford series now.

YAY!! Another fan of the package. And yeah I have picked up books I am not sure I would have paid for to be honest. But you will love The Baller, so fun and the narrators are GREAT!! I will have to look up Laura Layne’s books.

I don’t know why you’d want to skip ahead in a book to a monumental scene, when you haven’t read all the footwork that went into the characters getting to that point. Seems like it would be a complete waste of a listening to a book. I actually haven’t had a device that I could use Audible with until Friday when I got my first smartphone. Yes, I was rocking a slider phone up until that point. So, I never paid much attention to apps and things of that sort that I couldn’t actually use. I love that there is an audible account just for romance readers since everything I read is romance. Although, maybe I will hold off on this until they get more sub genres in. I love a good contemporary every not and then but paranormal romance is my bread and butter. Thanks for putting this service on my radar. 🙂

SLIDER PHONES are awesome. I miss having one of those. 🙂 Yeah its pretty awesome that its romance focused. But then I am NOT that suprised, considering that romance is the leading seller in fiction. And yeah I LOVE paranormal and they don’t have too many in that genre unfortunately. My bread and butter is historical though but paranormal is next in line. There is something so thrilling about that genre right? Hopefully in the future, Audible will be putting more HR and PNR in the package.

I don’t get why anyone would want to skip to listen to just a certain scene. Odd. I do think that this service can be a good deal. I have such a backlog of purchased audiobooks that I can’t justify it but I think it would make a lot of sense for some readers.

Yeah I don’t understand it either unless its a re read. I love audiobooks, but I don’t have a ton of credits since I use them as soon as I receive them hehe so that it why I love this deal, its a much better option for many romance readers especially if they are on a budget.

Why would you want to skip ahead and ruin the anticipation? I don’t like that. I got the email to for this but I didn’t sign up. I get all my audiobooks from the library right now and I have more than I can read. I will keep it in mind though.

Yeah I have no clue why you would want to skip ahead?? Its like ruining the whole book for yourself. My library has some audiobooks, but not a ton of selection in the books I would want to listen to. So this works perfectly for me.
