Quickie Book Review-Bossman by Vi Keeland

Bossman is a delicious tale of an Alpha Male CEO, a feisty marketing specialist and some hot sexy tension in the office that will curl your toes.

Bossman is a story that has been recommended to me by many, especially by those that don’t read romance too often, so I just knew that this book I needed to grab up. I was delighted to find that it was a part of Audible’s Romance Package. So I grabbed it up and had a blast while I “listened while I worked” . I will say that I want to talk about the narration first. I really struggled with the narration at times.

At first, the female narrator, took a while to grow on me. Now eventually I did like her voice, but it took time. I would have loved to see more POV from our hero. We do get to see some flashbacks of his past, but I would have loved to get more depth from his character because HE ROCKED MY WORLD!! One unique aspect I have discovered from Vi Keeland, is that on the surface it seems like a fun and sexy romance, but there is so much emotional intimacy that is blew me away at first because I never expect it from this author.  I really adore the chemistry between these two. We have our hero, who knows how good looking he is and is cocky but highly fun to read. Our heroine doesn’t want to complicate her job with a relationship but it happens anyway.

The dynamics in their relationship proves to be wonderful and captivating. I was so drawn into this book here, the romance was delightful and I believe I was smiling all the way. They had me laughing and their quirks end up working so well for each other.

I do want what I don’t have. That’s part of it. But not in the way you think. Don’t ask me to explain it, but when I’m around you, I’m happy. That’s all I’m after

Overall this proved to be one of the most sexiest office romances you could ever pick up!! Gratifying, Sensual and Endearing!!

Book Review-The Baller by Vi Keeland

The Baller brings together a sexy pro football quarterback and a feisty sportscaster….a story that begins with intense chemistry and develops into a strong and poignant romance to curl your toes.

The Baller is another single title by Vi Keeland, although I am crossing my fingers that she will continue more with books like this one because she does great SPORT romances. I mean I was definitely hooked on this book from beginning to end. I am beginning to get addicted to the style of Vi Keeland. Her writing is so sassy and fun and gives me hoots of entertainment from the first page to the very end. Our featured key players in this wonderful book are:

  • Brody Easton, our shameful playboy, Brody is the Quarterback for a Pro Football team. He seems to have everything: A successful career, playing a sport he loves, women dropping at his feet and more than enough money to suit him for the rest of his life. But Brody has a painful past, and has been hurt and keeps things casual even though he earns for love in a place that no one can see
  • Delilah Maddox is a Football TV presenter and reporter and has worked herself to the bone for YEARS to get to where she is. She can name any stat of any player in the league in a heartbeat. She is the daughter of an infamous football pro player herself and understands the passion for the sport.

I have to say how impressed I was with this story, and I honestly didn’t think that I would enjoy this one as much as I did. I have no clue how Vi Keeland does it, but her books SO work for me especially her audio books. She has the best narrators and these narrators ROCKED MY WORLD!! Their voices are beyond sexy and sultry and I just wanted to listen more and more. The lady narrator I believe I have listened to before: Mackenzie Cartright…I really loved her voice. It was very engaging and I felt she implemented the tones of the book very well. And our male narrator: Sean Crisden —has such a swoony voice. And he totally worked for this book, he had such a rough and deep voice that matches the hero so well.

A great aspect of this book that I really enjoyed that you don’t always see in dual POV, is that we just about get the hero’s perspective as much as the heroine and that was SO awesome. Too many times we get too much heroine and not enough of the hero’s side of things, so I found it quite refreshing to see his side of things and although I would have loved to see more of him, what we get to see is pretty stellar.

Our story begins when Delilah, has been promoted and is starting to settle into her new job. She still has to deal with rude male workers who try to make everything about sex. Delilah has had to work so hard for the position she got. And now she is the living the dream. When she goes to interview the star MVP quarterback, Brody Easton, chemistry is off the charts between them. Even though she tries to be professional….Brody is shameful when he likes a woman and drops his towel for the WHOLE world to see. Yeah….you bet that the start of this book is unconventional and I was curious to see how these two would get along because on the surface they are so different from each other. The hero is playful and carefree and our heroine is a bit too serious. But once you get to the inner cores of the characters you begin to see how they balance each other out especially in their quirks.

“… You’re hot as fuck. And I like you.”

“Oh really? You have a funny way of showing that you like me. Every time I see you, you try to sabotage my interview.”

“Every time I see you, I expose myself to you.” He flashed me his trademark smile. “That’s how we show girls we like them where I’m from.”

“Where are you from, the jungle?”

“Brooklyn.”

I truly adored both Delilah and Brody in different ways. However, I will say that Brody was a hero that I soon fell in love with. Because yeah he is silly at times, but he has such HEART and depth to him and I love seeing him being “peeled” like an onion and what great layers he has that you just fall so quickly into.

There is one aspect of the story that drove me a bit crazy was the ex-girlfriend of Brody’s. It does add a sense of conflict to the story, so I can see why the author put this aspect in, it just got a bit frustrating toward the end. But in all honesty, it didn’t take away at all of my enjoyment of this story. And it was very unique, much different from what I was expecting especially when we get to see her POV on occasion.

Overall The Baller was a fantastic and thrilling story that had me feeling…ALL THE FEELS!! A story that is engaging, endearing and empowering.

Book Review-Easy Kisses by Kristen Proby

Easy Kisses is a sweet and deeply emotionally riveting romance that takes its readers back to New Orleans with a sexy brit and a southern gal who discover what true love is really all about…

Easy Kisses was such a fantastic addition to this wonderful series and a bit different. What I have really admired about this series is how unique each book is to the sibling of the Boudreaux family. And this story takes some unique elements and implements a warm endearing love story.

  • Simon Danbury, an English Brit, has become famous for his inspirational retreats for women especially in his talent of building of women’s self-esteem and learning to rise above challenges. Simon is hardworking, driven, and loves people. He understands what it means to be hurt by others and strives to help others rise above abusive relationships. He has a great sense of humor and is thoughtful and romantic. SUPER SWOONY!!!
  • Charly Boudreaux is one of the infamous Boudreaux family, she wanted her own place and set up a shop of shoes and dreams of expansion. But she has her own struggles and is emotionally in a tough spot. Charly is spunky, outspoken, but loving and supportive. She is driven and determined but craves love and commitment like her siblings have discovered and what her parents had together.

I personally think a lot of us feel ashamed when we try so hard to help someone, only to have that help thrown back in our face or ignored altogether, and we are doing ourselves such a disservice in feeling that way. It’s important to speak up, and to talk to those closest to you so they can help you. No one who loves you will stand for you being manipulated or hurt, and you should not be ashamed to talk about it.

THIS is the BEST book of the series or what I have read from Kristen Proby so far….HOT DANG,,, this book was beyond dreamy and I just wanted to sigh in so many moments because this book is the epitome of why I read a romance. There is hardly any angst, which I really liked. Of course, Proby has to put in some kind of conflict toward the end because no relationship is perfect right? But what I loved about this book is how easy this book starts off and the relationship between Simon and Charly.

Charly has been coerced by her sister, to join this women’s retreat in Montana. A completely different atmosphere, with mountains and hiking and bears. At first, she hates that she agreed to do this retreat but she soon realizes how good it is for her and how she needs some emotional and mental TLC. Charly works so hard with her business and needs this break and even though it forces her to face up to her past and what she really wants in life especially in the future with a man, she also comes to terms with who she is and where she wants to go on an emotional level. Then she meets Simon Danbury.  Simon is a British motivational speaker for women (AWESOME!!) Truly, this man is beyond sexy because I love how kind and thoughtful he is. There is truly nothing wrong with Simon, except for the fact that he has some unresolved issues with his ex who really really hurt him. But I love how he is with women and how he views them and really he practically worships women and so cool. I love how respectful he is of them. Now he has a strong chemistry with Charly but knows that there is no future for them, and he refuses to give into temptation and compromise his values of these “women retreats” because he wants women to feel safe. But Charly is more than eager to get into his bed and the chemistry between them is off the charts. They seriously love being together physically and Charly starts to realize that Simon gives her what she has craved for years.

The fact that I haven’t been with a man in forever is of no consequence. I want this man. Right now.

But then they go their separate ways until Simon realizes how happy he was with the short time that he and Charly were together and wants more because he knows that what they have is real and wants to explore it. So while working on his projects, he settles in New Orleans for a short time. Charly and Simon begin to “date” and really court each other. And of course, we have the Boudreaux brothers go all “protective” and make sure that Simon really cares for Charly. Which is pretty hilarious, because in some ways, men have not changed over the centuries hehe

There was such a normalcy to this story like honestly, you could see this book happening in real life….that is how real this story felt. Because the way they connect and date each other is so endearing and you can relate so well to it. But we also have two characters that are a bit flawed at times, and make mistakes. There is great personal growth for both these two individually and it was great to see them work though their own mistakes and become stronger together.

You’re stuck with me, love

Overall I found Easy Kisses a truly endearing and profound story that will make you grin like a Cheshire kitty…..Kristen Proby has outdone herself with this treasure!!

Book Review-Egomaniac by Vi Keeland

Egomaniac is a sexy, make you see stars type of romance. It’s a story that is crazy fun, full of barrels of laughs and highs and lows and real emotion with enough sexy times hot enough to make you want to tackle your partner!! 🙂

I had such a blast with this book and such a treasure to be found in Audible’s Romance Package and I just didn’t want to put this book away even when I had to. I just had the most delicious experience listening to this story that took that seat out from under me with this dreamy romance that I wished I could be a real part of. That is how real this story feels to the reader. This delicious story begins with a great scene between these howl with laughter key players:

  • Drew Jagger, the hero of the story, is a divorce lawyer, he is a dirty talker, sexy as sin but has a heart of gold that few people ever see from him. He is a devoted single father, who has been burned badly and has some personal issues to work through. He is loyal though and likes to keep things private.
  •  Emerie Rose, our feisty heroine, who is driven, devoted to her career but is kind and caring and a bit prudish at times. But she is so thoughtful but do not cross her because she will fight you will everything she has.

Drew and Emerie first meet when Drew has come home from a long vacation, only to find a strange woman, accusing him of taking her office in HIS office. Obviously, something weird has happened and Emerie has been scammed, but Drew takes great delight in the dilemma before him. (below is one of my favorite scenes)

She pushed one and proceeded to report the crime of entering one’s own office. “I’d like to report a robbery.”
“Robbery?” I arched an eyebrow and looked around. A lone folding chair and crappy metal folding chair were the only furniture in the entire space. “What exactly am I stealing? Your winning personality?”
She amended her complaint to the police. “A breaking and entering. I’d like to report a breaking and entering at 575 Park Avenue.” She paused and listening. “No, I don’t think he’s armed. But he’s big. Really big. At least six feet. Maybe bigger.”
I smirked. “And strong. Don’t forget to tell them I’m strong, too. Want me to flex for you?”

Before he knows it, he is helping get out of the mess, file a complaint and when learning that she has a warrant out for her from many years previous, he helps her out of it. Then he offers her a chance to share his “office”with him and she helps him out with office matters.

Even though Drew is a only “casual sex” man there is something different about Emerie. A young woman that makes him want to stare at her ass, but also wants to treat her to her favorite take out or make her laugh or argue with her for the sake of having a good time together. We see this player be not the player that you expect. I liked how these two act on their attraction and there isn’t any nonsense drama that the reader has to deal with.

I think your body likes me, and your head is fighting it. The two should fight it out like adults—naked in the bedroom with me

Another aspect that I can guarantee you will fall in love with is the emotional dynamics that become built up in this story that I wasn’t expecting. We have a hero that has been burned badly by a  woman he once trusted but hurt him in the worst way. Obviously, he isn’t the best at learning to trust, but Emerie makes him want to try for the first time. I love how “real” their relationship feel. Seeing how much they enjoy just being together, outside of the bedroom they have great chemistry. Emerie is a heroine that is highly trusting and yes at times she can be a bit naive but honestly, it didn’t bother me because she is naive in the good ways. Beliving in the good and honesty of human beings, she wants to trust in the good side of the human race.

I do love seeing how they help each other without realizing it. And boy their careers definitely match their history and personalities. Drew works as a lawyer and helps men divorce their wives and is very cynical about marriage and relationship. Ironically once he meets Emerie, he viewpoint on life really changes here. It happens slowly but I love that he doesn’t take his history out on Emerie on purpose. Emerie is a therapist who helps couples with their marriages and aids them in reconnecting. So she starts to learn the reality of “false hope” and that not all relationships work out in the end. But seeing the different in their relationship really shows how they balance each other out in the good ways and the bad too.

Then we have a twist that deals with Drew’s son and I know that having children in romances aren’t for everyone, but I am telling you that this aspect will work for you. We see a different side to Drew with him being a father. And seeing him learn some truths about his son, and their relationship was truly heartbreaking at times. But we see so much more depth to his character, and we see how he changes from being a father and how it motivates him in the good ways and I love how devoted he is to his son and what he is willing to sacrifice to this darling curious little boy that steals your heart.

Being a parent is a choice, not a right… Anyone can become a father, but it takes a real dad to love and raise a child as his own.

Overall Egomaniac was one of the best reads in contemporary for quite a long while, a story that is engaging and laughs your pants off, a book that will leave you with a smile and fond memories of this darling family that comes together and becomes stronger!!Sexy and filled with tasty delights!!

Book Review-Easy Melody by Kristen Proby

Easy Melody is a story that takes us back to New Orleans and this sexy family and a sizzling story where music is the heart….

I truly had a blast with Easy Melody and it was a bit different than the previous books which I really had a blast with. I truly liked how compatible these key players are with each other so without further ado…let’s talk!!

  • Callie Mills, our lovely heroine, has just lost her father and has come from Washington State to New Orleans to decided what to do what the bar he ran and whether she wants to stay in New Orleans and the man that makes her feel alive
  • Declan Boudreaux is musically talented in every real way, his heart is music, and very successful in everything he does. Declan is a bit of a playboy, never does serious relationships until now.

Easy Melody was one of those stories that started out a bit slow I will be honest. I did take a little while for me to get fully into it but once I was into it I just didn’t want to put this story away!! NOPE, I just wanted to keep listening all day to this off the charts sensual romance that made me laugh out loud and grin like some silly person. And seriously once this book was done I just wanted to do a dance in the streets. That is how good it was.

Your love is like a song, and our song is an easy melody that plays, over and over, in my heart. Some days it’s slow and sweet, and other days it’s fast and loud, but it’s always love. It’s my favorite song

What made the biggest impression on me for this book, was the relationship that develops between Declan and Callie. Both of them are so in tune with each other they just don’t fully realize it at the beginning of their “courtship”. At first, they just have great chemistry and once they get to the bedroom, there is enough heat it will fog up your winter windows. But they also just constantly have the easiest time together just having “fun”. They truly just enjoy keeping each other company and their relationship may be pretty high off the charts sexually, but they also form a wonderful friendship that is so endearing. I just wished that these two were real because they are “friend” material. I love how dedicated they are and true to themselves in the simple moments.

She’s still sleeping. She’s warm and sweet, and snores like a lumberjack. Bless her heart.

And boy does this hero know how to date a woman. Once he decides that he wants to pursue Callie for REAL….he goes all out and so creative too. From Netflix and Cereal dates to a Saints football game (and yes our heroine LOVES football) and even more treating her to a Seahawks game in Seattle and meeting up with his musical friends in Seattle. Which also meets we get introduced to some kick ass and simply lively characters from her other series. And boy I love it when an author does crossovers in series and oh my…I just want to pick this series up NOW because they were so fun. 🙂

What was so refreshing about this story was the “romance”. There is such a strong focus on their relationship, seeing them being so “normal”. Going on dates, laughing and being quirky together and having such warm moments build between them and a bit of drama but truly I loved the drama at the end. I had no issues with it because it’s so REAL. You could totally see this “misunderstanding” happening in real life for us mortals and I truly love this about Kristen Proby’s writing. Is that these circumstances that build, are so realistic and as a reader, you can relate so easily.

“I want to talk with you, learn you, lose myself in you. All of those things. And I don’t have any experience in that shit, but damn it, I want it with you. Because those little things, Callie? The talking as I walk you to your car, or laughing with you as we demo my house? Eating pizza on the porch? They aren’t little things to me. I’ve never done that with any other woman that I’m not related to by blood. I never wanted to.
“Until you, and it’s confused the hell out of me. All I want is a chance to start this over with you. We did it all backwards, and that’s on me. I get it. But damn it, let me try it again, because if you don’t, it’ll be the biggest regret of my life.”

We see some real moments with the family and boy the more I read this series the more I am falling in love with this family even more, from the bantering, to the ways they support each other no matter what happens and I love the way that just accepted Callie as a part of their lives. So keep your hats because this book will make you want to learn to “adjust your sails”

The narration for this book is STELLAR AWESOME!! Like honestly there is something about this pair that just wants to keep you listening all day. Sebastian York is one of the most talented male narrators you could ever listen to. His voice is beyond sexy and gives you the tingles. And Rachel Fulginiti is simply so easy to listen to, her voice is so pretty and real does the character’s inner voice so well and how she displays emotion and humor is wonderful. You will get a kick out this pair doing this narration together.

A truly heartwarming romance that will make you laugh, cry and everything between!! I can’t wait for more.
