Book Review-Dark Legacy by Christine Feehan

Dark Legacy is a powerfully provoking read that takes us to the western coast, of a powerful vampire, an innocent woman in trouble and a Carpathian who has found his lifemate after centuries of searching….

Dark Legacy is such a wonderful read and it definitely lived up to my expectations and there were so many fun elements about this installment. This series might be so long, but it’s going so strong and this is a true testament to Feehan’s talent. She is such a talented author. It was this very series that got me hooked on the paranormal genre, and as I have followed this series over the years, I fall in love with it constantly, year after year, seeing this great world that Feehan has penned that is captivating and enthralling. What a journey this author has taken us readers. In Dark Legacy, we have a story that follows the few previous books.

So some background information for those that haven’t read this series. We have a group of people called “Carpathians”, who originated in Europe, but after centuries have spread further out. Due to the many wars in the Dark Ages, many of the Carpathian people were murdered trying to help their neighbors fights Turks and many other groups. And now there are just a few females, and their people are dying. But somehow since learning that there are gifted women in the world that are compatible to be turned and be lifemates to the males who have gone centuries fighting vampires and evil creatures.  And the women that are their lifemates bring back color and emotion to the Carpathian males and keeps them from turning evil.

“Overwrought?” He repeated the word slowly as if he’d never heard it before. “Woman, a Carpathian hunter cannot possibly get overwrought. I just want to give you every possible opportunity to say you do not want me to bind you to me. I know you are my lifemate. I am ancient, and I do not always understand your modern world or the way women act toward their men. I believe it is my duty and privilege, my honor, to make you happy, but I am not certain I am capable of it when I believe strongly that my woman follows where I lead.”

In this story, we have our heroine, Emeline, who while trying to protect and save children was captured by a master vampire and tortured and raped violently. She was then rescued and brought to a sanctuary. Emeline considers herself dirty and unclean and not worthy of protection. She is pregnant by being raped by the master vampire and he is searching for her and left a sliver of himself inside of her so he can always find her and speak to her. Emeline is kind and caring and has a gentle nature. She doesn’t have a mean bone in her body. But she has dreams, of the man claiming to be her lifemate who will be killed trying to protect her. Dragomir is a strong Carpathian male and has been searching for centuries for his lifemate and finds her, but she is in danger from one of the most powerful vampires he has ever encountered. The beginning of the story just pulls you in pretty quickly in the story. There is quite a bit of suspense and action and I was captivated. But then we get to see the strong relationship that Dragomir and Emeline have together. Dragomir may be this big badass alpha male, but he is so tender and understanding with Emeline. I love how protective and accepting he is of her. He just loves her and will do anything to make her happy and make her feel safe.

You need to spend a little time at the computer. The days are long past where we kill our enemies and are glorified in song. Dragomir frowned. You were glorified in song? Of course. My deeds were great. Weren’t yours? My deeds were great, and yet no one glorified me in song. Köd alte hän. Darkness curse it, Sandu. That’s just not right. There must be some mistake.

We also get some great side cast of characters, the most influential and the one I love seeing throughout this whole series but has yet to have his own book is our beloved Gary. He definitely has changed through the books, who was once mortal and was changed to a Carpathian, but when you turn a male, it is quite different and Gary was filled with thousands of years of memories and knowledge and the darkness that comes with that. His lifemate is merely an infant currently and he is barely holding on. He has great healing capabilities. Gary is probably one of my top favorite characters from the WHOLE series so I loved seeing what a big part he played in this book and it will be a great day when Feehan writes his book. Because like many other readers that love this series….Gary is definitely a fan favorite.

Another fun aspect was seeing this group of Carpathians just come together and fight for one another and these innocent children who were tormented. I love how they just accept them and most especially Emeline who is really struggling with self-worth issues. What really changes for her though is the support and love these men and women have for her and her little daughter growing inside of her. Emeline has some powerful gifts and I love seeing this in her She is obviously recovering from serious trauma but we see her strength and courage. She is capable of dream walking and even of being able to change the sex of her baby without the vampire’s knowledge which has never been done before. I love how unique she is because I felt such a kinship to her character. She had many qualities that I could see in myself and many other women I know personally. I love how that resonates in Emeline and seeing how she overcomes her past trauma and fights in her own way.

He saw trust. Complete trust. It was a gift, a precious one, and it humbled him. I’ve got you, Emeline. I will always be with you.

We also get some unique happening at the end of the book here. We get two new powerful Carpathian women that have disappeared for centuries and we find out what happens to them and wow I was amazed since I have a feeling that these women will play a huge role in the future of the series. I can’t wait to see what Feehan has in plan for them.

Overall a story that exciting, keeps you on your toes, full of all the feels and will tug at your heartstrings!! BEAUTIFULLY WRITTEN

Book Review-Fueled by K. Bromberg

May contain some spoilers, read at your own risk…..

Fueled is the continuation of the Driven series, where our main characters go forward in their beautiful yet heartwrenching story of facing their pasts and someone wanting to drive them apart….will they succeed or is the love they share powerful enough to stand the tide?

I was drawn to Driven, and these wonderful yet passionate characters that have seeped into my soul and I just wanted more of them. Now at the end of Driven, our hero Colton pushes Rylee away. Fueled pretty much takes off the moment that Driven ends. Now, this is where the story gets even more interesting. In Driven, we only have the POV of Rylee. So we only got to see her side and viewpoint of circumstances and set of events. However, this story begins with Colton’s POV and a moment of his past when he was a little boy.

I’ve never let someone this far in because that means secrets are shared and pasts are discovered. And because it means you need. I’ve only ever needed myself – needing others only results in pain. In abandonment. In unspeakable horror. And yet, I need Rylee right now

Now I wasn’t a huge fan of Colton at first, but this is where we see a point of why he is pushing Rylee away. The pain and torments of his pain are so deep and heart breaking. I just wanted to wrap this little boy in my arms and protect him. Especially in his mantra of his superheroes that he clings to, wanting to be safe.

Spiderman. Batman. Superman. Ironman.

We see how his mother betrays him and practically beats him, emotionally abuses him and sells him to men. Then we see how Rylee goes back to Colton and sees a broken man who is damaged internally by how he has hurt her and she begins to see that she will need to fight for Colton.

I’ve been able to block things out for so long. Ignore emotions. Ignore everything, but you? You tear down walls I didn’t even know I was building. You make me feel, Rylee

There are many ups and downs in this story, but I did love the way that this book began and it made me happy at first to see them starting to slowly build trust between them. We see how much the “boys” from the home that Rylee runs, just adore Colton. We see the growth in their relationship and then we see something big happen. And honestly, the villain of the story, (sorry for my language) but “bitch” comes to mind when I think of her because of how obsessed she is with Colton, and the wedge she puts in place between Colton and Rylee is horrible. Now I will admit, that these two should have trusted each other WAY more than they do in this book. I really wanted to shake them both and tell them to get their heads out of their “booties” because honestly why believe in a woman who is so ugly on the inside. They really tend to hurt each other so badly in this book, that made me want to throw the book across the wall in a figurative sense. Colton doesn’t tell her the “whole” truth, and I don’t know why he didn’t, and Rylee shouldn’t believe a vindictive woman in her obvious need to drive them apart. I really like Rylee as a character, but she can be so naive at times. And it takes their two best friends to make them see reason and lock them up to force them to confront the issues that plague them and really learn to “fight” for one another.

But then this book ends on another cliffhanger and I was like “ARGGG!!! ” I don’t care for cliffhangers, but thankfully I have book three ready to listen to. *crossing my fingers* that book three and four aren’t as frustrating, and these two will learn to communicate a bit better and learn to fight for one another more.

Now the narration was pretty well done, I am honestly not sure if I like Sean Crisden’s voice, especially when he does other characters, They just tend to sound a bit off sync and it throws me off. However I have really enjoyed Tatiana’s inflections, she does narrate pretty dang well and I have enjoyed her work here.

Book Review-Driven by K. Bromberg

Driven is a fuel passioned romance that is fiery hot, intense with emotion and will draw you in like gravity….simply breathtaking!!

Driven is the first book in the Driven series and an epic romantic tale that I wasn’t expecting on taking a ride on. And I should have done more research because the ending KILLLED me and yes I will warn you that the first book ends with a cliffhanger and it tore me apart in ways that I didn’t expect. What I found most intriguing was the connection that Colton and Rylee have together. So let’s take you on a ride as I show you what made this book SO great.

Our key players of this delicious romance are:

  • Colton Donavan, a notorious race car driver, a playboy who loves racing and women while hiding who he truly is from everyone.
  • Rylee Thomas, works for a nonprofit organization that helps a boys home, who is down to earth and lovely on the inside and out.

WHAT A STORY!! I just adored this book so much. I saw this on Audible’s romance package, and I have had this book on my wishlist for YEARS!! So I knew that this was the perfect time to try it out. I was nervous because there were mixed reviews of the narrator, so I wasn’t sure how much that I would really like this one. But after a few chapters, I was completely hooked on this book.

I’m seeing the true Colton Donavan – the unmasked version with a vulnerability that makes me want to reach over and take the hurt that often flickers through those green eyes and make it better. To show him that love and commitment are possible without complications. That it is real and pure and much more powerful than ever imagined with it is built and shared between two people.

It begins with our heroine, Rylee, where she is organizing a fundraiser, and ends up trapped in a closet and is rescued by Colton Donovan, and the chemistry is so hot, and they share some super steamy kisses in that closet until Rylee stops him. Rylee is a “good girl” she has only had one relationship. She doesn’t ever do one night stands or casual sex and she isn’t capable of separating sex from emotion. She is tormented by the death of her fiancee two years previous. She tries to put Colton at a distance, however, Colton pursues her for reasons she doesn’t understand. But she sees something more in Colton than your average playboy. As Colton and Rylee begin to slowly pursue a relationship, seeing the bond that Rylee has with the boys from the home she takes on and defends, and the powerful chemistry that Rylee and Colton have. We see some hints of Colton’s character that I just gravitated towards.

I know all about baggage, sweetheart. I have enough of it to fill up a 747 and then some. My shit can’t be fixed. I’ve been broken for way too long for that miracle to happen

We sense that there is something dark and deep about Colton’s past and some great build up towards an intense cliffhanger that made me head back over the Audible to grab book two (which I am currently listening to) 🙂

If you love emotional turmoil in a romance, and a captivating couple that you fall head over heels for and a series that focus on one couple….then grab this one up!! You won’t regret it.

Book Review-Judgment Road by Christine Feehan

Judgment Road is a sensational edgy and raw romance that brings together two tortured souls who find redemption and a love they never imagined….

What a story and so intense!! Of course, this is Christine Feehan and I am never surprised with what books she puts out, they are ALWAYS intense, but this book had a different feel to it and I loved everything about this book. I was curious before grabbing this one, how Feehan would be able to handle a biker romance and SUPERB!! That is all, this book exceeded my expectations and more. I just have so much love for this author, and this book is evidence of how talented she is. Now Judgment Road is an extension of two previous series and I love the connection between the two series and this charming coastal town that I would love to visit in real life.

The key players in this amazing romance are:

  • Reaper, a man that is tortured by the sins of his past, who has had to commit acts to save the family he adopted as his own and to protect himself and defend the men and women he would give his life for. Reaper is a fighter, and a protector but is rough around the edges.

A beautiful, troubled man, forged by the fires of hell, ravaged by monsters.

  • Anya is on the run, her life is in danger and she is in hiding. She grew up on the streets, went to bartender school to make a good living and is dang good at what she does. But she is independent and doesn’t ask help from anyone. She is strong and resilient and courageous.

So this book was simply so emotional and what a ride this story turned out to be!!! I just couldn’t put this book down and I wouldn’t ever want to either. What I was really intrigued by in this story was the way that these characters pull together and the family of “torpedo ink” and the close bond they have for each other.

‘I can’t. I need a man whose first loyalty is to me. I want him fierce with his protection of me and our children. With you, the club will always come first, and I understand. I do. I just can’t live with that

The story begins when Anya starts working as a bartender in the Torpedo Ink bar. She keeps to herself and works hard. But there is one man among the Torpedo Ink brothers that scares her….Reaper. She thinks that he hates her especially when he tries to get her fired. Reaper has always had the job of protecting his brothers especially their leader and would do anything for Czar and his wife Blythe. He knows that Anya is hiding something big, and he doesn’t trust her or her secrets. But there is a danger surrounding them, and when a neighboring club comes to them for help in rescuing their leader’s wife who has been kidnapped and is probably being raped and tortured, they need information. Information that is needed to rescue the innocent woman and Anya has that information. There has been a great connection between Reaper and Anya, but their relationship is fragile. And Reaper makes a decision that may make him lose her forever…..

He needed her brightness. He needed to see himself the way she did. He could be that man because she believed he was that man

WHAT  A STORY that this turned out to be and I was blown away by this book and I never wanted it to end. Like seriously, Christine Feehan….this book could have been 600 pages or longer and I wouldn’t want it to end. There was such a riveting feel to this book and these characters just tugged at my heartstrings in the most poignant of ways. I will say that this is edgier, now if you are used to Christine Feehan’s style of writing than you will love this book. However, if you are new to her and aren’t a fan of darker themes, this book probably won’t be for you. Because it does deal with some tough subjects and it’s just not the type of story that everyone would love. It’s not light or fluffy, its edgy and raw but so riveting and I can’t share enough my love for this story.

My heart just broke so much for Reaper and Anya, these two just need love and affection so badly and I just wanted to weep for these two and their situation. But what was most remarkable about this book was seeing their relationship blossom so beautifully and the ways that they learn to fight for each other. It’s not easy for either of them, but they never give up on each other, no matter how terrible it gets. I was swept away by their bond, mostly because you see their pasts and how much they have suffered and seeing them trying to build something new and experience building a relationship which neither of them have ever done before so of course, they will make mistakes. But they work through these mistakes and only become stronger for it.

This is a story that will break you, it will wreak havoc on your emotions, but it will also deliver the most precious, tender and poignant romance you could ever pick up!! A TRUE JEWEL!!

Book Review-Wildfire by Ilona Andrews

Wildfire is the thrilling, on the edge of your seat thrills and chills as Connor “Mad Rogan” and Nevada try to come out on top for the danger that threatens them from an enemy they won’t see coming.

What an explosive installment in this series and boy I was just overcome in so many ways in this story. Nevada and Connor just grow so much in this story and we see their relationship deal with some unique dynamics that they have never dealt with previously.

Nevada knows that with her grandmother searching for her and her siblings, that they are in grave danger and each day she never knows if it will be the day that her grandmother will find them. But there is one way, is to claim themselves as a “House” which will protect them for three years and allow them to gain strength and build their protection. But when Nevada is called in to solve a case of Connor’s ex girlfriend, whose husband has been kidnapped, it will prove to challenge Nevada  with another woman threatening what she has with Connor. But Nevada is a woman who is a fighter especially when it comes to the man she loves.

We see some interesting complexities that rise in the story. Now the obvious strength of the story is the plot line dealing with the kidnapping and getting approved to be a house for Nevada’s family. The only downside to this story, and yes there was one small downside. The romance between Nevada and Connor took a back seat, and it felt less than normal with Ilona Andrews and I would have liked to see Connor and Nevada together more in this book especially with their relationship becoming more cemented than in previous books. What I was impressed by was the truly development of the story line.

This story was so ‘on the edge of your seat’ exciting. I never knew what would happen and there were some shocks that I didn’t see coming but I was so impressed with Nevada. Connor doesn’t want to make the situation worse for Nevada and is willing to put their relationship on hold or not announce it but Nevada is NOT subtle and not ashamed of what she has with Connor and I love how she is always showing what he means to her.

Overall Wildfire is a story of danger, intrigue, of unsuspecting villains and the true strength that Connor and Nevada have together….POWERFULLY PROVOKING!

Book Review-Ravage by Tillie Cole

Ravage is a stimulating story of sacrifice, of losing one self and having to make a difficult choice of family and love against a great evil…

Ravage was another wonderful installment in the Scarred Souls series. I have just been hooked on this series. But I was really excited when I saw that this book was available in the Romance Audible Package and I just jumped at a chance to read this book here. And boy was it good, not as good as the previous books but it had some elements that we didn’t see in the previous two books. The plot of the series as a whole really takes a new turn here that adds thrills and excitement for the reader. d

In Ravage, we have a heart-wrenching tale that will guarantee that it brings out some tough emotion due to this engaging kay players

  • 194 (Valentin), is our sexy hero, taken when he was just a boy along with his younger sister. And he does anything his “mistress” asks of him so he can get their freedom
  • Zoya Kostava, a Russian Mafia Princess, was taken to safety when her family was slaughtered and her two brothers taken captive.

This was a story that was a bit different than the previous two books, it was darker than the other two. It does deal with some difficult issues that not all readers might be okay with. However, if you enjoy reading dark romances, then this book will definitely work for you. Our hero Valentin, was young when he and his sister were taken prisoner at the orphanage. He vowed to make sure she was safe and do everything he could to free them one day. Valentin has been made to be a killer, a slave to the drugs that his “mistress” makes him take through his collar. He never has a choice but his life will take a unique change in his new mission to kill Zaal, the man who killed his mistress’s love. But his quarry is a woman who means something to Zaal, his beloved sister Zoya. As Valentin works to break Zoya’s defenses and get the truth about her relationship with Zaal, Valentin discovers something new that he has never experience….desire and heartfelt emotion that he has only felt about his sister. Soon Zoya and Valentin will be forced to make some difficult choices but the most challenging will be learning to fully trust in each other and the love that they have together.

There is quite a bit of growth that Valentin goes through here and it gets to the point where he would rather have love than to be a slave for the rest of his life. He hates what he does or what he becomes under the drugs that he is forced to take. And seeing him stand on his own and fight for what he believes is right is really beautiful and heart breaking. The relationship between Valentin and Zoya is not easy in the beginning. I mean, Valentin is being forced by drugs to get information out of Zoya, so it’s not pleasant obviously. But he does change and starts to fight the drugs more.

I’m not only scarred on the outside, Kotyonok; I’m scarred on the inside: my mind, my heart, and my soul…… I am your Tbilisi monster…

I honestly felt that this story was the toughest that I have read so far. Because we see what this couple is really faced with and the odds aren’t in their favor. But we do get some moments with our previous favorite characters such as Luca and Zaal. And this side plot is needed for sure. Luca and Zaal know that danger is coming they just have no clue what form it will take and Zaal has no idea that his beloved sister is still alive or that she is being held prisoner to get to him. And my goodness, once he learns the truth, Zaal really has to face up to certain things on a emotional level.

I knew his life had been as impossible as mine. Knew he wasn’t truly as evil as he seemed. He was just like my Anri and Zaal. Like me. Broken

The development of the plot here was key and Tillie Cole did a fabulous job on taking me on a great adventure of thrills and suspense and danger. I honestly never knew what was going to happen in this book, and these twists really worked me hard. What made this book sound wonderful was the latter part of it. This is where you fall in love with this anti-hero that is Valentin. Seeing what he sacrifices for his Zoya is so heartfelt and real. And seeing him do so much to save his sister, it just about broke my heart. He goes through so much but seeing the way that Zoya cares for him, seeing the ways that she loves him outside the bedroom was priceless. Valentin has never known a kind word or tender touch and Zoya teaches him.

Tillie Cole has done wonders with this series, these books are full of tortured souls and damaged hearts that slowly heal with love and understanding and acceptance. I feel so much emotion when I read her work and this author teaches the reader what unconditional love and forgiveness are all about!! This story will wrap you up and endear you to these beautifully crafted characters in a way that you won’t forget!! UNFORGETTABLE!!

We are different. Me weak and you strong. Me a Georgian and you Russian, but our broken hearts are tired and old. Our spirits are low, though not broken. But our souls, though thoroughly tested and hardened through pain, are resilient. THEY ARE THE SAME.

*Now bring on Valentin’s sister’s book “Riot” I will admit I am kinda nervous about this book because his sister has been forced to be a sex slave but from what I hear the hero is AWESOME!! So I can’t wait for the finale and see Valentin and his sister be reunited and that his sister has never forgotten him.

About Tillie Cole

Amazon & USA Today Best Selling Author, Tillie Cole, is a Northern girl through and through. She originates from a place called Teesside on that little but awesomely sunny (okay I exaggerate) Isle called Great Britain. She was brought up surrounded by her English rose mother -- a farmer's daughter, her crazy Scottish father, a savagely sarcastic sister and a multitude of rescue animals and horses.
Being a scary blend of Scottish and English, Tillie embraces both cultures; her English heritage through her love of HP sauce and freshly made Yorkshire Puddings, and her Scottish which is mostly demonstrated by her frighteningly foul-mouthed episodes of pure rage and her much loved dirty jokes.

Having been born and raised as a Teesside Smoggie, Tillie, at age nineteen, moved forty miles north to the 'Toon', Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, where she attended Newcastle University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts honours degree in Religious Studies. She returned two years later to complete a Post-Graduate Certificate in Teaching High School Social Studies. Tillie, regards Newcastle to be a home from home and enjoyed the Newcastle Geordie way of life for seven 'proper mint' and 'lush' years.

One summers day, after finishing reading her thousandth book on her much loved and treasured Kindle, Tillie turned to her husband and declared, "D'you know, I have a great idea for a story. I could write a book." Several months later, after repeating the same tired line at the close of another completed story, she was scolded by her husband to shut up talking about writing a novel and "just bloody do it!" For the first time in eleven years, Tillie actually took his advice (he is still trying to get over the shock) and immediately set off on a crazy journey, delving deep into her fertile imagination.

Tillie, ever since, has written from the heart. She combines her passion for anything camp and glittery with her love of humour and dark brooding men (most often muscled and tattooed – they’re her weakness!). She also has a serious side (believe it or not!) and loves to immerse herself in the complex study of World Religions, History and Cultural Studies and creates fantasy stories that enable her to thread serious issues and topics into her writing -- yep, there's more to this girl than profanity and sparkles!

After six years of teaching high school Social Studies and following her Professional Rugby Player husband around Europe, they have finally given up their nomadic way of life and settled in Calgary, Alberta where Tillie spends most of her days (and many a late night) lost in a writing euphoria or pursuing a dazzling career as a barrel-racing, tasselled-chap wearing, Stetson-sporting cowgirl... Ye-haw!

Book Review-Sinful Empire by Meghan March

Sinful Empire is a sizzling finale of our couple who come together in no way before. They become true partners against their enemies and learning to fight for the love they share…

In Sinful Empire we have a sensual story that takes you on a ride you won’t expect. Our favorable key players of the story and the trilogy are:

  • Lachlan Mount, our alpha hero, the king of his empire and no one goes against him. But Lachlan will need to face his past in order to embrace his present with the one woman who accepts him unconditionally
  • Keira, our figher of a heroine, she is spunky and smart and finally comes more confident and sure of herself. We see how strong and accepting she really is.

In Sinful Empire  we have a story that immediately starts off where book 2 left off. I don’t want to spoil the trilogy, for those that are currently reading this trilogy here. But basically in the beginnning of Sinful Empire our couple face some reality and almost lose each other. Their lives are put in jeaopardy by an unseen enemy, and both of their health are put in danger and they have to face the fact that they almost lost each other and it impacts them very differently. Our hero faces up to his past with Keira, and basically will give her anything she wants, including complete honesty about his past and who he is and what he is capable of. Then our heroine, realizes how much she loves Lachlan. She never realized until now how much he means to her. And this is where she fights for their relationship. Once she learns everything she “needs” to know about Lachlan’s past, she is determined to be the “queen” that he really needs.

“A King has the most value, but without a queen, he’s a hell of a lot less powerful. Together, they have the best chance of victory…You’ve been the queen from day one. The most powerful piece on the whole fucking board.  “

We see how much more confident she is and what a fighter she becomes. I love the way that she has such a stronger confidence in this book. It became such an endearing quality seeing how much she grows and comes more into herself in this story. Lachlan, is a character that we see way more depth into. We see flashbacks into his childhood and it really makes you understand him in a more intimate level emotionally. It added some unique dynamics especially with the villain who has a personal vendetta and someone no one will expect…I just DAREyou to guess before this person is revealed.

Lachlan Mount lives by his own code, completely unapologetic about his actions, but that doesn’t mean he lacks honorable motives.

I have had such a blast with this trilogy and Sinful Empire was everything that I was expecting and MORE!!It had everything that I was looking for in a story and as the finale was worth the wait and I can’t wait to immerse myself into more of Meghan March’s works. Because The Mount Trilogy was superb and had me on the edge of my seat and curled my toes in those delicious moments I didn’t want to end!!

Lachlan Mount owns me—Body, Heart and Soul

About Meghan March

Meghan March has been known to wear camo face paint and tromp around in woods wearing mud-covered boots, all while sporting a perfect manicure. She’s also impulsive, easily entertained, and absolutely unapologetic about the fact that she loves to read and write smut. Her past lives include slinging auto parts, selling lingerie, making custom jewelry, and practicing corporate law. Writing books about dirty talking alpha males and the strong, sassy women who bring them to their knees is by far the most fabulous job she’s ever had.

Book Review-El Diablo by M. Robinson

In this stunning tale of a dark romance, which brings together the most unlikely pair you ever see in a romance. But two people that both suffer from dark pasts and help each other in finding their happy ever after.

Our key players that make you fall in love quite instantly are:

• Martinez, our dark hero, who is the most feared of all men and leader of a mob family and is also known as the “El Diablo” or the Devil. He has had to learn to love and lose the important parts of himself. But one woman will make him want to fight for love and keep it.
• Lexi, our courageous heroine, a dancer and has grown up being abused in the worst ways.

We have a story that works through your emotions in some of the worst and BEST ways imaginable. I truly couldn’t get enough of this book and man was it difficult at times. These two really worked me through the ringer and yet I wouldn’t have it any other way. What we see is a romance that isn’t light and funny, Its dark and at times twisted but pulls you in and I just didn’t want it to end. I was really swept away by our hero especially in the first third of the book. We really get to see what he goes through. Being raised as the mob boss’s son, losing parts of himself and seeing his closeness to his mother and sister despite what he has been forced to become by his father. Then we see him fall in love, and lose it all with a horrible twist of fate.

I was pulled instantly to his character, seeing how intense his life was and seeing how he couldn’t stop losing the people that meant the most to him or the way he is betrayed in the worst way by the one person he trusted. Then Lexi comes into his life, like a breath of fresh air, and we see him change only for the better. Now it’s not perfect and their relationship is full of drama at times but I was really pulled into their bond. Now our heroine hasn’t exactly had a life of daisies and roses. She has had her own troubles, but what you come to admire about this character is how strong she really is. I mean its like nothing can get her down, no matter what she goes through, she just faces it and finds the “best” part of herself to keep going forward. She stands up to our hero on a constant basis and I enjoyed seeing the way that they come together.

I will admit that this story didn’t turn out the way that I expected, the turn of events that come into play are unexpected and throw the reader a whirlwind but I had a fun time joining them along in their adventure. What sets this book apart from many other dark romances, is the raw emotion that just pours out of this story in such a “real” way. I honestly never knew what was going to happen even on an emotional level. Right when I thought I have Martinez and Lexi figured out….something else would happen to blow everything out of the water of what I expected or knew about these two. Their road isn’t easy and we see them go through years of their life, figuring out what is the most important and how to learn to fight for it and find their happy ever after that they both deserved to have after what they really go through.

What was one of the most important aspects of this story though was the growth these characters suffer through. They definitely have quite a few growing pains, and certain circumstances really throw them a curveball but it was quite some complex dynamics seeing them muddle through these “mountains” and somehow finding their way back to each other when you least expect it. Definitely amazed with the talent of this author and what a story this book punches through. I am a bit overwhelmed in the story that I just read but loved nonetheless.

Overall I found El Diablo to be a stunning story that swept me away into a world I didn’t want to let go of. BREATHTAKINGLY REAL!!
