A brand new story in the Season's Original series from USA Today bestseller, Vivienne Lorret!

As the toast of the ton, Samuel Wortham, Viscount Ellery, should have no trouble finding a wife. Yet each lady he pursues ends up married to another. As a last hope, Sam plans a house party, intending to choose a bride from one of his guests. But when he encounters a raven-haired beauty by his estate’s pond, he’s captivated by her charm and desperate to see her again.

A quiet trip to the country is just what Gemma Desmond needs to take her mind off marriage. After all, as the daughter of a notorious criminal, her prospects seem quite grim. The last thing she expects is a chance meeting with a handsome lord and an invitation to his lavish house party. Ellery is everything she hoped for in a husband. But can she ever escape the stigma of her father’s misdeeds?

When a pair of conniving debutantes frame her for theft, Gemma has her answer. Unwilling to let her scandalous reputation taint the kind, honorable man she adores, she flees. Yet Ellery isn’t about to give her up. He might be just another viscount in love, but he refuses to let this potential bride slip through his fingers…

Just Another Viscount In Love is a short and sweet romance that made me smile and left me feeling fully satisfied and so joyful. This was a shorter book, so obviously it did have the normal a bit rushed feel to it as all novellas tend to feel like. But quite honestly, it totally worked for this story and this couple. I haven’t had a chance to read the previous three books in the series, but I was definitely more than fine reading this one as a stand alone.

The story set off when our heroine, Gemma Desmond has gone to the country with her aunt to escape a scandal that her father created who is rumored to be a thief and who kept her prisoner for a time. Gemma is looking for some peace and quiet away from town and society. While attempting to clean a stain from her gown, she is caught tickling a fish by a stranger, a man who is compelling and kind. She soon learns that he is none other than Samuel Wortham, the Viscount Ellery. When he invites her and her aunt to his estate for a country house party, a big part of her wants to say no because she doesn’t want to taint Samuel with the scandal she is hunted by. But Samuel isn’t shy, and he wants Gemma for his own. He knows that there is something more to Gemma, he sees a kind and gentle young woman who is being haunted by something or someone.

This romance was beyond tender and sweet and I was definitely in the mood for it, and it definitely worked for me in every way. There is one conflict of course but it’s not a major part of the story. I really enjoyed seeing these two come together, they are surrounded by family members that have found love and encourage a love match. Which was quite refreshing especially in a regency. There was such a soft and poignant tone to this book that I just craved towards and couldn’t get enough. And left me wanting to try the other books in the series and SOON.

Awww, this looks so sweet. I totally have to read it. And it will be a great introduction to Vivienne Lorret for me. But, I do have a question. Is she literally tickling a fish? Is that possible? I’ve never heard that expression before. πŸ™‚
