Mid-Year Book Freak Out Tag 2022

Best book(s) you have read so far?

I couldn’t just pick one of my favorites especially as I am over 200 books read so far, and I have read a TON of great books so far this year. I am really lucky in that. These were all five-star reads and books I could do a re-read of one day and also had to buy in print because I loved them so much!

Shadow Fires by Christine Feehan-this is a mafia romance, and it was so well done. I love how Feehan is really growing in her writing and getting more edgier. As you all know how much I love an edgy paranormal, and she really shines in this book. Its probably one of my favorites from this author even (that is saying a LOT considering how many books she has written and the top 90% of them have been either 4 or 5-star ratings loll)

Brilliance Trilogy by Lisa Renee Jones- This is the most captivating and awe-inspiring trilogy this author has penned in my book. I really connected with this pair, especially with their love of the violin and of classical music

Sea of Ruin This is a dark historical romance so know that going into it but it’s also the most thrilling and astonishing book this author has written and one of the most authentic pirate romances you will ever read! If you love the old-school pirate romances, this book is going to be a win for you!

The Simple Wild- this book is pure magic! There is nothing more I can see about how charming and endearing this one turned out to be for me. One of the top books of the year and it will make you want to move to Alaska!

Honor-I wish I could explain what this book did for me! I haven’t read many books by this author but out of the ones that I have read….this book wins hands down!! Its an edgy contemporary, diverse, and so fantastic in seeing two people fight for each other in their own way.

Tempt Me–This whole series should be read in a row so you can see the depth and growth of their relationship but so superb in every way and completely addictive!

There Are No Saints-This is a duo series and the BEST books that this author has ever written! If you like dark romance, and assassins and artists—-you need to pick these up first if you want to try this author out as they aren’t connected to her other books.

Here With Me-I absolutely adored this romantic suspense and it’s becoming my favorite books by this author and one of the best enemies to lovers I have ever read!

Best Sequel You Have Read so far in 2022?

These are all the best sequels that I have been able to pick up that continued the series in such a brilliant beautiful way that became so heartwarming. I had so many to choose from so it was hard to choose which ones I loved the most but these would be my top picks of the year.

New Release you haven’t read but want to?

I am not sure why I haven’t read this one yet but its one of my most anticipated releases and I really need to read it although I hear its super emotional!

Most Anticipated Release for second half of 2022?

So excited for what we have to look forward to and these are just trad pub books (self-pub books it’s more difficult as most authors publish those within weeks of notification)

Biggest disappointment?

I wanted so much to love this book, as I heard so many good things about this one but unfortunately this book I just couldn’t get into it and I gave it till 60% before I had to DNF it. It had great potential but just didn’t engage me and I need writing to pull me into the story.

biggest surprise?

I cant explain how much this book surprised me in how much I loved it. I don’t do well with super hyped books and this book is SO hyped, so imagine my surprise in that I actually LOVED it and would make it to my top favorite romanes:??!! Yeah I didn’t expect that would happen haha

New Favorite Author?

There are some shocking authors that I have fallen in love with:

Maggie Cole

Emily Mcintire

K.A. Tucker

Beth Kery

Kandi Steiner

Ana Huang

Tara Sue Me

Newest fictional crush

Dante from Bloody Heart by Sophie Lark—-A sexy cowboy who knows how to use a riding crop in certain sexy situations

Newest Favorite Character

Jonah-The Simple Wild by K.A. Tucker

Lachlan Adair-Here With Me by Samantha Young

Boris from Broken Fighter by Maggie Cole

Spider from Brutal Vows by J.T. Geissinger

Cullen Carmichael from Playboy by Katy Evans

Books that made you cry?

All of these tore through my emotions in such a memorable way and I loved it!! These books were so heartfelt and real and powerful in the emotion they were able to evoke (I am not a typical crier in books)

Books that made you happy?

When it comes to books that make me happy are books that finish off that leave me smiling and content and all of these delivered in such a satisfying way for me!!!

Favorite Book to movie adaptation you’ve seen this year?

I have only watched a few things this year, I have really taken some time away from movies and TV, but I would say rewatching Lord of the Rings

favorite post you’ve written this year?

How to read more books-tips and tricks

most beautiful book you bought this year?

I did just buy the physical book but I also have it on kindle!! The cover is breathtaking and I love how it looks on my shelf.

What books do you really need to read by the end of this year?

I honestly don’t really have a big group of books that I NEED to read necessarily, but I do have a list of books that I am in the middle of a series that I am working on currently. My biggest goals are working through KA backlist, working on the Submissive series by Tara Sue Me, building up my reading of Meghan Quinn, Jennifer Ryan’s backlist, planning on more of Larissa Ione’s books as I really love her badass style of paranormal/fantasy books, and working through the avon historical romantic treasure lines.

let me know in the comments below if you have read any of these books and what you thought of them! What is your favorite 2022 so far this year? Which book turned out to be your biggest disappointment? I would love to know!

My favorite for 2022 is either Nettle & Bone or Juniper & Thorn. It looks like we are both eager to read a few books this year, like the new Ilona Andrews and Eclipse the Moon. I hope the second half of the year is a good one for you.

I was also surprised by the Simple Wild. I didn’t expect the story to be that touching and emotional. Such a good book! And That Forever Girl – the best of the series if you ask me

I was kind of the same about The Simple Wild. I didn’t expect to adore it as much as I did for some reason.
