May 2022: Monthly Recap

by | May 31, 2022 | At A Glance | 7 comments

May was such a great month for me, especially for reading and books, but boy did it fly by so quickly. My health issues are so much better and it feels so nice to be able to focus on books and blogging so much more. I have been working hard this month to be more consistent and I really have enjoyed all the books that I have been able to read. There were some fun readathons so I hope you all were able to have fun with those. I have been enjoying working from home, and its been helping my blood pressure so much, as I am much more relaxed at home. But my reading this month has been better than anything I have had in what seems like forever and it has felt so nice to be able to read so many great books and SO many great treasures! It was amazing how much I was able to read and I still can’t believe how much I was able to get read. The highlights of the month are that my brother got engaged ( trust me it’s a miracle haha) and I got a raise at work which is nice

Come hell or high water, the Men of Haven always ride or die for one of their own. Follow the brothers as they come together once again in the long-awaited seventh book in Rhenna Morgan’s Men of Haven series.

The last person Callie Moore is prepared to see when she shows up for a job interview is Danny Parker, the guy who witnessed her at her worst and gave her an ultimatum: get clean or don’t ever ask for help again. It’s been years since then, and Callie’s been through hell, but she’s finally doing the work to change her life. That doesn’t mean she couldn’t use the job. And it doesn’t mean her troubled past is completely behind her, either.

When his best friend’s sister-in-law walks in looking for a job and a second—or is it third—chance, Danny isn’t so sure he’s willing to risk it. Even if he does desperately need the help at his custom car shop.

Letting Callie back into his life opens Danny’s eyes, and heart, to the woman she is now—and the man he wants to become. If anyone has a problem with that, too bad. Including his skeptical Haven brothers. But when a dangerous part of the life Callie’s left behind comes to town, seeking revenge, the family will have to join together to save her—as well as the innocent Haven life caught in the cross fire.

This book was such an amazing read, I have waited over two years for this story and it was definitely worth the wait!! It was such a special romance and such a perfect story of redemption and healing!

City girl Calla Fletcher attempts to reconnect with her estranged father, and unwittingly finds herself torn between her desire to return to the bustle of Toronto and a budding relationship with a rugged Alaskan pilot in this masterful new romance from acclaimed author K.A. Tucker.

Calla Fletcher was two when her mother took her and fled the Alaskan wild, unable to handle the isolation of the extreme, rural lifestyle, leaving behind Calla’s father, Wren Fletcher, in the process. Calla never looked back, and at twenty-six, a busy life in Toronto is all she knows. But when her father reaches out to inform her that his days are numbered, Calla knows that it’s time to make the long trip back to the remote frontier town where she was born.

She braves the roaming wildlife, the odd daylight hours, the exorbitant prices, and even the occasional—dear God—outhouse, all for the chance to connect with her father: a man who, despite his many faults, she can’t help but care for. While she struggles to adjust to this new subarctic environment, Jonah—the quiet, brooding, and proud Alaskan pilot who keeps her father’s charter plane company operational—can’t imagine calling anywhere else home. And he’s clearly waiting with one hand on the throttle to fly this city girl back to where she belongs, convinced that she’s too pampered to handle the wild.

Jonah is probably right, but Calla is determined to prove him wrong. As time passes, she unexpectedly finds herself forming a bond with the burly pilot. As his undercurrent of disapproval dwindles, it’s replaced by friendship—or perhaps something deeper? But Calla is not in Alaska to stay and Jonah will never leave. It would be foolish of her to kindle a romance, to take the same path her parents tried—and failed at—years ago.

It’s a simple truth that turns out to be not so simple after all.

This book was so beautiful and is going to make my list of top reads of the year, that is how fantastic it was. The chemistry, the angst, the character journey—-it was an Alaskan gem!!!

For Regan Penhaligon, there’s no better place to run to than the exclusive Ardnoch Estate in the remote Scottish Highlands. Her impulsive behavior has finally caught up with her and Regan’s visit with her sister, Robyn, is an opportunity to hide from someone who has grown dangerously obsessed with her.

Determined to make amends for her mistakes, Regan plans to repair her relationship with Robyn by staying close. And when an offer of help comes from Thane Adair, Regan gratefully accepts.

Widower, Thane, needs a new nanny housekeeper for his two young children and when they bond with Regan Penhaligon, he offers her the job. But as the weeks pass and the complex American reveals who she really is, Thane struggles with his growing attraction to her.

Regan never expected to feel so intensely for Thane, but she can’t deny her passion for him or her love for his children. When someone from Thane’s past threatens his family, Regan wants to be his pillar of support. However, his continued inability to trust her might just destroy their chance at future happiness… and the person who drove Regan to Ardnoch might snuff out her chance for any future at all.

This romantic suspense was simply superb and had everything I could have hoped for and more! The narration was done just right, it had a great balance of humor and Scottish culture and lots of great romance with a splice of danger to keep you on edge.

haha oh Sophie its possbile, I know ppl that read 60-70 a month. This month I was listening to three audiobooks a week, plus physically reading a book a day, and then on my days off reading 2 books a day (the key to this is I have NO social life haha I literally just work, sleep, eat, and read) when I first started blogging I was actually reading 3 books a day, so its possible to read this much, it just depends on your priorities and what takes up most of your time. Since I don’t do much beside reading in my spare time and I make use of audiobooks a lot, that is how I can read this amount haha
