Intimidating Romances That Terrify Me but…..Someday

by | Aug 29, 2022 | Tea and Biscuits Discussions | 14 comments

So today I want to share some of the most intimidating book that have kept me from reading them for quite a while here. I will say that many of these books I eventually plan on getting to but there are various reasons on why I have yet to pick up these books. But I saw this idea on a booktube channel and I thought it would be fun to share some of those books that I find so intimidating.

This is a series that one is massive and is so intimidating. Even with the TV show out, these books haven’t interested me to even try because they are huge and also I know some of the endings and that really doesn’t interest me. However, I know it is so well loved so I know I will eventually get to it because it is so well loved.

This is a book that I have been meaning to read and I did recently buy this in print, so I do plan on reading this. But these books are so well loved and you will see this one on every top romance list on Goodreads that you can think of haha I think the drama and angst is what intimidates me the most with it though.

I swear everyone loves this book and I am so terrified to read it. One its so hyped so that alone scares me and honestly the cover turns me off. I know everyone seems to love it. I am not sure when I will read this, right now, I don’t plan on it but maybe down the road I might be open to it.

This author….*sigh* is so POPULAR and her books have been so well known since I started blogging. That is how long this book has been on my TBR haha I do plan on trying it out before the end of the year. Its just very daunting and intimidating.

This is YA (or I am pretty sure it is) but this book was a big deal when it came out, and I was really drawn to the set up of the story and the romance. I haven’t read it, I really need to be in the mood to read YA though.

I know what y’all are going to say about this one. This is probably one of the most well loved contemporary romances, and I am probably the only romance reader that I haven’t read. I do plan on reading this before the end of the year, I have it on both ebook and physical book.

This is probably the one book from this author that I am the most terrified to read. I just have heard the most mixed reviews on it. I am not sure if this book is for me to be honest, so I am just waiting on when I will be in the right frame of wanting to take a risk on a book lol

This is a fantasy series with a romance that is in the backdrop of the series, I do have the first book on my shelf but I am pretty intimidated about these books. I know many readers enjoy this series so while I plan on reading it, I really don’t know when that will be.

This is a book I have had on my TBR for the longest time. this book came out, maybe a decade ago but was so popular and so loved. I do plan on reading this one, as I do love a good royal romance, I just never respond well to hyped books always so I want to wait until I am in the right mood.

LOL! When I read the title of the post my first thought was “Outlander.” It’s SOOOOOO huge and the series is so long. Also for me is the IN DEATH series because it is over 50 books at this point.

I do read Mercy – my biggest advice there is be sure to follow the reading order on the author’s website because the Alpha and Omega books are in the same world and should be read in order. It’s a gripping UF, but there are some issues that can turn some off. I also have read all of Hazelwood’s books. They are light and cute and filled with science-geek stuff. I loved this one a lot, but I get what you mean. If it doesn’t seem like something you’d like – just skip it. There are so many other books out there!

The title made me think these were going to be dark romance or something like that. Lol

I haven’t read any of these.

Hyped books are always so intimidating.. especially The love hypothesis as there doesn’t seem to have a middle 😅 you either really love it, or you hate it. I’m a part of the first party ahah — might you find courage to tackle it.. or not, that’s fine too!

I read The Love Hypothesis before it was hyped. Thankfully, I had an ARC so by early August I had read it and I loved it so so much! It’s actually good. It’s truly worth the hype for sure. For Credence, READ IT!! If you have doubts or concerns, just message me on Insta! Archer’s Voice is amazing! I loved it so much 😭

Archer’s Voice and The Love Hypothesis are must reads. They were just really good. Outlander is one I have decided to take off my TBR because of the size of the book and the series. I also read Credence and it isn’t one that I would say I loved or hated. I guess I’m indifferent to it?

I loved Archer, Hush Hush, Beautiful Disaster and the Love Hypothesis. Credence…wasn’t for me 😉

I can’t say I’ve read any of them. I understand having books that you think that someday you’d like to get to.

I hope to read Archer’s Voice soon. As for Outlander, I am not sure when I will get to it. Strangely enough I own most of the books in the series.

You must read the Mercy Thompson series! The audiobooks are awesome if you wanted to go that route. I haven’t finished the Outlander series but I have read the first 5 books twice. They are long but wonderful. I think those audiobooks are also pretty amazing. I expected to love The Love Hypothesis as much as everyone else but I ended up thinking that it was good but not as good as everyone seems to think.

I only read the first instalment in the Mercy Thompson series, but I can tell you that I was a bit intimidated by it as well up until I started reading it. You should give it a go, I think you could enjoy it 🙂 Also, Outlander is one of the series I keep postponing, but I really want to try because I’m so intrigued by it!

I actually DNFed Outlander, but not because the story wasn’t good. The dialect was just too much work to read. Loved Beautiful Disaster and The Love Hypothesis. I think you have to really enjoy certain kinds of characters for that. Beautiful Disaster is a bit older, super alpha hero. Hazelwood writes nerdy, neurotic, quirky heroines. I am good these things and enjoyed these books. The Royal We was wonderful. If you like royals, I think it will be a good one for you. I bought Archer’s Voice a long time ago. I never to seem to get to it, though many rave about it. Maybe we will both read that one soon

The Outlander series is quite an undertaking. I was obsessed with the series many years ago but finally fell away from it. It’s hard to stay invested when there are years in between books! A Beautiful Disaster was sooo angsty. The characters drove me crazy but I mostly enjoyed it. Archer’s Voice is a forever favorite. I have so much love for that one. Credence gets a lot of mixed reviews. I know it’s not for everyone but I loved it. Lots of good options here! 🙂

I recently tried to reread Beautiful Disaster. I remember loving it when I first started reading romance but now I just couldn’t deal with the hero’s point of view, so I didn’t read past first few chapters. Maybe someday I’ll give it another try.

I loved Hush Hush series back in like 2009? But now I think it should’ve been just a standalone. I think the sequels were unnecessary but I do love Patch.

I’ve not read Archer’s Voice either. I have a copy of the Love Hypothesis from the library and plan to read it soon but I’m nervous because of the hype. Now, as far as YA series go, Hush, Hush is one of my favorties.
