About The Book

USA Today bestselling author Meghan Quinn brings more humor and heart with the fourth novel of her Getting Lucky series: a story about breaking curses and finally finding that swoony feeling.

I’m single . . . so single it’s painful.

Yup, ladies, Brig Knightly–that’s me–is still a lonely bachelor, stumbling through the streets of Port Snow, looking for the girl he’s supposed to end up with.

That is until my brother, Rogan, presents me with the opportunity of a lifetime. The Summer of Love, a secret pen pal program in Port Snow is looking for applicants and I’m the perfect fit.

I couldn’t sign up fast enough.

I found myself quickly falling in love with a pair of red lips at the bottom of a letter. Just like in the movies . . .

Life could not have been better, that was until I started hanging out with Ruth Barber. Starting a new business right next to my shop, I found myself gravitating toward her. Her smile, her humor . . . her tea sandwiches.

My attraction for Ruth came in full force, leaving me dazed, confused, and *ahem* excited.

As new feelings for two women come to a screeching halt, I have to figure out who to choose. But when I discover my pen pal is Ruth, it might be too late.

All I want in life is to experience that swoony feeling . . . but I think I might have just missed my chance.

My Review

First Impressions

That Swoony Feeling is the MOST anticipated book of the series for me personally. There is something about the brother Brig that I have been so eager to read, and also the premise of the story really intrigued me because I am so the heroine, I related to her so much. I really loved the idea of a heroine pining for the hero and the hero being so BLIND to it all and when I say blind I mean completely clueless so much that I wonder if he is a blonde haha That Swoony Feeling was such an entertaining read and I had a blast with this finale, it may not be my favorite as I think books 1 & 2 get the win, however, this is a close match to them. I was really drawn to the family shenanigans in this addition and my goodness I am so sad that I have to say goodbye to this wondrous family because they are such a hoot and just warmed my heart. I was so curious to see how Meghan Quinn would develop this story and even though it wasn’t perfect for me, it definitely warmed my heart!!

smooth . . . surprising. Dreamy and starry-eyed, she carries hope in her being, a promise for her next adventure. I know that feeling. I’ve seen the same look when I’ve woken up and gotten ready in the morning, my face reflecting the same enthusiasm.

Summary

Brig Knightley is the last of the brothers to be single and unattached and he is so depressed that the romantic of them all, has yet to find love and still believes that the curse can never be broken for him. Until he learns of a pen pal writing program that matches him with this sexy sassy girl who he feels he is falling hard for. While at the same time, he is starting to get other feelings for the girl next door to his business…Ruthie. Ruth Barber runs a coffee shop and is beginning renovations for a pastry and tea shop which has been her dream. Ruthie is on her own, her parents have passed, and she is quiet and shy but hides a sassy mouth and humor. And she has been pining for Brig since high school, a man that barely notices her. But as they start to build a friendship, and she carries on a pen pal endeavor with him, trying to give him the most obvious hints that she is the girl that is writing to him, and still clueless, Ruthie wonders how much longer she can take the frustration and wanting to reveal the truth to Brig and put her heart out there for him to either claim or reject…

Just keep reminding yourself that when doubt starts to creep in. When fear takes hold of your heart and you stumble, just remember: you’ll never develop your dreams into a reality without trying. You have to try first.

What I Loved

That Swoony Feeling was such a charming story and I fell so hard for this one. There was something so sweet about this one. I didn’t know what to expect to find in Brig’s book but I was beyond captivated by this one and I really wanted them to be with each other!! Like man the slow burn on this book almost killed me haha I just wanted the truth to be revealed and for Brig to realize what a clueless idiot he was being. There is a great foundation of friendship that is built between the two here and I was so curious to see where it would lead in the end. I loved the way that they worked together in renovating for her business and how they would start running together (as an exercise fan, I LOVED them connecting over exercise) and it was so hilarious to see all the obvious hints that Ruthie would send Brig his way and HE had no idea his pen pal and Ruthie was the same girl. His family all knew of course and I could just see how hard it was for them to keep so silent haha I also really enjoyed all the foreplay that Ruthie would do to Brig, trying to get him to really shine for her. While at the same time, my heart broke for her as well because she wanted to be seen so much by him and he was so blind to it. But I will say my favorite moment is when everything is revealed to Brig and Ruthie is a powerhouse in that reveal and it is well worth the build-up that happens within the story.

You know what I mean. I can’t remember the last time I was in a serious relationship. All I want is to love someone, spoil them, make them mine. I want to start a family, move out of the apartment above my garage, and buy a house in the woods somewhere where my kids can have the kind of childhood we had. And this”—I point to the whoopie pies and letter—“this might be it. This might be how I finally find love. This girl, my pen pal.” A girl who makes me whoopie pies as a thank you. Who believes Port Snow is breathtaking.

What I Struggled With

I felt like it had times were drawn out too much and we hardly got any sexy time between these two and I really wanted to see more couple page time and would have liked the ending to have lasted a bit longer to see them together more as a couple.

Overall View

I found That Swoony Feeling to be a heart-wrenching but also balanced out with a blast of humor and small-town charm that won my heart quickly. Its a story that will be beyond memorable for the reader and a true jewel of delight and heart!

Forgive, knowing that your man will often mess things up, simply because he’s a man. Love, knowing that the man who deserves you will protect your heart and be able to say he’s sorry.

About Meghan

When I was in high school I occasionally read books but was consumed by other teenage things so I didn’t take the time to appreciate a good book on a cloudy day, wrapped up in a blanket on the couch. It wasn’t until I received a Kindle for Christmas one year that my world completely flipped upside down. When looking for books I came across the Contemporary Romance genre and was sold and I haven’t turned back since.

You can either find my head buried in my Kindle, listening to inspiring heart ripping music or typing away on the computer twisting and turning the lives of my characters while driving my readers crazy with anticipation.

I currently reside in beautiful Colorado Springs where the sun is always shining and there is a trail waiting to be hiked on every corner. I share a lovely and warm home with the love of my life and my five, four-legged children.

Brig could be a bit ridiculous at times and I found myself rolling my eyes at him even while I was laughing. But I loved seeing he and Ruthie finally get together. 🙂

It’s funny when a hero is that clueless.

Now, that’s a different set up. Ruthie sounds like a rockstar, but his cluelessness sounds funny.
