Anthropologist Jillian Ramsay's career has taken a turn south.

Concerned that technology is about to chase mythological creatures out into the open (how long can Sasquatch stay hidden from Google maps?), the League for Interspecies Cooperation is sending Jillian to Louisiana on a fact-finding mission. While the League hopes to hold on to secrecy for a little bit longer, they're preparing for the worst in terms of human reactions. They need a plan, so they look to Mystic Bayou, a tiny town hidden in the swamp where humans and supernatural residents have been living in harmony for generations. Mermaids and gator shifters swim in the bayou. Spirit bottles light the front porches after twilight. Dragons light the fires under crayfish pots.

Jillian's first assignment for the League could be her last. Mystic Bayou is wary of outsiders, and she has difficulty getting locals to talk to her. And she can't get the get gruff town sheriff, Bael Boone, off of her back or out of her mind. Bael is the finest male specimen she's seen in a long time, even though he might not be human. Soon their flirtation is hotter than a dragon's breath, which Bael just might turn out to be....

How To Date Your Dragon is a fantabulous paranormal adventure that takes you to the sexy culture of the bayou, where various shifter species live in harmony and a killer on the loose and an enthralling tale between a dragon and a human researcher….

A couple days ago I saw this book in the featured Audible Romance Package titles, and i realized that I hadn’t picked up Molly Harper in quite a while and decided that trying one of her audiobooks would be a refreshing treat and I am SO glad that I acted on my instinct and grabbed this book because WOWZERS!! I mean seriously, I had such a blast with this book. I am not saying that this is the best book ever written but boy this book took me through so much and I LOVED every second of it. Honestly, I just couldn’t put this book down, and doubled my workouts so I could just listen LONGER. It just made me so happy from beginning to end and I SO didn’t want it to end. Dang it, and then I learn that this is a new series and I have to WAIT for book two—-pure torture Molly Harper…..horrible torment!

Now let’s get starting on what makes this book so amazing. Our feisty and tempting key players in this tale are :

  • Jillian Ramsay, our fun heroine, is an anthropologist, and never imagined why the board of directors would call her on such an important mission. She is smart, funny, feisty but sweet and holds her ground.
  • Bael Boone, our sexy dragon, is the sheriff of the mystic bayou, he is stubborn, grumpy but has a soft underbelly. He is secretive but protective of the town he protects and his horde of gold.

So this book begins when Jillian, is about ready to leave for her mission to South America to study the sex-crazed dolphins when her boss gets injured by a unicorn and she will have to take over his job and his upcoming research project to the Bayou. Jillian has no idea why they would pick her up for the job, and it’s her first assignment and is totally outside her realm. But the Bayou is very eager to have someone from the League for Interspecies Cooperation. With the League getting ready to reveal to the world the existence of shifters that live among humans. The mystic bayou in Louisianna has somehow managed to have a town of humans and shifters that work and play together in harmony. And the League needs to know how they go about it. So Jillian heads down the middle of nowhere with barely any cell coverage and a town where not everyone is happy to have a stranger. She first meets with the mayor of the town, a super friendly and affection bear shifter, who shows her where she will be living and will be escorting her to events to introduce her to other people in the town. Which is when she meets the grumpy sheriff of the town Bael. As Jillian begins with her study, soon newly changed humans to shifters are being murdered, and it all starts around the time that Jillian enters the town. Despite her struggles with her research study, she begins to find her time with a sexy Bael worth more than the effort, a dragon shifter who makes love to her on his gold treasure and treats her so gently, but will Bael and Jillian be able to find the murderer before he kills again???

There were so many fun aspects of this story, to be honest, and I honestly had a blast listening to this story. First off, the bayou culture was so fascinating that I found myself listening to New Orleans style jazz, looking up Cajun recipes and researching my own trip to the Bayou. Molly Harper did a fantastic job with the setting, she just makes you yearn to be seeing this in reality. I also found the small town so fascinating here. What was most fun was the shifter species. From river nymphs, dragons, alligators to bears and werewolves and so many more. There is such a strong bond that these members of this community have together. And I just fell in love with so many side characters especially the Mayor and his mother. They just had me grinning from ear to ear so charming, cuddly and sweet.

Now for the really good part….the ROMANCE!! This was packed with just about everything I look for in a love story and Molly Harper just socker punched me with this book. Because honestly I didn’t see this one coming and it just got better and better with each hour of listening. At first, Jillian and Bael have some great chemistry and they like to argue…a LOT and boy it’s so fun to see them banter back and forth. But their relationship takes a new turn when the first body turns up and Jillian discover it and they become so much closer to each other. Bael may be a dragon shifter but Jillian has no idea what he plans for her, especially in showing her his horde of gold. Now in this book, we see that Dragons are REALLY protective of their gold, but I just wanted to *sigh* in these sweet scenes that develop between Bael and Jillian and especially the love scene on his gold. One of the best sex scenes I have read in a long while. Because even though it’s not super steamy the way its written is so sensual yet tender. I honestly can’t stress enough how much I truly adored this book with the murder mystery, the mystic bayou and its charming town and the sizzling love story that flairs to life!!! One of the best books I have read in 2018 so far and satisfied every romantic bone…..A DELIGHTFUL HOARD OF GOLD TO TREASURE!

This sounds like a lot of fun, Renee. I’ve only listened to one book from Harper! *gasp* How can that be?!? I do think I’ll continue her Jane Jameson series first though since this book was #1 in the series. I’m not so good with the waiting…or just end up forgetting about it. Ha!
