Bound by honor and by love…
That’s a Montana Man
Ford Kendrick has often dreamed of the day that Jamie Keller would come home to Montana. After high school, she needed to leave—and he, duty-bound to rescue his family’s ranch, pushed her to go. The Army made Jamie a hero, but Ford still sees the gorgeous, loving woman who lit up his whole world.
Every day since she left, Jamie has longed for Ford. One glimpse confirms it: the sexy, dangerous-looking cowboy left a hole in her heart that nothing else can fill. Yet the battle scars she bears—inside and out—won’t let her trust anyone enough to get close.
Ford wants to bring Jamie back to the life they dreamed of building. But locked somewhere in her memories is a dark truth that threatens her safety. It’s a battle Ford won’t let her fight alone, not when he’s determined to keep her by his side, now and always…

Summary

Jamie Keller and Ford Kendrick were young and in love and just waiting for the right time to leave their hometown and start somewhere fresh and their new life together. But then Ford had his love for his family who needed him and he knew he couldn’t leave now. Jamie he knew needed to leave especially away from her toxic mother who demeaned her constantly. He let her go and he regretted it. Now its been years and Jamie has returned, only his ‘firefly’ is gone and in her place a woman so lost and tortured it kills him. He knows he must find a way to find her again even just to make her smile and laugh and find joy in life. Jamie left the town and never looked back and her only regret was losing Ford and she never forgot him. But when her convoy was attacked and so many of her friends were killed, but her mind and her body were damaged and she doesn’t know how she can even live day to day. But then Ford comes back in her life, forcing her to live, just one day at a time, and before she realizes it she is starting to feel more free and like her old self than ever before. But her past and a enemy she doesn’t see coming seeks to ruin her happiness…

Plot and Story Line

Another fabulous addition to a wonderful and heartwarming series. Jennifer Ryan did such a tremendous job with this one and I really liked seeing the whole military PTSD side to the story. We have our heroine who has not had a good time of it in her life. She has a sweet and gentle spirit. In the beginning, we see what she was like before she joined the military. Even though she suffers from lack of self esteem. Her mother is quite horrid and demeans her all the time. But her relationship with Ford is what keeps her grounded. But then we see that Ford has to make a difficult choice, part of it due to his loyalty and love for his family who needs him to stay. But he also knows that Jamie can’t stay and that it isn’t the right time for them. Now Jamie is back and not at all like the girl he fell in love with. Jamie has suffered a horrific attack, all but one of her friends were killed. She suffered three bullet wounds and intense scarring on her back from being burned. She is suffering from PTSD, and tends to not always not reality from dreams of the attack. But then this is what made me fall in love with the story…our hero is just amazing here. I honestly fell in love with him so hard. He is so wonderful with Jamie. He is patient, understanding and kind. Jamie has a bit of a hard shell at times, but he doesn’t let it bother him because he knows its not his Jamie. We see how Jamie starts to come back into herself, working along side with Ford on his ranch and slowly spending time with people and seeing Jamie and Ford reconnect was quite heartwarming and sweet.

Lovely review! I’m so looking forward to this and might just have to move it up on my TBR. LOL! Jennifer Ryan creates really great characters and it’s interesting with the twist that the heroine is the one with the problems (like PTSD) to overcome.

Jennifer Ryan creates the most endearing characters and I love how she handles trauma her characters go through.

This sounds like an intense read, Renee, but a good one. I like seeing an author do PTSD well because it’s a real thing and it’s awful how people suffer. I’m glad Jamie and Ford found their way back to one another. 🙂 I keep meaning to start this series – have the first one – and I’m thinking I need to get on it. 🙂

oh it is Brandee. She handled the PTSD very very well in this. You really need to pick up book one—these books are so well written and very emotional.

I haven’t read anything by her, but I’ve heard good things overall about her writing. I already feel for poor Jamie. I can’t even imagine what she must be feeling throughout the book. I’m glad she has Ford! I’m glad you enjoyed this one! 🙂
    Lovely review!
