Nancy Scanlon continues the timebending saga she began with The Winter Laird, pulling heroes and villains alike through the portals of time to help save their futures and find their truest loves.
A twist of fate has left Aidan MacWilliam, younger brother of a medieval Irish laird, trapped in the future. Though he’s become a successful entrepreneur in the twenty-first century, Aidan still can’t banish thoughts of the world he left behind. In search of distraction, he heads to New York to scout a publicity manager for his cousin’s matchmaking firm, Celtic Connections.
Emmaline Perkins is the perfect candidate. A PR expert and closet medievalist, Emma has always put work before her social life. When her ex-fiancé resurfaces and threatens her livelihood, her home, and ultimately her safety, a new client proposes an offer she can’t refuse – a job, travel, and security.
As they fall for each other, Emma struggles to keep her professional and personal lives separate, and Aidan’s determined to meld them together. When it’s clear Emma’s ex will stop at nothing to claim her, Aidan realizes that the question is not where she’ll be safe, but when…

Summary

Aidan MacWilliam, is trapped in the future and is eager to return home. He has accumulated business interests and wealth. He heads to New York to find a PR expert for his cousin Colin. Emmaline Perkins, has a secret love for anything medieval and she has talents in PR. But when her ex fiancee gets out of prison, her life spins out of control. He takes all of her money, causes horrid gossip and rumor through the scandal sheets to ruin her career, and her only safety next is Aidan. Who offers her a prestigious job offer, and she is left with little choice. But even though she wants to keep her relationship with Aidan a professional one, there is a chemistry between herself and Aidan. Her ideas of life change however when her life is threatened by her ex, and she is thrown into a whirl of time and space and taken back to medieval Ireland. But will Aidan and Emma find their happily ever after, or be separated by time forever?

Plot and Story Line

An Enchanted Spring is the second book in this series, and we get Aidan’s book. And boy did have a fun time with this one. I alwas liked Aidan in the first book, so I was very eager to read his story. I love a good time travel romance, and Nancy Scanlon did a fantastic job with the plot. I loved seeing this pair have moments in both time periods. In the beginning, their relationship is full of chemistry but there is still a boundary between them, mostly because Emmaline, has set it there. She doesn’t know what to think of her connection to Aidan, but she has been betrayed in the past, and is uneasy to begin another relationship with a man she is unsure of. However their relationship begins to change when they have to take a certain course of action to protect Emmaline from her ex even if that means traveling back in time. Now I have to say that this is the moment in the book that really did it for me. We see the true nature of Aidan. In the modern era, he hides a part of himself so he can be the perfect businessman. However, Emmaline even senses that he is withholding a part of himself from her. Aidan is NOT a modern man in any sense of the word. He is a medieval Irish warrior, and is bold as brass when it comes to going after what he wants. We see some fun moments, and thrills with a tournament scene that is the best part of the story, but it also solidifies the relationship that these two have with each other.

Sometimes, when your soul finds it’s mate, it lets out a great sigh, and with it, you fall

I do want to point out that there is some emotional drama toward the end that seriously had me in tears—-actually I was practically sobbing, and this is what makes Scanlon a pure talent. She twists out certain emotions for the reader, but these two do find a HEA. I do want to mention the heat of the story. It is fairly light, mostly just kissing and fondling. But I have been okay with that, since I read romance for the love story. It was refreshing, to read a author that focuses on the emotion more than the sex. But wow can she portray a great kissing scene or two!! Like honestly, I wanted to grab the next handsome stranger and receive such toe curling kisses. Another aspect I truly adored, was the history and culture of the medieval Irish. I don’t know much, since not many authors explore this setting. But many different moments in the book, had me eager to buy Irish fables and tales and I loved how she cultivates a historical interest in the reader that you want to know more about this rich culture.

The Cover

WHAT a cover…I just love it!! I really like the tone of colors in it, has a nice spring earthy feel to it, with the background of the Irish cliffs, and man I love a sexy man with a sword. Look at all that delicious muscle. I just want to pet him. hehe

Overall View

A superbly written romance that any romance lover can fall heads over heels in love with!! It is full of danger, excitement, fate and magic and an enticing love story that will shed some tears but leave a smile on your face!! BRILLIANTLY WRITTEN!!

I’m yours. Then, now, and forever Aidan. I love you

About The Author Updated

About Nancy Scanlon

Born and raised near Boston, MA, Nancy wrote her first romance novel at age 16, when she realized that fictional boyfriends were much easier to figure out than real ones. In the time since, she managed to earn her B.A. in English from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, obtain a graduate certificate in creative writing from the University of Cambridge, and marry the man of her dreams (but she still holds tight to her fictional boyfriends).

Nancy adores all things misty, caffeinated, chocolate and grammatically correct. Currently, she resides in Puerto Rico with her husband, two small children, and two not-so-small dogs.

When not writing, Nancy spends her time reading romance and watching too much HGTV.

This sounds interesting. I’m not super into time travel (even though I’m a total Doctor Who fan), but I’m so glad you loved this. I love when author’s really focus on emotional connection more than sexual tension. I mean, I like sexual tension, too, but not just that.
