The Boudreaux Series—Sexy. Intriguing. Easy.

No one said change was easy…

Savannah Boudreaux knows what it is to hurt. To bleed. To be afraid that the man she’s promised to be true to until “death do us part” might in fact separate them far sooner than anyone had ever anticipated. But Van also knows what it is to survive. To move on. To live life to the fullest. With five brothers and sisters and a loving mother as her constant source of strength during the pain and the healing, Van realizes there is little else she needs.

But some things never change…

Benjamin Preston sat on the sidelines of the Boudreaux family for years, in love with a woman he couldn’t have. As the best friend of the Boudreaux brothers since childhood, Ben has seen both tragedies and joys in the family. And as a former MMA fighter and Krav Maga expert, Ben’s used to fighting for what he wants—and winning. His hands were tied when Savannah married her college sweetheart not long after graduation, but now two years have passed since Ben found Savannah broken in her own home.

Sometimes what you need most has been right in front of you the whole time…

Van’s convinced that happiness isn’t in the cards for her, no matter how right it feels to be in Ben’s strong arms—and his bed. Ben is determined to win her heart and fight for her trust. He’s promised to protect her, to be her friend. But more than anything, he wants to finally make her his, and this is one fight he’s not willing to lose.

Easy Nights is a story of two people that have loved each other since they were kids, two people that haven’t been able to be together…until now and their story is heartfelt and vividly emotional and endearing.

Easy Nights is the final installment in the Boudreaux series and I have to say that when starting this book, it was quite painful for me because I have fallen in love with this family and I just don’t want to let them go but I also have been on tinder hooks waiting on this story and I was so excited that Savannah and Ben finally get their happy ending when we have seen these two dancing around each other the WHOLE series.

Savannah and Ben have known each other since they were kids. Ben is the best friend of the boudreaux boys, so he is a few years older than Savannah, but they have been best friends for ages. Savannah, has been in love with Ben since she was a teenager. But then she married another man, Lance, who had been abusing and terrorizing her and when her family found her barely alive two years ago, Van found the courage to face up to who she had become and fight for what she deserved. We see the outcome of this attack in book one, so we see her become stronger over the couple of years that the series has progressed. So when we come into this story, Van is finally emotionally healty again. Ben has been waiting for Van to be healthy and strong again before making his “move” because he loves Savannah and wants her in his life and he already has her brothers pushing him in her direction anyway, so no problems there. Even though Savannah is worried about something going wrong in their relationship once they take it to a new level, she also comes to the realization that she deserves happiness and that she needs to take that leap of faith and claim that man she has loved for as long as she can remember.

This, right here, is everything I’ve ever wanted in my life. She fits perfectly in every way. Her body is absolutely every fantasy I’ve had, but more than that, we fit together like this, curled up together, like two pieces of a puzzle.

I honestly adored this book because we see them finalizing their love story, and there isn’t too much drama because they already know that they love each other and have for the longest time. But due to Van’s abuse she suffered (which was pretty horrible), Ben is so patient with Van. I really adored Ben though, because he may be a bit alpha male at times, but more in the protective sense. He runs a gym that offers fitness classes and once he learned about Van, he started women defense classes.  I loved his well balanced character though, he has such a kind heart and is so sweet at times. He just “gets” Savannah, and understands her and loves her so sweetly.

But there is a plot to the story other than the romance between Ben and Savannah. There are things happening that just don’t add up and it seems that there is someone out to get them and destroy what they have.

You didn’t just survive, Van. You thrived.
You’re the strongest person I know, and I’m damn proud of you.

We learn that Savannah’s past is coming back to haunt her again but what I adored was seeing her face up to her past and FIGHT and even though the way she does it wasn’t what I would have done because of how she hurts her brothers and Ben in the process, I did love seeing this woman who has suffered so much overcome the fear and pain and become such a fighter and never loses her own self worth and confidence.

You are the beginning and the end of me, Savannah. I don’t work without you.

Such a perfect and heartwarming end to a delightful series that is beyond charming and witty!!! I can’t wait to explore other books by this author, because Kristen Proby has me addicted now!!

About Kristen Proby

Kristen was born and raised in a small resort town in her beloved Montana. In her mid-twenties, she decided to stretch her wings and move to the Pacific Northwest, where she made her home for more than a dozen years.

During that time, Kristen wrote many romance novels and joined organizations such as RWA and other small writing groups. She spent countless hours in workshops, and more mornings than she can count up before the dawn so she could write before going to work. She submitted many manuscripts to agents and editors alike, but was always told no. In the summer of 2012, the self-publishing scene was new and thriving, and Kristen had one goal: to publish just one book. It was something she longed to cross off of her bucket list.

Not only did she publish one book, she’s since published close to thirty titles, many of which have hit the USA Today, New York Times and Wall Street Journal Bestsellers lists. She continues to self publish, best known for her With Me In Seattle and Boudreaux series, and is also proud to work with William Morrow, a division of HarperCollins, with the Fusion Series.

Kristen and her husband, John, make their home in her hometown of Whitefish, Montana with their two pugs and two cats.

Lovely review! Proby is a wonderful author and I can tell from your thoughts here that the characters were every bit as complex and engaging as I’d expect out of her work. I’m always looking for a friends-to-lovers story so I’ll be checking this out!
