The Boudreaux Series: Sexy. Intriguing. Easy.

Callie Mills never intended to return to New Orleans and the life she left behind more than a decade ago. There was no need to open old wounds when she had the life she’d worked hard for in Denver. But when she’s fired from her awesome job in Colorado and her father dies, she has no choice but to return home to run the derelict bar left to her in the heart of the French Quarter. Callie must not only face bad memories but turn The Odyssey into something she can be proud of.

And who better to help bring in crowds of people than Declan Boudreaux?

Declan is a sought-after musician who knows he’s good at what he does and loves doing it. Known to pack the house, he also loves women and doesn’t expect to be knocked back a step by the beautiful new owner of The Odyssey. Callie is sharp, gorgeous and funny, and makes him yearn for something he never has before… Commitment. But when Callie’s able to turn the business around with renovations, making it one of the hottest bars in the Quarter, will she sell out and leave her past behind once and for all, or will Declan be able to convince her that’s she’s where she needed to be all along…in his arms.

Easy Melody is a story that takes us back to New Orleans and this sexy family and a sizzling story where music is the heart….

I truly had a blast with Easy Melody and it was a bit different than the previous books which I really had a blast with. I truly liked how compatible these key players are with each other so without further ado…let’s talk!!

  • Callie Mills, our lovely heroine, has just lost her father and has come from Washington State to New Orleans to decided what to do what the bar he ran and whether she wants to stay in New Orleans and the man that makes her feel alive
  • Declan Boudreaux is musically talented in every real way, his heart is music, and very successful in everything he does. Declan is a bit of a playboy, never does serious relationships until now.

Easy Melody was one of those stories that started out a bit slow I will be honest. I did take a little while for me to get fully into it but once I was into it I just didn’t want to put this story away!! NOPE, I just wanted to keep listening all day to this off the charts sensual romance that made me laugh out loud and grin like some silly person. And seriously once this book was done I just wanted to do a dance in the streets. That is how good it was.

Your love is like a song, and our song is an easy melody that plays, over and over, in my heart. Some days it’s slow and sweet, and other days it’s fast and loud, but it’s always love. It’s my favorite song

What made the biggest impression on me for this book, was the relationship that develops between Declan and Callie. Both of them are so in tune with each other they just don’t fully realize it at the beginning of their “courtship”. At first, they just have great chemistry and once they get to the bedroom, there is enough heat it will fog up your winter windows. But they also just constantly have the easiest time together just having “fun”. They truly just enjoy keeping each other company and their relationship may be pretty high off the charts sexually, but they also form a wonderful friendship that is so endearing. I just wished that these two were real because they are “friend” material. I love how dedicated they are and true to themselves in the simple moments.

She’s still sleeping. She’s warm and sweet, and snores like a lumberjack. Bless her heart.

And boy does this hero know how to date a woman. Once he decides that he wants to pursue Callie for REAL….he goes all out and so creative too. From Netflix and Cereal dates to a Saints football game (and yes our heroine LOVES football) and even more treating her to a Seahawks game in Seattle and meeting up with his musical friends in Seattle. Which also meets we get introduced to some kick ass and simply lively characters from her other series. And boy I love it when an author does crossovers in series and oh my…I just want to pick this series up NOW because they were so fun. 🙂

What was so refreshing about this story was the “romance”. There is such a strong focus on their relationship, seeing them being so “normal”. Going on dates, laughing and being quirky together and having such warm moments build between them and a bit of drama but truly I loved the drama at the end. I had no issues with it because it’s so REAL. You could totally see this “misunderstanding” happening in real life for us mortals and I truly love this about Kristen Proby’s writing. Is that these circumstances that build, are so realistic and as a reader, you can relate so easily.

“I want to talk with you, learn you, lose myself in you. All of those things. And I don’t have any experience in that shit, but damn it, I want it with you. Because those little things, Callie? The talking as I walk you to your car, or laughing with you as we demo my house? Eating pizza on the porch? They aren’t little things to me. I’ve never done that with any other woman that I’m not related to by blood. I never wanted to.
“Until you, and it’s confused the hell out of me. All I want is a chance to start this over with you. We did it all backwards, and that’s on me. I get it. But damn it, let me try it again, because if you don’t, it’ll be the biggest regret of my life.”

We see some real moments with the family and boy the more I read this series the more I am falling in love with this family even more, from the bantering, to the ways they support each other no matter what happens and I love the way that just accepted Callie as a part of their lives. So keep your hats because this book will make you want to learn to “adjust your sails”

The narration for this book is STELLAR AWESOME!! Like honestly there is something about this pair that just wants to keep you listening all day. Sebastian York is one of the most talented male narrators you could ever listen to. His voice is beyond sexy and gives you the tingles. And Rachel Fulginiti is simply so easy to listen to, her voice is so pretty and real does the character’s inner voice so well and how she displays emotion and humor is wonderful. You will get a kick out this pair doing this narration together.

A truly heartwarming romance that will make you laugh, cry and everything between!! I can’t wait for more.

About Kristen Proby

Kristen was born and raised in a small resort town in her beloved Montana. In her mid-twenties, she decided to stretch her wings and move to the Pacific Northwest, where she made her home for more than a dozen years.

During that time, Kristen wrote many romance novels and joined organizations such as RWA and other small writing groups. She spent countless hours in workshops, and more mornings than she can count up before the dawn so she could write before going to work. She submitted many manuscripts to agents and editors alike, but was always told no. In the summer of 2012, the self-publishing scene was new and thriving, and Kristen had one goal: to publish just one book. It was something she longed to cross off of her bucket list.

Not only did she publish one book, she’s since published close to thirty titles, many of which have hit the USA Today, New York Times and Wall Street Journal Bestsellers lists. She continues to self publish, best known for her With Me In Seattle and Boudreaux series, and is also proud to work with William Morrow, a division of HarperCollins, with the Fusion Series.

Kristen and her husband, John, make their home in her hometown of Whitefish, Montana with their two pugs and two cats.

This sounds good to me. I love that the author introduced characters from her Seattle series and made you want to read that one as well. I think I may have read one of those. Glad you enjoyed this one!
