Shadow FiresRWA RITA Nominated Science Fiction Romance!

Jenna dan Aron, a Shielder, lives a solitary existence, shunned by her people because she has visions and can see the future. She’s even foreseen her own destiny: to be a human offering, a mate for a savage Leor warlord. When two Shielder colonies need to be rescued, the Leors who are their only hope demand a bride for their leader in return. Knowing she can’t deny fate, Jenna steps forward.

The Leors are a hybrid race and only part human. Arion of Saura finds mating outside his race abhorrent, but he has no choice, as his kind faces extinction. His life is ruled by hard logic and physical prowess, with no room for softness or emotion. Bound to him, Jenna faces a life of barbarism with a mate who seems more beast than man. In the relentless heat of the wild Sauran desert, Jenna and Arion wage a battle of wills, until they discover that the heart is mightier than any weapon—and that love can forge shadow and fire together.

Why Shadow Fires?

This is one of the best science fiction romances I have had the chance to read. It’s the last in the series, but I feel it can be read as a stand alone. Jenna and Arion, are fantastic together. In the beginning they are complete strangers. Jenna’s life change when she agrees to marry a complete stranger, and a Leor. Jenna is a character we see great growth in the story. At first she is reserved and shy. She has special gifts though. Arion, is the leader of his people and we see the adjustments he makes for Jenna. And I love those virgin heroes, he was so curious about sex and touch and it was so entertaining. The humor is so superb and is balanced well with the build up of the plot.  This is such a beautifully woven love story, and from beginning to end this story will win you over in a heartbeat. This is a story that anyone could enjoy if you love romance.

  1. You always tempt me with the “this is the best I have ever read” You have me curious and I like that it will work as a standalone. I am home, I have a nasty head cold from traveling but it feels good to be back.

  2. OH! I love that you are hosting ‘Book Love’ it is such a wonderful idea. I haven’t read this book but I do love all your recommendations and will certainly be checking it out soon! :))

  3. I haven’t read a lot of sci-fi romances so far, but enjoy the genre so far. This sounds like a good one and it’s fun to see a virgin hero instead of a virgin heroine for a chance. I like the soudn of how Arion makes adjustments for her.
