Chance brought Miranda and Jake together. Now, the strength of true love is tested against a past that he can’t leave behind.
Miranda Hayes’ life was changed the day she faced down infamous gunslinger Jake Harkner…and walked away with his heart. Their fates have been intertwined ever since. Hunted by the law, fleeing across a savage land, their desperate love flourished despite countless sorrows. Now, twenty-six years later, their family has finally found some measure of peace…balanced on the knife’s edge of danger.
Jake has spent his years as a U.S. Marshal atoning for sins, bringing law to the land he once terrorized. But no matter how hard he fights the demons of his brutal past, the old darkness still threatens to consume him. Only Miranda keeps the shadows at bay. But when outlaws looking for revenge strike a fatal blow, Jake risks losing the one woman who saw past his hard exterior and to the man inside.
He always knew there’d be the devil to pay. He just never realized he might not be the one to bear the ultimate price.
Why Do Not Forsake Me?
This is one of those epic love stories that you can’t get enough of….a couple that stays with you. Jake and Miranda are both fabulous character, and together they pack one hell of a punch. This is a story that is heart wrenching and vividly pictured. Rosanne Bittner writes historical romance in a way that I have never read before. I wanted to give a shout out to this book because quite frankly its one of the best romances I have ever read and is one of the most underrated stories. We also see what a strong family these two have built, and the strong bonds they share with each other. This isn’t a story for the faint hearted. It can be heartbreaking and poignant, overwhelming at times and guaranteed to bring a smile to your face and tears in your eyes. But its real and stimulating and not a romance you want to miss out on!!! If you haven’t read this one….its a MUST!!
I had not heard of it before today, but I just added it to my TBR! A couple that stays with you AND a big family? I’m in!
Ohh Bittner is ncie 🙂
I’ve never read this author before. I tend to favor the romances set in England or Scotland. But I should give this a try. But I definitely need to be in just the right mood.
oh I would highly recommend this author Quinn!!! But yeah she doesn’t do lighthearted at all, i mean she displays a great witty humor but its written in a very realistic way. But I do think if you gave this book or this series a chance you would love it.
Thank you for the recommendation, Renee.
you would really LOVE this Carol!!!
This sounds amazing! I will have to try to pick this one up. I really enjoy it when a story just stays with you.
I like this author her covers, they are beautiful and stunning and somehow seem to try convey the epicness of the story. I have one of this author her books for review through netgalley so i am determined to finally read one of her books, hopefully somewhere this year. I’ve met a few bloggers already who seem to love this author her books, so I am really curious about them. I really like how you describe this one with how it’s heartbreaking and overwhelming, but also real and a good romance.
I love memorable couples. I added this to my Amazon wishlist. This month I am focusing on Taking Control of my TBR pile, so that I can buy oodles of books next month and destroy the dent I made.
I love epic love stories and memorable couples, so this is going on my shelf, Renee! Thanks for sharing.
Oh I’ll totally book love squee with you on this one. It was amazing 😀
Agreed! It’s underrated. So love this pair and their family.
