“Tale As Old As Time” – A popular theme, trope or setting you will never get bored of reading
oh there are so many that I have loved over the years. Anyone that knows what I read, knows that I will read just about any trope except for “love triangle” because those it depends on how they are written since there are different types. I prefer an obvious hero and heroine. So I think for myself, there is one trope out there that I will ALWAYS go for. I am always in the mood for and that would be Arranged Marriage. There is something so telling about this theme, and one I can never get enough of. Ever since I got hooked on romance, this trope has always worked for me. I love seeing a couple, strangers to each other, most of the time never having met, make a marriage work and falling in love. Especially since this was very common back in the time you see this trope the most of. My favorites of this theme would be:
Belle – A book you brought for its beautiful cover that’s just as beautiful inside too.
I do love a beautiful cover, just the way that they pull you in. There is something most unique about a wonderful cover. I like old covers I like new covers. Although I do love it when the story is just as wonderful on the inside as it is on the outside.
Beast – A book you didn’t expect much from but pleasantly surprised you
I have had a few like this way, where I expected to not love it as much as I did. These books are true treasures and really really shocked me ini my enjoyment of them.
Gaston – A book everyone loves that you don’t
I would have to say there is one series out there that everyone loves that I don’t like that much. It so didn’t work for me and now I have too many issues with the author that I can’t even pick her up anymore, not even her older works. But I think everyone but myself loves these books but I gave five of them a try before saying it was so NOT for me.
Lefou – A loyal sidekick you can’t help but love more than their counterpart
In The Pirate Lord, as much as I love the main couple, there are two side characters (that end up falling in love with each other themselves) that are my favorites. Louisa and Silas. Silas is grumpy, and lost his leg, but has a heart of gold. Then we have Louisa who is feisty and playful.
Mrs Potts, Chip, Lumière & Cogsworth – A book that helped you through a difficult time or that taught you something valuable
This book was a balm to me during a rough time in my life. My boyfriend had been killed and I was pretty traumatized. But also this book is about growth and love. Every time I go through a rough patch in life, I pick up this book because its such a comfort read for me.
“Something There” – A book or a series that you weren’t into at first but picked up towards the end
I will say that I struggled with the first few books, they started out slowly for me, but once I got to book four I just couldn’t put these books away….I just fell in love!!!
“Be Our Guest” – A fictional character you’d love to have over for dinner
There are a few characters that come to the top of my mind that I know would be highly entertaining. Robin Piaget including his fun family from “This Is All I Ask”. Then I would have to have the Malory Brothers James and Tony.
OOoh nice tag! I did a similar post earlier this year. A different version of this one from the looks of it! Lol!
Yeah they have a few variations of this book tag, but its so fun to try these out!!
Great list!!!! I agree-Devil in Spring has a beautiful cover!!! I haven’t read the Karen Marie Moning series, but it does have a lot of fans!
As always, you have given me some books I need to check out!!! Thanks!
You definitely should check of these out, I know you would love them. And they did a great job with the cover of Devil in Spring even if its too contemporary for a HR.
Oh my favorites! The Burton one. All the covers in that series are so dang lickable!
Oh yay!! I do love Jaci Burton too and need to read more of her because I love everything I read. She just makes me want to marry a pro player hehe
Fun tag!!! I felt the same way about Wallbanger – I finally picked-it up after seeing it EVERYWHERE and then couldn’t put it down. I’m going to remember Tangled Up In Tinsel as I can never find a good holiday read when I need one 🙂
Oh yes I felt the same way about Wallbanger and I put it off for a long time. But then I saw it at the library and I knew I had to try it out and boy couldn’t put it down either.
What a fun post! I love your picks though I’ve only read a handful of them.
Thanks Adria…it was a fun post to do!!
Now that was great, Renee! I just saw the live-action movie and I’ve loved this story in all its variations and retellings particularly historical romances.
Neat to see your answers for each one. I still need to finish the Lynn Kurland series as I’ve only hit and missed with a few of the books.
Oh I am so happy you liked the live action one, I feel like they did a REALLY great job with it. I do love Lynn Kurland, I think though This Is All I Ask is my favorite so if you haven’t read that one yet I think you would really like it.
Great choices as always! I adore Beauty and the Beast and all the versions of it. Although I haven’t seen the live-action one yet. (I know!!! I need to get on that! LOL) Loved the book covers. Devil in Spring…sigh… And the books that were surprises like Wallbanger and So I Married a Sorcerer. They definitely surprised and hooked me on those authors as well!
Ahhh Wallbanger! That one was a lot of fun!
OMG your Gaston… *faints*… how?!? lol… ok kidding.
I do truly believe not every book is for everyone.
Fun tag! I see some really pretty books here. Love the Kate Daniels series. I liked it from the start but they really did because even more somewhere down the line. I did love the first 5 fever books but book 6 was not for me and I haven’t read further.
