In this thrilling new Night Rebel series set in New York Times bestselling author Jeaniene Frost’s Night Huntress world, sexy and ruthless vampire Ian finally meets his match!
The Rule Breaker
Master vampire Ian is unrepentant, shameless…and every shade of wicked. He’s made one too many enemies in his two centuries of existence, including Dagon, a demon who now lays claim to his soul. Ian’s only chance to escape Dagon is to join forces with a Law Guardian, but he’s never been able to abide by the rules for long.
The Law Maker
Veritas’ normal role is police, judge and jury to reprobates like Ian. But she has her own ax to grind with Dagon, so if she can use Ian as bait…well, all’s fair in law and war. As they scour supernatural hotspots to perfect their trap, Veritas soon realizes Ian’s devil-may-care, roguish image hides something much more powerful. And Ian discovers that Veritas has shocking secrets of her own. As they’re drawn to each other with a passion as intense as their peril, either love or justice will prevail. But each will have devastating consequences…
Shades of Wicked is the first book in Frosts’ new series “Night Rebel” and this is a long awaited series that i am sure like many of you who have loved this Night Huntress world have fallen in love with the most hilarious yet crazy vampire….Ian. Ian is the bad boy of the group and quite honestly I love and adore his character in previous books. He is eccentric, has a pierced cock (which for a vampire to put silver constantly in his body just proves how crazy he is but we love him anyway) and to be honest he is the one character in this world that is the most mysterious out of ALL of them. When I heart that Frost had plans to put him in.,..I was so thrilled. I don’t know about many of you. Because his story is definitely needed to be told and Frost wrote it in her typical badass way that only she can do.
The story starts off with our heroine, Veritas, who is a Law Guardian and she is out for her own plan of justice against Dagon, and she needs Ian’s help to do it. When she comes for Ian though he is playing in a circus orgy, in the nude with a pierced metal cock and a cavalier attitude but Veritas doesn’t let that discourage her. She means to have Ian at any cost and with a battle of body, power and will ensues ….they come to an agreement and begin a partnership of sorts. As they work on getting Dagon into a trap they are setting, unexpected events unfold including having to say some marriage vows which is the last thing IAN would have ever wanted to do. But as they work together, a intimate bond forms between Ian and Veritas, where secrets are revealed including the real self but their fight with Dagon may prove to have unforeseen consequences…will they conquer?
Shades of Wicked is one of those books that ONLY Jeaniene Forst could ever pull off. Now first off I do want to mention this book has a cliffhanger and a big one. Now to be honest this is the reason I waited so long to read this book here. I wanted to wait until book 2 was closer in releasing and boy that ending…..I wanted to laugh, to dance, to scream and shake in fear ALL at once. Ian is completely BADASS in every way and I loved it. There is something about Ian’s character that has always entertained me. He is the KING of Bad Boys but in this book some elements are revealed about his character where we learn the WHY behind his actions and that beneath everything….he is one of the most loyal and honorable of them all. The transparency that we see happen between these two is beautiful and their connection to each other is vibrant and simply magical at times.
I honestly have NO complaints about this book apart from that ending because anyone that knows me really knows how much I despise cliffhangers, I need my HEA to happen. But thankfully I read reviews and learned there was a cliffhanger so I could prepare myself for it. This is one of those books that has a more “fun” element to it. Now after reading Vlad and Leila’s stories, this book is on a whole different level and I soaked it up like a sponge. The reader is left with an impression that this book leaves, its one of truths being revealed, and true intimacy being shared in a way that will leave you with tingles down the spine but in true need of more of the bond that Ian and Veritas share here.
I am truly excited to see what Frost plans on doing with this series and the story of Veritas and Ian to continue and see these two find what they both deserve!! Overall I found Shades of Wicked to be a laugh out loud thrilling adeventure that builds up the senses, shivers down the spine guaranteed and a love story to fight for!
